The loss of the old accommodation cars was really tragic.
I stayed overnight in one many years ago at the invite of a former ZigZig member (my reward for showing them home movies of NSW steam).
They were mainly pre-WW1 sleeping cars, very nice with polished wood panelling.

Here is a Tour of the Zig Zag Railway.
A fire tore through Zig Zag in October 2013... This video also shows some burnt carriages and devistation.

I remember riding in a QR rail motor occasionally in suburban Brisbane during the seventies, usually between Toowong and Roma Street stations, and also riding in the old red QR carriages which ended up on the 3'6" gauge Lithgow zig-zag, where I rode in one again about 15 years ago.

The QR silver bullet trains run routes from brisbane city to urban towns and cities. They where retired in the early 90's and never replaced. Hence this, the destinations that they served now have parliamentary services, that may only run once a week. I know the sunlander only runs east and west of toowoomba twice a week and it is dubble the time that takes by road. It would be cool if you could do a vlog on trains that go outside of brisbane, gold coast, sunshine coast and gympie. You will see it has been almost totally ignored.

Sad to see all the damage done by the fire, but hopefully it can be cleaned up and rebuilt eventually.

Late reply, but it is a Garrett but smaller than the NSWGR 60 class, and is 3'6" gauge

Even later reply, but that is a 400 class Beyer Garratt. It is 402. I believe there was only 10 made ranging from 400 - 409 and there are only 2 left. This one here (402) and another in a museum in South Australia I'm pretty sure (409) Also, they ran/run on oil not coal so they are considering converting it when they get the funds

The 2006, as well as running the Savannahlander, also ran suburban services in Brisbane, running from Petrie to the City and also Doomben to the City, before these lines were electrified in the 1990s and they also ran to toowoomba and also to bundaberg and also the line from Maryborough to Harvey Bay, before the Liberal Party closed these lines

With a bit of brute force and some oil on the actual mechanism, I'd imagine so. And also if the actual pulling mechanism isn't cut.

The cause of the fires are known. The people that caused them arte known. Why are they not made to repair what they have damaged? Governments have forgotten that without the past we don't have a future. The past needs to be preserved for our children to appreciate our good our early engineers were. The Poms can do it and make money why can't we?
