I haven't seen this before and what I think I am seeing that I like is that with side2side you aren't meeting the natural resistance stiffening you get initially when you hand on spot & keep pressure on until the lowering which can sometimes be more of a hard release, a drop, off that pressure. This seems like it has a relaxation effect which gives a softer release off the gentle feel/rocking.

I tried it today-both sides on Kole. It was genuinely remarkable. The release was effortless.
What's the purpose of doing this? Are you trying to get the horse to relax? Just curious...
It’s a way to teach them to lower their head as well as relax.
