Haha I actually said "Looks like something I made in college" because I'd used to cook spaghetti and scramble eggs back then. And porky & sausagy can describe some of the other stuff I cooked up those days as well lol. Thanks for the comment Brad! 😊

The cauliflower with the chicken adobo looked wonderful. I’m a big vegetable lover.
That was a very good dish- the chicken was very flavorful and tender. Yes one thing we really liked about the buffet was how much veggies they had, and we especially enjoyed those steamed ones.

So glad you posted this video as we didn't even know about the seafood lunch. I kind of felt left out until watching the taste reviews on the sushi.
Yeah the sushi wasn't the best- they want to you eat at the specialty sushi bar 🙂
@@TravelTouristVideos I have to say the specialty sushi bar did step up. It used to taste like the ones at the buffet with semi-dried rice. Just wondering if you would ever consider doing a video with a comparison of the same dish photos from past to present cruises from the same line. I really like the fact that Princess has opted to plate MDR like fine dining with smaller portions. They used to be gigantic portions like on prime rib night.

Congrats! We like the classic cruising approach so that we can relax more on sea days and adventure more on port days. Keep watching these Princess @TravelTouristVideos because the menu was almost identical to our Jan 2024 Mexican Riviera cruise. Their reviews helped me direct my calories towards better options.
Make sure you book your dinners on the app ASAP and keep in mind that Princess has changed to a healthier approach to MDR. I find the naughty items at the International Cafe with 🍩 and pistachio 🥐 a fun way to break all diet rules.

Joann was very brave to dig into that sushi plate! 🤣 Most of what you showed looked good though. I’m always up for the Asian dishes (especially noodles) and the desserts looked yummy. That one strawberry cake looked like a bike helmet. 😂 I always carry a few individual “Wet Ones” or “Wash n Dries” towelettes with us when we dine on cruise ships. We will scrub our hands with them when we sit down to eat after we’ve touched all those serving utensils. I know it’s hard for them to keep things sanitary with THOUSANDS of passengers mingling about so I just try to protect myself from the germs the best I can. We may try a Princess cruise some day. DH retires soon and we’ll have time to explore different cruise lines. Thanks for the video!

I’m noticing a trend with cruise line buffets. Lately I’ve been seeing a considerable amount of Indian, and Middle Eastern dishes on offer. I get it. Those dishes are cheaper, easy to make in large batches, while offering diners a lot of flavor. I’m not so impressed with that scheme, but it’s okay. There are still TONS of other options.
I’m really impressed with their selection of cakes! Reminds me of a Celebrity video you posted a few years ago.
Great seafood selection too. I’m intrigued by the introduction of Langosino lobsters. Looks like a less expensive “lobster-like” creature. Never seen one that large before. Oh, and tell Joann that the green stuff at the tip of the tail is not part of the brains 😂. It’s actually the fat around the lungs. In normal lobster, the green stuff (yucky as it looks) is thought of as something of a delicacy. I got jealous watching her with that tail 😆. Once again, Princess know how to put out a good spread. I’m very encouraged. Loved the video, you guys! Your son seems to get taller and taller with every video you put out!

Agree with you that this buffet in particular had a few too many curry or stew-like offerings, and the odd thing was they didn't have the steam rice nearby those. Yes those cakes and certainly reminded of the Celebrity Cruises buffet on the Apex. Guests really enjoyed how they looked and tasted. Appreciate the heads up on the green stuff! 😁 Overall it was a very good lunch buffet. Dinner was arguably better though so stay tuned for that. Yes our son is growing so fast- still remember him in the stroller on his first cruise when he was just 7 months old!

When I was on the Regal Princess in November 2023, there was a very significant number of Indian couples led by an Indian travel agent. At one of the meetings with the cruise director, he noted that one of the major hindrances to his booking cruise vacations was the lack of vegetarian Indian dishes.
Personally, I like the very significant presence of Indian, Malay, and other Asian dishes. And to a dish, it did NOT disappoint. The dishes were better executed than the Asian food on NCL and was far more varied than Celebrity. Still, Asian options represent less than 20% of the food.
@@jlawrence0181 I agree! I think the Indian dishes encouraged me to eat more veggies. If I wanted meat with it, I just made sure to get meat/fish to add it to.
I think that's the unique approach to the world theme of their menu. If I want fish in my ramen or curry or soup, well I can just easily add it. I wish I would have asked them to put all the taco fixings on top of my chili cheese fries at the Salty Dog Grill and add guacamole from the buffet. I guess I have to plan our next cruise to be able to have fun with my plates.
on my first hal cruise in 2017 they had the salmon coulibiac, but then on my more recent hal I didn't see it once. I kind of missed it. I know that some grumps post on your channel regarding 'talking while chewing'--I and most viewers really have no issues with it whatsoever unless the talker is really smacking the chewed up food at the front of their mouth, which your wife does not do. So let her know that she does not need to hold up her hand or worry about any of it (maybe it's just her natural reflex). The grumpy people can go find some other channel that only shows the food (without the helpful realtime tasting that your wife provides). Cheers,
I am 100,000% with you. Although the silver lining with the grumpy comments is that the interactions only serve to promote the video all the more. I’ve watched Joann eat a million times, and never once thought to critique her eating!!! It never dawned on me that she might be a sloppy eater. She’s not. Now *ME* on the other hand, I’m another story altogether. 🖐️ I’m gross to watch when I eat 😆

I love your vlog. I would never go on a cruise and some of the food looks like something I would not try. Espically the Langousini? In fact I wouldn't even go to seafood night. I love her reviews of the food and I was sorry the seafood was not up to her standard. She deserves good food in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
There are so many choices, you'd find food that you like. Princess is good in that they offer many choices, from regular rice/pasta types of things, to more ethnic and seafood dishes too. Unless you have serious sea-sick issues, go for it!
Thanks for the support Kathy- will do! 😊 For sure some of those food are not for everyone- the langoustine wasn't the easiest to eat for sure. So that was great that Princess had a large selection to accommodate different tastes.

Another great video. That Filipino spaghetti is very authentic. I bought a kilo package of the Del Monte brand spaghetti sauce made in the Philippines during the pandemic. We just could not eat it.

Our pleasure! That final buffet should be on most of the Princess ships- they had it on the Majestic when we were on it a couple years ago, and there's also the the sushi & cakes. Have a great time on the Ruby, and would love to hear back if it's on there or not!
So Ruby didn't have that final seafood lunch buffet (unless both hidden and unadvertised). But they did have the extra fee crab shack available for dinner a couple times....
FWIW, nearly all food and drink were pretty good to excellent. Spoke to a couple who said the only meals they enjoyed were those off the ship. I honestly can't imagine how this could be the case.
