Many thanks for uploading the race! As an Indonesian fan, it's hard to keep up with IMSA races due to time zones... Full race uploads allowed me to keep with IMSA anywhere, anytime.
I want to thank IMSA and Velocity Channel Canada for making the complete 24 hour of Daytona race available on Velocity. We as Canadians, are very rabid race car fans with a very long list of world class drivers, race teams and tracks. We have been often forgotten up hear but it takes the likes of the IMSA crew to respect us up here in the Great White North. Too bad INDY Car does not have the same appreciation. Hi hope that Roger Penske can change that.
Thank you for the upload! I’m so glad racing season is back, but I no longer watch US-based race broadcasts because of the constant commercial breaks. I’ve been grateful for Mother’s Polish / ESPN’s commercial-free F1 coverage by Sky Sports in recent years.
Just starting to watch the replay today. Very slow day at work. All jacked up for a fantastic year of sports car racing. A very special shout out to Brian Till. Welcome back Brian. Hope the past health issues are behind you forever. It's great to have you apart of IMSA and Daytona 2020 broadcast team. I hope to finally meet you a CTMP (Mosport) this year. Cheers.
Did you hear about the two G.M. engineers that got caught Street Racing inntwo new Corvettes..? Yeah... it didn't go well with their boss. I'm betting they're both looking for new employment. 😒
I'm so happy that you guys uploaded this here. Have to wonder tho, don't the guys in the booth have no screen or are they just having one of those days. When Grist suddenly set a slow lap time, they had no clue of what was causing it even tho he had been shown on screen for the best part of a lap if not for longer, stuck behind another car. And then they apparently mixed up Jorge and Grant when they hit each other. Jeremy said Grant did absolutely nothing wrong while it was he who lost the car and shunted into Jorge.
@TheFlagstand . . . At the beginning of the video it stated this was an NBC-SN broadcast, which explains it all. NBC, including the "SN" has, going back decades, produced half-hearted coverages of motorsports events when compared to ABC-TV or CBS-TV in the US. Where CBS and ABC seem to have sharp crews that stays on-top of the action with a level of intensity. NBC seems more laid-back with its TV coverage that meanders; and in motorsports, that's not good.
@@bloqk16 I was just surprised that Jeremy, who always corrects the often serious miscalls dumbass Hindhaugh makes during their IMSA broadcasts, was so off his game. He rarely makes mistakes. Maybe it's a continuing curve, as there was the Michelin pilot challenge race in Road Atlanta last year, where he was talking absolute nonsense about a incident on the backstretch.
@@GT_onboards Thanks for replying. That would be great (for comparison WEC wait about a month for full coverage of each race to appear on TH-cam which is a bit frustrating.) Looking forward to 24h Daytona! :)
Thanks a lot for the upload! Riveting stuff. Picked myself a good livery car at the beginning and was tense all the way through! Hopefully you'll have Hindaugh and Shaw together on the actual 24hr race, because this race's ensemble was...was not as good.
These are Global LMP 3 spec cars, so no GM lol. Looks like they are using Nissan VK50 (older) or VK56 (new) V8 engines in one of 4 different spec chassis.
I would have liked to have seen Kirkwood's LR tire at the end. @IMSA Official please make sure we can hear all of the commentators. Thanks for the upload.
Absolutely! Jeremy is stats/factual commentator to John but on this broadcast he had to make up for the lead commentator's crassness. Austin didn't help either IMHO - nothing of interest, no strong opinions.
Oh look... it’s raining at the IMSA Challenge at Daytona... just like it does every year. I’ve found myself questioning starting the season every year at the one place in the world that is in the middle of their rainy season. 🤷🏻♂️
We greatly appreciate your feedback. Not often we get a complaint about car sounds being too loud but a balance is definitely necessary. Hope you are finding that balance much better in 2023. Thanks!
So I'm hoping that maybe John Hindaugh was out sick or something for this one, and that he will be back with Jeremy Shaw and the normal crew for the rest of the season. You will alienate and lose many many fans if you have replaced Mr. Hindaugh. You had a perfect formula last year with the commentating and the crew for these uploads.
Great race! Fascinating in the drying conditions and various safety car periods. But, with respect, the lead commentator is dire. He knows his stuff but he talks generically about e.g. "what's it like driving after a mistake?" when he should be talking about live action e.g. while there's an overtake for the lead or a crash between two cars. Please commentators, keep the generic chit chat for safety car timeouts and commentate on what's happening on track. Thank goodness John Hindhaugh commentates on the bigger races.
Depends on team and how many sponsors you have. 120,000USD to 350,000USD depending on how much you want to race and what races you want to take part in for the series. These cars don’t race at Le Mans but some gentlemen drivers will pay 400,000+ USD in a Le Mans series. Also depends on how talented you are, if the team really wants you you’ll get away with the lower cost. The less experienced and slower guys pay the larger chunk. If you have a family friend that owns a company or is a CEO that believes in you, you can ask them to have their company sponsor you and pay a chunk if not all of the cost. If you don’t know any one in high places you start small and network until you meet someone you hit it off with. If you have no people skills or people just don’t like you as a person then you will not become a driver just being fast if you’re over the age of 18. Then you just sell your house, buy a cheap car, live with your parents, start up a company and save until you can sell that start up and start racing. If you don’t want todo that then you can learn to play poker and try to rake it in like that. Just takes some patience and hunger. Unless you’ve gone all in on a family already. Then you need to start with a divorce. This money goes to everything from car needs, insurance needs, crew and engineer needs, entrance fees and coaching needs. When you sign up with team with a professional driver part of that money is paying for their seat if they don’t have huge sponsors, as well as for them to teach you how to drive the car you both share and that’s a very special experience I must say.
Imsa needs to wait until the bulk of the rain has passed. So few cars in the field already, now you are wasting the money of the few teams that remain. If you had packed stands it would be different. I love Imsa.
Many thanks for uploading the race!

The real hero here.

Technically the 'race' starts at 5:44. The 'racing' starts at 12:40 ;-)

Must've been held at the Daytona International Speedway just outside of Jacksonville, FL according to the red pin.
The pin is always way wrong haha. Im pretty sure they must do it on purpose at this point.
Ha ha. I caught that too.
Looks like the pin is right between Jacksonville and St. Augustine.
Yeah, west Florida and east Florida are on different sides of town, I guess. What an idiot.
And the commentator said that Daytona is directly east of Orlando it's not. It's up the I-4 to the northeast. KSC is east of Orlando.
Thanks IMSA! 🏁 I'll never pay for that NBC Gold Track Pass garbage, but appreciate the week later upload on TH-cam.
Can’t wait for the 24hr
Cant wait for the 25th!
Thank you IMSA! Should be a good season. Great race, beautiful cars!
I can't wait to see the new C8R, pretty awesome

Dear IMSA,
Jacksonville Florida is not Daytona Florida. Please fix your map pin drop at the start of the video for the next time.
The best part is the IMSA headquarters is right across the street from the track.
You'd think if the weather radar map they show later can get it right, maybe they could...
Another great upload from IMSA .. and wonderful racing too.
thank you! Awesome series
I love IMSA, thank you guys.
Thanks for the upload very decent of you! Can’t wait till NASCAR next month!
Why only this 2020 Daytona Challenge that has over 20 cars??
The Corvette C8 GT comes out next month👀
Thank you so much for the upload!!! :D
You are Awesome ! We need this Fix !
who was the broadcast producer who didn't show the lead car go into the first turn at the start... or were there tech difficulties ?
Will the Rolex 24 be on the IMSA app?
Go, Scott Tucker! I hope you win.

great race. wet then dry. alot of dynamics.
Will there be a free livestream on the Internet for the 24h of Daytona??🙏🏼
Yes. It'll be on TrackPass, NBC Sports App, NBCSports.com, and in car streaming on IMSA.tv/IMSA app. Hope this is helpful for you.

Remember when cars had sponsors?
Well this is a relatively new support series, the LMP3 cars in Europe and Asia have sponsors most of the time.
What got me was teammates wearing different race overalls. Never seen that before ever.

So how much money do you need to drive these cars? I've never heard of any of these drivers. Guessing this is a rich man's Prototype Challenge?
It sounds that way. They just described one driver making his 1st appearance in Prototype class and he's only been racing for 18 MONTHS..!
Smaller teams, up and coming drivers. Some older drivers that do it for fun. It's certainly no rich guys track day though.
