Really one of the best.I think that even Gods above in the HEAVENS have been enjoying their greatest contribution in the history of GUITAR MUSIC (The Ventures for the whole UNIVERSE).The fans miss BOB to the core. Group DESERVES a NOBEL PRIZE .Why I endorse this view because they have been strumming as an intact group for years together till BOB left for his heavenly abode at a very ripe age.
I met Bob and Nokie at a concert in 1964. They were so nice and decent men, totally dedicated to making the greatest music of my life. I have loved their music for all these years and they will live on in my heart and mind forever. Thank you for the great sounds of all those years.
Always felt happiness when I played my Venture album. No matter how down I would feel in my failures in life, I would just play my Ventures album and feel good all over. There seems to be be this magical feeling you get when you listen to Bob;s guitar and the great music of the Ventures. I thank you as your music picks me up whenever I fell down Bob. The Ventures will live forever! Rock On!
Ever since my dad brought home a series of venture records vinyl in 1973 at the age of eight the ventures are the result of my guitar playing the inspiration they have given to so many still lives on inside me as I continue to drive guitars faithfully
Glad to say I met Bob Bogle in 1977 while they were playing a night club in Calgary. Spent the whole evening and it was great. The drum roles for the Hawaii 5 0 Theme was special to hear live. Bob was such a nice guy, sat with me and chatted for a complete set break. I told him my friends and I grew up playing dances back home doing The Ventures songs. We learned drumming listening to Mel Taylor. Bob was pleased to hear this.
I fell in love with the Ventures music when I was 14. I bought every album that came out for many years. I still listen to it. I've gone from records to tapes, to CD, and now I have all my favorites on my I-pod. I was sadden when Bob and Mel passed away. They were my heroes of rock n roll. R.I.P. Thank you for all the memories a devoted fan.
I'm getting old.... all my boyhood heroes and idols are passing away... every garage and cover band I ever played in did the Ventures... RIP friend... I never met you but considered you a friend anyway....
There never was, is and will be another Bob. Loved him very much. My guitar playing style stops at Bob.....I don't want to go further. Missing you Bob. Too much.
There has been some good groups around and Bob was with one of the best as he should HE WAS GOOD Thanks to him and his mates for the music of more than a lifetime
Rest in peace dear Bob! I used to play in a band called the Flamingoes in Barbados. We were heavily influenced by the Ventures playing, back in the late sixties.
During an interview, Bob Bogle recalled a story when he & Don Wilson bought guitars in Seattle, the salesperson told them "there are some wonderful sounds here, it is your job to find them."
A Ventures album in 1960 got me to purchase a Les Paul Jr. , and I have never been without a guitar since. These guys and Duane Eddy were rock guitar for me.
BOB BOGLE HAD A UNIQUE WAY OF PLAYING LEAD GUITAR , HOLDING ONTO THE TREMOLO BAR . THIS ALLOWED HIM TO FLAWLESSLY USE IT FREQUENTLY , DURING RECORDINGS . HE WAS ALSO THE BEST BASS PLAYER I'VE EVER HEARD . I WAS BLESSED TO SEE HIM 2 TIMES IN CONCERT , WITH THE VENTURES , DURING THE 80'S . I THANK HIM & THE REST OF THE VENTURES , FOR BEING MY GREATEST INSPIRATION , IN MUSIC . VENTURES FOREVER ! GOD BLESS - JIM ROBERT LOPINTO ( GOD'S BIBLE MYTH BUSTER ON FACE BOOK )
This, I believe, was my dad's favorite group. I hear these guys and I am a very little kid again. I was born and raised on the Ventures. There has never, before or since, any group that even comes close to touching them, for instrumental music. RIP Bob!
As much of Gibson, Martin, Fender guy I am you just can't beat that great sound out of those vintage Mosrites, I saw them back in 69 and in 74, and they were still taking them out on the road with them, Who wouldn't kill for one now... I wonder if they will end up in the hall of fame or stay in their families procession ? Great music for all generations though I'm not to sure this new generation can grasp it, one can only hope they will..
I grew up listening to the fantastic Ventures band and it was their sound (along with the Beatles) that made me want to play guitar. The first songs I tired to play was those of the Ventures. I bought their "Play Guitar with the Ventures" series of albums with its own uniques tabs and break downs of each section. Rest in Peace Mr Taylor and Mr Bogle. Thanks for all you did.
not taking anything away from Nokie Edwards and Jerry McGee, two of the best guitarists ever, but let's not forget it was Bob Bogle"s Jazzmaster tone and chord like solos that we fell in love with right from the beginning. I happen to like the early Bob Bogle leads guitar songs best out of all the Ventures songs. Thank you Bob and RIP,
Thank you for sharing this video, Bigone. I actually have never bought a CD or tape of their music, which is surprising since I enjoy their unique sound. I'll have to add them to my collection in the future. Mr. Bogle has left behind a lovely legacy of music and made use of a God given talent.
What makes this video so important is that we see the guy who actually PLAYED the first amazing Ventures tracks playing them again just before, sadly, he passed away. The phrasing is just like the original records. While Nokie is one of the greatest guitarists ever, THIS is how it all started in 1960.
It's sad to reflect on his passing (as well as Mel Taylor's 13 years earlier). No other band signified the sound of, or the desire to play, the electric guitar as much as this band did. I grew up with my dad owning a copy of Walk Don't Run '64, and it had a big influence.
This performance was part of the Experience Music Project grand opening in July 2000 at Seattle Center. Bob Bogle is playing a 2000 Ventures Aria Don Wilson model at this show. No more original members playing with The Ventures now, Don Wilson stepped down after the Japan Tour 2015, but he may record some and do an occasional guest appearance.
ALTEC LANSING 511B HORNS 808A DRIVERS TWEETERS with Force 10 woofer and bi-amplified triode push pull 0A2s... I built this monster masher specifically to listen to the Ventures with... it is as sweet to listen to as they are... War of the Satellites! death to sand amps!
By an "accident of talent", Bob Bogle was original lead guitarist of The Ventures. When Nokie joined the group, Bob and Don realized Nokie's lead skills were unparallelled, and the lineup changed to Bogle on bass, Nokie on lead. Thus evolved one of the three great bassists in the history of rock: James Jamerson, Bob Bogle and Paul McCartney. In straight "rock and roll", others have equaled those three. None have surpassed them.
There were. 20 years ago and some later years. I-net was not quite prevaiing those days (I-net started in 1995 and Mel passed away in the following year.) but in closed net works such as Compuserve and its equivalents there were many. But you are right. Open net work (I-net) makes it possible to express so many tributes to Bob Bogle. I really miss the two.
Oh...my...dog....those mc's can blabber such bulcrap..... _"nr.1 instrumental group in the history of recorded music"_ ....in my little red book that might still be The Shadows, or in terms of sales, probably Duane Eddy....
RIP to a GREAT! I APOLOGIZE TO HIS DAUGHTER WHEN I EMBARRASEED HER IN PPARIS,FRANCE at a party with 'the transcontinental cowboys' sorry I acted like a pig to such a wonderful girl!Love, brad
He is one hell of a lead guitarist,I love to watch always! RIP Bob.
I have been listening to The Ventures since I was 7 years old I am now 59 and the music never grows old Bob and Mel you will be missed.

Heavily influenced so many of us. All of The Ventures will live in our hearts always!
Too right :)
Bob Bogle thanks for your inspiration, I've been playing over 50 years because of The Ventures. R.I.P.
The Ventures music was so much of my youth. R.I.P. Bob and thanks for everything.

Awesome live version of two of their classic tunes. They never become outdated. And wow what a crowd, glad to see they never lost their popularity.
No one plays WDR better than Bob. The song still sounds like the the original version back in 1960 or so. RIP Bob B
I'm getting old.... all my boyhood heroes and idols are passing away... every garage and cover band I ever played in did the Ventures... RIP friend... I never met you but considered you a friend anyway....
Dear Bob- I can never thank you enough for the great music, which has become a part of my life. God bless.
What great memories this brings back. He will certainly be missed.
Thanks for the great music Bob. You will be missed

Bob was my life and soul. I can't begin to tell you all, how much I miss him.

Guitar Twist of 1963 is unforgetable.

I like what you wrote.

You were a prince among men, thanks Bob for your talent, kindness and courage.
Its really beautiful 2 adore these guys, rip .
All are sorely missed. Here we have Mel's son Leon on the skins. Hard to tell them apart.

No, Bob never died! He is still so full of life in the hearts of millions of his diehard fans, including me.
Always regretted missing that EMP concert back in 2000. RIP Bob Bogle.

Yep such a big influence on most of us that played back in the day... Still have my 63 Jazzmaster...

Bob R.i.P. God bless You. Thank for the music I grew up.
John Entwistle: Bass player for the third greatest rock group ever The WHO
Bogles got bags of tone.
He did have a profound influence.
Wonder why no tribute to Mel Taylor..He's the reason I started playing drums..

every human who knows how to play guitar knows ventures......
Why is Bob playing lead and Nokie playing bass on this appearance?
That's how they originally started out and switched.
Ah yeah, I've never heard of John Entwistle either. James Jamerson wasn't even a rock bassist, he was Rhythm & Blues. Sheesh.
Hey ...\m/\m/
Who's the drummer?
Leon Taylor Mel's son.
