Witches have always existed. We're not (inherently) evil and we're not supernatural (at least not outright). We're humans that just practise the craft of the witches; witchcraft itself is very much separated from Satanism or paganism, or really any religion for that matter. We don't have any dogmas, and even though we can believe in or work with deities, many in our ranks do not. Regardless, witchcraft is based in nature. We have been medicine people, healers, shamans, druids, and so on and so forth throughout the ages, but all practice some variation of or have roots in witchcraft nonetheless (whether it's called that or not). We are feared because we can take advantage of the earth's gifts and secrets. We are feared because we are unnatural. We are feared because of Christian propaganda and a lack of understanding or an unwillingness to accept. Witchcraft is the most ancient form of spirituality and religion if you so choose to call it such. It is not the same as the occult, even though both are truly fascinating if you'd only bother to do proper research instead of fear-mongering.

I have been heavily involved in the Christian church for over 20 years now, believe me some of the darkest people I have ever met will slap on their suits and dresses and go to church every week and act just so nice. I have attended or been involved with in some manner with 4 different Baptist churches in several states and there was a common theme in all of them. In each one a man who was somehow or another involved with the young of that church turned out to be a child molester AND in 3 of the churches, the churches turned their backs on the wives who allowed their husbands to be jailed for raping their own children!! Those churches believe and teach that no matter what he does, a woman is to ALWAYS stand behind her husband!! Of course we all know of the horrors that the Roman Catholic Churches were involved in and tried to cover up. What else have they been involved in that we are not aware of? Then you have the Islamic churches and their being OK with killing non muslims, such great "good" people huh? "Occult" just means 'hidden', so it's a super broad term. Everything that deals with universal energies or things science can't quantify could be considered occult, and that includes many of the magickal religions. That doesn't make any of them bad. Personally, even necromancy isn't all bad to me since stuff like ghost hunting would qualify at its core. It's all in how one approaches it and for the purpose it's being used for.

I didn't like video. Most accused witches were women that had property that others wanted and if someone was accused the punishment was death regardless if they were guilty. Calling witchcraft evil was a way to kill off influential women.

I'm a Wicca through family bloodline and before anyone asks, no we're not evil, nor do we cast spells or have magic cauldrons or curse people. We care about nature and the forces of the earth and universe and we meditate (it's our way of praying) and we have goddesses. Gaia, aurora, mother nature, and the first ever Wicca goddess hesikay.

People in my small town have tried to stop it. Churches try and get kids to come to church on Halloween, cos apparently kids receiving candy and having fun is bad.

We love Matthew, but this one we found his research to be a little lackluster with some historical inaccuracies. The Salem Witch Trials has long been dissected and disregarded as "real witches". Its actually a pretty interesting view into the human psyche.
To all my sisters and brothers who practice magic, remember that many will not understand it and might mistake it for something else or confuse it. Everyone has their way that has work for them. We should teach those who are willing to learn and listin without any judgement. As we are different but not so different at the same time. Dark magick and 'satanic' magick aren't bad. It's the intent, like Jeni says. I'm a grey witch, meaning I practice white and black magick. I also use the assistance of other spirits in my workings. I ask Lucifer for help sometimes, and he does help. However, my soul is still mine. I have not sold it. I can and DO work with the Arch Angels, even with working with demonic (dark/black) entities. The Arch Angels protect me, and keep my mind clear.

There are bad apples in every bunch, but this video is throwing a negative blanket on that whole population. Many of the examples in this video were simply women who had amassed more power and/or influence than the local men wanted them to have, hence the "she's a witch" accusation. Please consider taking a closer look at the Pagan paths before immediately declaring all of its practitioners to be "evil." Just because it is different, doesn't mean it is evil.

Most of the list have been accused to be witches without actual proof other than Aleister Crowley admitting to be a witch. Those who had admitted being witches through torture isn't admissible because it's through coercion, anyone would admit to a crime they didn't commit if it meant to stop the constant torture. The Salem Witch trials aren't accepted as an actual witch trial by most scholars because of different theories claiming to why the situation came about, one of the most acceptable theory would be that the adolescents had unintentionally blew a 'little game' up too much and it got caught in the midst of the town's hysteria, some theorize that there might have been some kind of illness that had gone around affecting people's minds and that most of the accused were actually innocent christians.
On to the next, the statement Matt had said at 0:13 kind of offended me (just a bit) as well as 10:10 because I'm wiccan and through study socialization, I've come to realize most witches don't wish to do any harm to others (Also like to refer to the Wiccan Rede which is a guideline for Wiccans to not cause harm to others), so to state that witches know what it means to be truly evil isn't something I would agree with, because the most evil acts in history have been done by people of different practices and religious faiths, in this video alone shows that Christians have done great evil by torture and burning 'witches' at the stake.
Matt, I love your channel, and look forward to your videos, but the video was in bad taste and I assure you that you might have offended a good portion of the pagan community. It makes me kind of sad to hear you say to stay away from witches. Witches have always existed. We're not (inherently) evil and we're not supernatural (at least not outright). We're humans that just practise the craft of the witches; witchcraft itself is very much separated from Satanism or paganism, or really any religion for that matter. We don't have any dogmas, and even though we can believe in or work with deities, many in our ranks do not. Regardless, witchcraft is based in nature. We have been medicine people, healers, shamans, druids, and so on and so forth throughout the ages, but all practice some variation of or have roots in witchcraft nonetheless (whether it's called that or not). We are feared because we can take advantage of the earth's gifts and secrets. We are feared because we are unnatural. We are feared because of Christian propaganda and a lack of understanding or an unwillingness to accept. Witchcraft is the most ancient form of spirituality and religion if you so choose to call it such. It is not the same as the occult, even though both are truly fascinating if you'd only bother to do proper research instead of fear-mongering.

I have been heavily involved in the Christian church for over 20 years now, believe me some of the darkest people I have ever met will slap on their suits and dresses and go to church every week and act just so nice. I have attended or been involved with in some manner with 4 different Baptist churches in several states and there was a common theme in all of them. In each one a man who was somehow or another involved with the young of that church turned out to be a child molester AND in 3 of the churches, the churches turned their backs on the wives who allowed their husbands to be jailed for raping their own children!! Those churches believe and teach that no matter what he does, a woman is to ALWAYS stand behind her husband!! Of course we all know of the horrors that the Roman Catholic Churches were involved in and tried to cover up. What else have they been involved in that we are not aware of? Then you have the Islamic churches and their being OK with killing non muslims, such great "good" people huh? But oh let some woman cast a spell hoping to help someone fall in love and well we better run out and gather some wood cause there gonna be a FIRE tonight!!

"Occult" just means 'hidden', so it's a super broad term. Everything that deals with universal energies or things science can't quantify could be considered occult, and that includes many of the magickal religions. That doesn't make any of them bad. Personally, even necromancy isn't all bad to me since stuff like ghost hunting would qualify at its core. It's all in how one approaches it and for the purpose it's being used for.

I'm Wiccan and I don't preform dark magic. I've never used my magic to hurt anyone or anything, I only preform white magic.
There is no white magick. There is no black magick. Only shades of grey.
I didn't like video. Most accused witches were women that had property that others wanted and if someone was accused the punishment was death regardless if they were guilty. Calling witchcraft evil was a way to kill off influential women.

We love Matthew, but this one we found his research to be a little lackluster with some historical inaccuracies. The Salem Witch Trials has long been dissected and disregarded as "real witches". Its actually a pretty interesting view into the human psyche.

Regarding your last few sentences; people who practice witchcraft now are nothing like the people who “practiced” it then. Witches now use magick for good, for the most part. Most of the population of witches use it for harmless reasons, though there are some who use it for not so harmless reasons, but that warrants you no authority to warn others to “stay away from them” because they are normal humans just like you, they just believe differently.

I admit I misspoke being wiccan myself (mind you not to experienced) but dark magic and satanic magic does exist up to the user how it all is used. The castor is the director the energy is a tool.
Dark magick and 'satanic' magick aren't bad. It's the intent, like Jeni says. I'm a grey witch, meaning I practice white and black magick. I also use the assistance of other spirits in my workings. I ask Lucifer for help sometimes, and he does help. However, my soul is still mine. I have not sold it. I can and DO work with the Arch Angels, even with working with demonic (dark/black) entities. The Arch Angels protect me, and keep my mind clear.

I dunno if Agnes Sampson belongs on this list :( she was an experienced midwife who wanted the torture to stop, and even King James was going to let her go before she let slip some juicy gossip that had likely escaped the palace when he said to her “this woman is not but a liar”-he did NOT believe she was a witch until she told him what she did, and even then the ‘private life’ of the king was not private, there were eyes and ears everywhere waiting for him to produce an heir. This just isn’t fair to her or ANY of the woman executed for witchcraft :(

I know people who are pagan but the vast majority of pagan people use it for good. even if you look at books on the Wiccan religion, I says NEVER to use magic for evil.

Dude...I usually LOVE your videos. But really? Some of the most awesome and compassionate people I know practice witchcraft and/or follow Pagan traditions. There are bad apples in every bunch, but this video is throwing a negative blanket on that whole population. Many of the examples in this video were simply women who had amassed more power and/or influence than the local men wanted them to have, hence the "she's a witch" accusation. Please consider taking a closer look at the Pagan paths before immediately declaring all of its practitioners to be "evil." Just because it is different, doesn't mean it is evil.

My spanish teacher in high school told the class that while he was in Mexico he met a mysterious woman. She told him she was a witch. At first he did not believe her until she told him his name and background and he was freaked out about it.
