Your videos have helped me quite a bit. Photography is a fun hobby. I started out with a 35 mm Vouightlander and later got a Mamiya C-22. Took some photography classes back in the '60s at SF State College. Learned how to take pictures, develop film, and how to make prints. Then came digital. I currently have a Canon G-16, my wife's Nicon D70S, and PSE 2021. Great stuff! Thank you!
Thanks George, another great video!! I like to download the images you use, so that I can follow and practise before trying out on my own pictures, I loved this one, there is something very satisfying about cleanly erasing the background, or is that just me 😂
You're welcome Anne, knowing how to use all of the tools lets you choose which one is correct for each job. I tend to use the background eraser when doing skys behind buildings quite a bit.
That's how it works, the photo you are removing the background from is sitting on top of the new background. Basically you are cutting away part of the top layer to show the bottom layer below, just like if you had two photos and you used a pair of scissors on the top photo to cut away part of that photo so that you can see the photo sitting below.
@@HTGPhoto Not like that. I removed the background of the elephant and dragged the island photo from the photo bin on top of the elephant photo. Now, I can't see the elephant photo I can only see the island picture.
@@robb_lucci9872 Ahhh, easy fix. Look at the Layers panel on the right side. If you don't see the Layers panel then open the Window menu and click on Layers. In the layers panel you will see that the island photo is on top of the elephant photo. Grab the elephant layer and drag it above the island layer and you are all set.
I've already shown that in previous videos. Some of my videos, like this one, are project videos. Other videos are tool demonstrations. Its been a while since I made that video, so just for you I will do it again in a day or two. Make sure you sub so you don't miss it. On the Selection tools, there is no "right" tool. There are several ways to do selections and you should use the one you are most comfortable with. Most people tend to use the Subject Select because it is easy. I usually use the Polygonal Lasso Tool, but that is just a personal preference. If you are new to Photoshop Elements and you want to learn the program then the best way is with my complete training course, the link for that is in the description.

You're welcome Alan! It used to be that all the fun was in the darkroom, but now with digital here the possibilities are endless.

You are welcome! I started doing digital editing back with Photoshop 4 (not CS4, but 4) and I have never looked back.
Jsi skvělý člověk, já jsem začínal s úpravami ve Photoshopu CS3,ale nikdy jsem nebyl tak úspěšný jako ty George.@@HTGPhoto

Can you focus more how and why to select a tool instead of showing boring and tedious operating the tool?
