Velaryon is amazing! Suggestion to keep the playthrough focused on your Valyrian heritage - marry other high Valyrians, support the continued existance of High Valyrian houses etc :)
I love the idea of taking over the stepstones and perhaps tyrosh and establishing yourself as ruler there. Ruling all the islands of blackwater bay would be cool too. You should definitely search for high valyrians and invite them to your court, and prioritize marrying your family and couriers to them to really grow that culture. Westori valyrians work too if you run out of high valyrians to work with.
The Rogares are important! They’re fully High Valyrian unlike the dirty Celtigars. There’s also a house in Tyrosh that is high Valyrian and has a Valyrian Steel Sword, as well as Rogare in Lys.
Rogares definitely could be helpful, especially roleplay-wise as a powerful banking house, but I think building up ties with House Celtigar is a good plan since they're close to home and could be useful if we need to defend ourselves.
I remember commenting on one of the very first episodes of the Clan Stjarna playthrough and said you were growing more confident with each video. Listen to you now brother, the glow up is crazy! Be as proud of yourself as I am of you, good shit King
Yeah. They might not have ever had one as they were a poor family before the doom of Valyria. But I think it was probably just lost like a bunch of others were
You’re literally my favorite CK3 content creator. The way you do your story telling and everything. I can’t find anyone like you. AGOT is also my favorite flavor of CK3 and although your other series are good I think these are great.
Given that the events of the war led Robert to have an immense hatred of the Targaryens, I think your character here sees it as smart to get on his good side given that Velaryons were close with Targs. Freeing slaves and disrupting pirate activity in the Stepstones is a surefire way to get you noticed and probably gain some respect from the King, which you can use to your advantage later…
Also remember to have your Castellan actually do something - they give lifestyle bonus to what ever you are doing if you choose someone that is also good with Martial (That being your focus now) :)
Yay for more AGoT! Fingers crossed for stability. 🤞 I do not believe Seafoam is canonical. There is no mention of House Velaryon ever having an ancestral Valyrian weapon of any kind, though it would certainly make sense for them to have one-and making it a cutlass is just objectively badass (not quite as badass as House Celtigar's much more canonical Valyrian steel battleaxe, but close).
House Velaryon has a connection to the Merling King, the deity of the Narrow Sea. You can try to reform Your faith to get Valyrian Syncretism, Divine Marriage and Salt and Sea tenets, to reflect Velaryons unique culture, beliefs and Valyrian heritage
16:23 Norvos and Qohor are Valyrian colonies as well. Braavos is interesting since it was established by escaped slaves from Valyria, not by Valyrians directly.
Interesting facts about house Velaryon. They are very well known for the Velaryon marines which are basically as the name states amphibious units. But are also trained by solderis of the vale who know how to fight in any terrain. They also have some of the strongest fleets second to the royal navy and house redwyines.
.... Where did you read that? Fire and Blood or Loiaf never mentioned 'Velaryon marines''' trained by Valemen. GRRM is inspired by 12th and 15th century England, not 20th century US. Could be a weird and funny fanfiction though.
@@MrWertheron I read it in a novelization from reddit. It isnt actually fully lore accurate, because they page was about special unique units for each major/relevant houses.
@@supremephantomhive1737 yeah fanfiction. GRRM doesn't really like that (and now that someone created a US Marines fantasy in Westeros I understand why XD )
The Bravoosi are the opposite of one of the Valyrian cities, for they were made of escaped slaves and are probably connected to the Doom of Valyria as it is theorized they used the faceless man with Lannister gold to kill all the mages controlling The volcanoes, which made it go boom. Also, rebuilding Spice Town after it was destroyed in the dance would do wonders for the Velaryons!
The man the myth the legend he is back! After 3 months since the last CK3 agot playthrough we can only rejoice in the Stray Kings return!Already know this will be a great series!
I just finished my Velaryon playthrough and usurped dragonstone and incorporated all of Crackclaw point and Masseys Hook into my kingdom of The Tides. It was very satisfying
18:56 - Maester Ebrose is actually a canon character. I admit that I still haven't read the books but I do know that he's the archmaester (played by Jim Broadbent) in season 7 of the show who teaches Samwell Tarly at the Citadel.
Hey, I just wanted to say that while I've got hooked up on game of thrones from the series, This gameplay is what I was looking for exactly. Thanks for recording this.
With the new CK3 update yesterday you gonna make me start my own House Velaryon campaign because of HoTD and secure the step stones a real trade Velaryon house
It seems to me that in that bookmark there are actually some Targaryens still available on the map, so you could marry actual High Valyrian person, although with no alliance.
I feel like I do remember seeing somewhere that Seafoam was a real valyrian sword, but it was lost in Gulltown harbour during Aegon's conquest by Lord Daemon Velaryon, but i'm not sure where I saw that so it may not be canonical.
hey loved your content, great job! I know its difficult, but is there a way that I can play this mod at my ps5? Its probably a different setting for the mod itself, I love ck3 and got so it would be great haha.
"I don't know how we'd explain freeing the slaves lorewise." You could explain it as weakening Tyrosh for future conquests and possibly finding some slaves to serve as couriers and knights. "What would you like to see Happen?" Obviously go conquer the Pirates and Essos.........but also North of the Wall. Reforge Valyria from the People of Essos and the Wildlings!
You should take Dragonstone over and take the high lordship of Dragonstone and all of the claw, and you could probably make a lord paramount ship out of the those lands, and maybe conquer Masseys hook, you should also just make your fleet you military priority cause its what the Velaryons are known for, Thank you, Caleb
I'm fine with a very detailed Westeros (it shows the true size of the continen, which is supposed to be huge). I would have preferred not expanding in Essos (or at least have a Westeros only option).
I do appreciate the amount of detail in it for sure, I just don't know if the trade-off in performance is worth it to me. Not sure why, I've got a decent rig but this mod specifically just wreaks havoc on my computer.
Pledge your allegiance for Stannis the Manis, but if any Targaryen or Blackfyre arrives into the Westerosi fray in a time of opportunity in unstable Westerosi wars, switch your sides to them and repudiate any promised marriages to characters loyal to Baratheon or Lannister enemies and their allies!
If i am not mistaken lord monfort dies in the blackwater (in the books) and is described as ambitious and opportunistic as he chooses stannis' cause with the idea of recovering the influence the velaryons had in the targeryen era. So maybe don't be targeryen loyalist but opportunistic following the most profitable cause.
What’s the best way to play this mod and improve the stability / less lag? I downloaded it for the time the other day and played as Ned Stark at the start of the rebellion, raised all my banners and the game was literally unplayable… I’ve never had an issue with stability or lag in any game to date with my set up
You can name your acolytes with land animals into sea such Acolytes of Sea Lion, Acolytes of Sea Horse, Acolytes of Sea Wolf, Acolytes of Sea Eagle . 😊😊
I would suggest marrying some of your children off to people in essos if you want to keep Valyrian blood. Historically, a couple of Targaryen kings married Lyseni women as well as some Princes. It could also set you up for some plays in the step stones and disputed lands role play wise
Seaform is a horrible name for the sword. I say when a worthy succesor comes he should rename it with something that shows that the house strives to see valryians rule the seven kingdoms again
Although I love the idea, he’s have to make his own original Valyrian for that. I’m interested in seeing what the actual Velaryon Al’s would do with an agenda to get the High Valyrians back on the throne
The only issue I have with making the Velaryons black for the show is that Velaryons and Targaryens are closely related. For example, Alyssa Velaryon was mother of king Jaehaerys and lord Boremund Baratheon, who were portrayed in the show and they don't look like they had a black mother.
Velaryon is amazing! Suggestion to keep the playthrough focused on your Valyrian heritage - marry other high Valyrians, support the continued existance of High Valyrian houses etc :)

2:28 As far as I can see from various wikis, Seafoam is a mod-only item.

The mod is book canon. Black Velaryons were made up for the show.
The only issue I have with making the Velaryons black for the show is that Velaryons and Targaryens are closely related. For example, Alyssa Velaryon was mother of king Jaehaerys and lord Boremund Baratheon, who were portrayed in the show and they don't look like they had a black mother.
Your description says you used community flavour pack in your mod list, even though that mod does not work with AGOT?
