  • The Technics RS-M22G cassette deck is from a golden age of Japanese audio gear and this one I found in Hardoff was a vintage bargain that works!

Technics had been quite famous with their Reel 2Reel, Cassette Tape and Direct Drive Turn Tables these days. Since few years, the brand Technics is Back, because of their beloved quarz direct Drive disco TTs. 👍

The timer switch works without a dedicated timer devices! You just need a clocked powe switch for the Audio components. Set the deck in record or play mode. When power gets on, deck will start. This switch protects the tape from damage while in standby no power mode.

8:38 Headphones in the 1970s often had inline volume controls built into the headset. Typically the left and right controls were separate which allowed you to adjust the balance.

Hi! Just want to thank you for this in-depth video. I know nothing about these machines, so why did I find your video?
My dad used to be a bass player (musician) and sound engineer (idk if that’s what it’s called) for radio and television.
He’s getting old (70) and he’s got a lot of these machines, I want to be able to preserve them once he’s no longer with us.
But these machines haven’t been used in over 15 years and I don’t even know if they work.
So that’s why I thank you for your video, I’m not ready to test these machines (I wouldn’t even know how to) but your informative video lets me know, once I get my hands on them, I might have a chance of getting them to work and be able to listen to my dads vintage collection of cassettes, vinyls and CD’s.

16:20 “there’s no way that pops out that easily” I literally just did what you did and that thing came out smooth as butter. What the hell? These machines are making me exited about cleaning them 😭 I can actually get behind that glass and clean it neat? Thank you for the video! I cannot thank you enough

Those are L.E.D. meters my friend. VU meters have a needle that bounces to the sound/recording level of the tape. Nice score though, congrats ! 😎👍

This is an entry model. Possible the reason they saved money with the lack of 4 Professional Technics Rubber feet.

You will scratch the door Bolts when using any "Tool". They are glued at the back side. That red lock glue need to be cleant first. Plesase be careful not to scratch the 4 hole screw heads.
