I remembered when the Special Editions came to theater back in 97 - went to go see them with my best Friend, who had never seen Star Wars before that point. When he saw it on the big screen, and for the first time ever, he was hooked!

Not many friends or acquaintances heard of Star Wars in my country before 1997. I was given Episode V on VHS in special edition by an uncle. His elder brother my other uncle was given the whole trilogy on VHS but passed away in 2003 from cancer. I guess I inherited his special edition trilogy VHS boxset.

George Lucas intended to release all the Star Wars films in chronological order in 3D, but only made it till The Phantom Menace, then the Disney buyout happened, and all the future 3D re-releases were canceled.

I remember hearing that episode 2 was in 3d at one of the celebrations. I am not sure which one.
