    After trying this for 1 evening my car control improved more than by trying things from 100 more recent tutorials! Especially the fact that the upside down variants etc make me train muscle memory in different orientations is perfect and easy to keep repeating until it clicks (read: until my brain stops hurting) 😅

    Kevpert, my man.... I don't know if you'll read this or not but I just want to say: Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Your instructional videos (this one is my favorite) are so helpful I can't even explain. With just a few days of doing these drills my game has completely transformed in huge ways. I have gone from embarrassing whiff-after-whiff to actually connecting aerials in online play and I can actually even make some fancy looking goals now. It feels so good when you nail a nice goal and you get "wow!" "wow" "nice shot!". I mean...I still suck...but I can see myself improving more every time now and this has made this game exponentially better for me. Again, thank you for your time and dedication to this and I hope you have a happy Holidays 2016 and may Santa bring you many black market stuffs.

For me as a Challenger rank this is pretty cool and a big success. Looking forward to improving more. Big thanks to kevpert for these really effective and actually fun tutorials.

    this is literally what I needed to start getting better with my car control. I never really had a precise idea of what my goals were when I was training so I would try to improve by trying to kinda mimic what I saw in stream and when after a few try my car wasn't moving even close to the way I was trying to make it go, I would get frustrated and quit.
    Now being able to practice from easier steps until muscle memory kicks in and then working my way up to more difficult challenge is gonna make it much less frustrating and a lot more productive. Thanks a bunch for the video!

    BRUH!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. I watch this video for the first time 3 days ago and practice everything you said and it took me like 8 hours of constant training on the backboard training to finally get what you meant run that s*** has totally changed the way I play rocket League of course I have not perfected it I have nowhere near perfecting it but now that I've gotten it I'm just going to get better. I use a lot of those training videos I mean a training scenarios but I never use the back door one and that literally is the best one to learn how to truly control your Aerials. I went ahead and rebinded it my left roll to left trigger and literally started doing the every time I jump now just so I can get a customer with my car is going to do and it's incredible thank you so much.

    Hey Kevpert! Thanks so much for posting all these great videos (especially the tutorials!). I just started Rocket League mid November last year and I feel like I've improved more within the past few weeks after watching your tutorials than the past few months of just continuous playing, no training and not taking into consideration of all the techniques there's to learn. I'm still not up to par with a lot of the players and make a lot of mistakes but I just wanted to say that I really value your videos and you give me the confidence to improve and a level to strive for. Keep up the great work!
    Girls enjoy Rocket League, too!

    For people who like numbers: It took me about 20 hours to mechanically learn the upside down aerial + freestyle. I'm consistent in freeplay but need more time to solidify the muscle memory and be able to pull this off in matches.

    As someone who has been continually improving thanks to beautiful tutorials like this, I wanna point out: with aerials you want to be comfortable with slow and fast plays. And also, the faster you are in the air, the slower you fall (weird physics) so you have to account for that. And remember to always analyse yourself to improve and always practice, but practice the right way; don't build bad habits :D 👍

    One thing I've figured out with RL is that I put in nowhere near enough time to learn aerials correctly. I may suck at them, but it's videos like this that at least give me some ground work to practice and at least hit the ball in the air.

    I've currently got over 1k hours in this game, rank expert however this tutorial helped me out. I could slightly aerial, mostly standard aerials from the ground and on a few occasions, from the wall too, however this has helped me to look at it in a less sophisticated way, therefore has helped me gain more control over how I aerial.
    (As I prefer keyboard over controller, it makes aerials a little harder to do)
    Thanks for making this man.

      @ToriKo_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      MotivatingIntoxicatingDD I started doing this when I was in gold! Trust me, the trick isn’t to nail it first time, but to keep doing it until, a week later, it’s suddenly not that hard

    • @ToriKo_
      @ToriKo_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      msmn when did you start? In my own opinion, my car control is pretty great, but I still struggle with backwards sideways wavedashes, just cba to practice them. I’m console only so I only had access to this.
      For some things like dribbling (which is ball control I know, and I used Virges pack) I felt myself progressing slowly, but for learning how to fly backward and sideways (sideways was the hardest) I felt no progress until suddenly, a week later I got much better very quickly!
      I didn’t really do this consistently, what helped maintain determination was that I would practice after I noticed that a mistake with my car control lost me a save or a goal - this helped me to keep trying. When I got bored a few days later I’d switch back to gameplay. The only issue with this method is that, while I can now, I’m not sure the gold me would even notice that the reason they lost that goal/save etc was because of a lack of car control. Does that make sense?
      When I was in the mood to practice, I’d only do it every other day, and listening to a YT video or podcast or album.
      I’ve tried to answer your questions in detail because it seems like you really want to get better, but feel free to ask me anything else

    • @ToriKo_
      @ToriKo_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      msmn no problem man! Your English is fine, maybe take a break from practice maps and focus more on this drill, it’s great. The thing that really allows you see the improvement of mechanics is better positioning, the two skills really complement each other!

      @adbrooks95 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    FOR PEOPLE WHO FEEL LIKE THEY'LL NEVER LEARN TO AERIAL AS WELL AS KEVPERT: Think of his drills like you just changed your controls. At first you feel like you'll never get it but after a few weeks you don't even realize you're doing it because it's so natural. Keep motivating yourself!

    Another nice video! I think I will try out some of these. I took the effort to improve my car-control and varying-angle-car-control a little while ago. I'm still working on it here and then. It really helps to really take some time to focus and improve on these aspects. Also, you're pretty good at hitting the ball from the angle opposite than you approached from. That's something that I still struggle with.
    I started trying to get to the ball as fast as possible but then I took a different approach later into my car-control training. I decide to change from as fast as possible to as fast as necessary. That really works for me. It really forces me to slow down, relatively speaking, and pay attention to how my car is positioned relative to the ball, what speed the car and the ball are moving, and the orientation of my car. I naturally sped up more and more from then on. Whatever works for the person though, we all learn in so many different ways.

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      luchvk That's a good point about as-fast-as-necessary; for skills like rebound shots it's way more important to get a solid hit rather than risk missing it and confusing teammates... Although of course, as you get better, you can introduce more speed until eventually you become a pro player haha.

      Kevpert Aerial's are super hard to get the hang of. I've learned dribbling though! Not head dribbling but if they whiff it and have no boost that's probably a goal for me soooooo...

    a good tip would be dont underestimate boost. 1 tap boost can easily mess up an aerial, that's why boost management is important too, thats why rl is a beautiful game, there are so much more u can learn every day u play.

    I looked this up because I’ve played long enough to where I’m already starting to naturally feel the ball. I had a few insane matches last night where every time our opponents would hit the ball at us in their side of the court, I’d angle my car without thinking to where it’d redirect the ball towards the goal.
    This didn’t always work but it has one of the fastest recoveries in rl I believe.
    I also feather tap my boost really quickly if that makes a difference from doing it at normal speed.
