Omfg I needed this! Thank you. I was taking lessons and they took the fun out of playing, so I stopped. This made me open my case and start playing again.
Wish we had some tabs to these drills they are beautiful and melodic but was having some trouble following. Learned all my Phish chord progressions from Josh. You are the man. Love that shirt.
Thanks Rob! Appreciate you watching the videos! If I could post a reply video here, I'd show the patterns better. If you're up for it, email me, joshpearsn@gmail.com and I'll send a video showing them more clearly.
Surprisingly I've never tried to learn this one even though it's one of their most recognizable songs. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to getting into this one.
Hi Josh, it’s been a long time! More of a technique question here but I notice that when you are doing chord muting rhythms and lifting your fingers off, instead of just lifting up, it looks like you are moving down the fretboard a little, almost as if it were a little slide. You can see this at 00:18 - 00:26 in this video. Is there a reason for that? Hope you are well!!
What up Scott! This is a very interesting observation. I don't think I was aware of doing such motion until now. I think I do it as a muting technique, taking the pressure of my hand off the strings to give the sound a slightly and quickly muted sound between chords. The additional movement isn't really needed and is probably exerting extra energy that I may benefit from not doing so much. I'm gonna keep an eye on it. Thanks for asking!
weekapaug groove to end it. Nice.
Weekaprise, lol
Ha, yea, some similar chord inversions in there. That weekapaug chord progression is gold! Thanks for watching and commenting!
