Hello, You Can disassemble the old button and spray it from inside with WD 40 or Q20 will work again as new...
For the price of a new switch I think it’s more reliable to just buy a new one, the old one will probably fail again at some point.

We have a Passat 08 automatic and the car is working fine it’s just the parking brake button doesn’t work or it’s the breaks that need fixed and the mechanic can’t look at it til Tuesday
Try changing the button and if it works problem solved and if not you can have them check it on Tuesday.

I did that, and the parking brake alarm on my dash still going off with exclamation (red) flashing on right side and parking brake symbol on left side. I might just remove the fuses. Anyway, best not to buy one of these garbage cars.
Your issue sounds like something else, best to get the codes read as it may just need clearing
