  • Right Angle Military Flashlight Rehabilitation Part 1. I honestly did not realize how long this was going to be when I started editing it and I now realize it will be at least two parts. Maybe three. I will try to have part 2 up on Wednesday morning so you won't be left in suspense too long! :-)

    That's a cool flashlight! It's great that parts are still available! I wonder if a pencil chucked in a drill eraser end facing out would work on that contact?

    • @timeflysintheshop
      @timeflysintheshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oooo that's a good idea right there! We still have one of these motorized erasers at work. However, Mr Fulton himself has clued me into a more simple solution. The springy contact that hits the bottom of the bulb will slide out. The other end of that contact is the one inside that I couldn't reach! I will show this on the last video about the flashlight on Friday!

    That's a great item and flashlights are quite important tools. Particularly these very iconic military flashlights that are super durable and versatile. These Fultons particularly are very durable but the Rothco copies are also. In fact this design is so durable and practical that it has been widely copied. The French military copy is also very good.

    I have one of these flashlights. Mine is dated USN 1942 and is very similar to yours in external appearance. It has a small threaded bulb, and like yours, the base cap spring needed an Evaporust treatment. Two small screws hold the switch to the body. It disassembled, and was dirty inside. I dont know if Fulton made my flashlight, but I'm going to check. It would be great to do the led upgrade, which looks like an easy job. Thanks for the useful restoration tips. New subscriber.

      Thanks for watching and subscribing! I am glad my videos were helpful. There is quite a bit of history to these flashlights, and you can look it up on wikipedia as fulton mx991/u flashlight. You may find some reference to your flashlight in the "design" section where it talks about the history of the development. Based on your description, I think yours would be a TL-122A.

      The designation for the bulb to fit that flashlight is "PR6". If you can not find it locally, search on the internet for a PR6 bulb OR a PR6 LED bulb if you want the batteries to last longer. The LED bulb needs to be for 3 volts. 1 watt is fine, if you get a 3 watt, it will be super bright!

      @timeflysintheshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      So it turns on, but does not stay on? Hmm. Does it come back on if you push on the switch as if driving the switch into the body of the flashlight?

    • @HumbleCowboy92
      @HumbleCowboy92 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timeflysintheshop That is correct. The only way I can get the light to come on is by depressing the switch while it in the second and third position. It will only stay on as long as I have the button depressed. Thanks again for your help! I really want to be able to use this light. I bought it brand new already converted to LED

    • @timeflysintheshop
      @timeflysintheshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HumbleCowboy92 Ok. The switch slides into two positions. The first one up is the signal position where the light does not work unless you press the round button. If you push the sliding bit further up, the light should stay on without pushing on the round signal button. So if yours is working as if in the signal position, R U SURE, you just have not pushed the sliding switch all the way up? If the flashlight is brand new, maybe it is a little stiff??? If you are sure you have moved the switch to the correct position and it still does not work, I would exchange or return it for another one.
