Our friends from #Cats At The Studios caught the feral mom shortly after this rescue, spayed her, and returned her to the colony.

I just came back from the movies where I just saw the Lion King, and it was just amazing! It is a remake of the original movie and it was the most beautifully made animated movie I have ever seen in my life! So much work, effort, and love were put into it and it's definitely a MUST SEE!

Awwwww.... Its amazing how quickly they got used to people. Day one "hiss hiss". Day 7 "I'm gonna climb all over you now".
At 5 weeks it's really easy to tame kittens. Basically anyone who wants to play with and pet kittens and isn't cruel to them can get them warmed up to humans, because they're still in the critical period for tameness. It gets a lot harder after 8 weeks.

No. They stole them from the mother. They were too young to be separated. They should not be separated for 8 weeks. Look it up or ask a vet. Mother cats can stay gone for half the day or even a full day. She came back to no babies and was devastated. Hope For Paws really blew it this time. Waiting for 1 hour for the mother is a complete joke and so was playing those gosh awful meowing kitten sounds. Mother cats aren't stupid, they know the meows of their own babies. The mother was robbed of being able to teach her kitties how to stalk & hunt and those kittens will NEVER catch mice. That skill is learned from the mother. Also, some feral cats wean their kittens slowly and there's a chance they were still nursing.

Feral cats have been around since early colonial times or possibly before. There's actually some debate on how the first domestic cats got to the US.

These kittens came from a feral cat. Feral cats aren’t really abused, nor homeless. They’re just wild cats. That’s why the rescue had created homes for the animals, so they would have shelter during extreme weather.

Poor things, my eye! Hope For Paws blew it this time. 5 weeks is too young to be separated from the mom. 8 weeks is ideal. Can you imagine how the mom felt to see all her babies gone? Feral cats like to teach their kittens things like how to hunt and both mom and babies were robbed of this opportunity by well meaning do-gooders who came along and totally disrupted their circle of life. The right thing to do was to leave the kittens and come back another day. Maybe HFP should just stick to dogs.

Mom was almost certainly watching from nearby but as long as humans were there she wasn't going to come back.
yeah, pity they weren't more patient and leave the zone with the trap set up. For sure the mother would have come. They think cats are dogs :p
They did this I'm sure they did think about before what they are doing and then took this decision... they are most patientful in every video you know... never thought a second time about what they are doing...I know there's must be a reason for this.. otherwise they're not like this...
1 hour was way too short imo. Our cats left their babies alone for four hours at a time when they were that age.

Maybe it is just a mood?
Maybe becuz the mom was not captured.
Or they missed the like button/had their phone upside down/accidentally pushed the dislike button. (I do that sometimes lol)
Because by taking kittens that young away from their mother, you not only cause issues for the kittens but the mother will just go on to have more kittens if she's not caught (plus how the hell would you feel if you came home and your kids were gone?) "rescuing" kittens without the mother doesn't "help" anything if the mother goes on to have more kittens, no kittens are taken off the streets, more are just added. Rescues often do more harm than good.

As to your comments about leaving the kittens, they are much safer off the streets or do you want them hit by a car, infested with fleas, eaten by dogs or other predators, or tortured by someone close humans?

The thing is that a cat mother recognizes the voices of her children. Every kitten has it's own voice and playing a recording of kittens meowing maybe prevented mom from coming back at all.
