There is no one on the planet that loves their job more than a well-treated, healthy Border Collie herding a flock of sheep under the guidence of their supervisor.
What a wonderful thing to say, good on you.
Croatian sheep dog comes to my mind difference being that BCs are doing their work in complete silence whereas the Hrvatski ovčar does it by barking in this regard the BC creeps me out a little bit whereas the Croatian sheepdigs can be annoying at times😂
Then you aren't aware of the Welsh Sheepdog that are superior to Border Collies. While Border Collies simply herd in open pastures with their single focused stare down gaze, Welsh Sheepdogs CAN herd sheep that have wandered into the forest... using their wider peripheral sight to dodge trees while herding. The Border Collie wouldn't last. The Welsh Sheepdog is also a taller, broader, stronger and more solid a dog. Alas, the Welsh Sheepdog is far smaller in numbers but those that are in the know... know better and marvel at the multiple talents of these incredible dogs.
@@lesliejackson149 No doubt there are superior dogs in comparison to the Border Collie. But the sheep didn't get the message...
My BC will go after deer in the forest. First nose to the ground, she tracks them down. Then she slowly flanks them as the deer cautiously watch. Then without warning, she rushes them into a panic. Finally, she stops and enjoys the moment of fleeing deer. One day she plunged into the woods after a deer, only to suddenly run out of the woods, with a stag with sharp antlers chasing her.
At the end of the video, when Sean said... "That'll DO..." my BC laid down and stopped working.
Mine are way too picky to listen to his voice, there are only a few people my borders listen to XD. not even my colleagues or boss can work with my borders, only me and one employer
@@renata3559 In reality, I meant it as a JOKE. The reason why I wrote what I wrote is because Sean typically says, "That'll Do" when he's out in the field and is telling his BCs that their work is DONE. Then in this case, when he ENDED this video, without even thinking, he said "That'll DO".... without any dogs around. So, it was clear that he was just bringing the video to a close in the same way he brings a "herding episode" to an end. So, I thought I would make it SEEM as though he had such power and control over my dog, by ME saying... my dog laid down when Sean made his statement. ---- FWIW - I could watch those dogs 20 times a day. They are SO competent !!
In fact, I FULLY agree with what you said. BCs KNOW the voice of their masters and respond EXCLUSIVELY to them. Mine was that way, and WOW, did he respond QUICKLY if I addressed something where he was going to WORK !!!! He was ALWAYS ready. How MUCH I miss him.
😂❤
My 2 pitties continued snoring
Mine is sleeping, lol
This is ten times more interesting than anything out of Hollywood. Sick of tv. Love this.
Always wondered what Echo might be seeing. Now I have a better idea. The dog-cam view is amazing!
Glad you liked it!
This young man is so mature and focused! He keeps his eye on the ball extremely well for a man this young. And he works very hard . Kudos to whoever raised him up!
Thank you we raised him
@@seanthesheepman5845 - Sean, I believe the comment was aimed at you, 'for a MAN this young'. While Echo is awesome, YOU are amazing with your strong work ethic, especially at such a young age. And Kudos to your parents for raising you to be this responsible!! .... I agree!
@GunnWrights Yes I agree. Well said.
Kudos to your mom and dad Sean! They raised you. @@seanthesheepman5845
Hey let’s hear more about Sean and his family !
It surprises me that the sheep don't learn the herding commands & start herding themselves. I guess it only works on herding dogs. Great video! Cheers!
Thanks
It’s a well known fact that sheep are stupid
Echo did well but seeing the sheep becoming defiant made me laugh. Hope you guys had a great weekend!
Thank you, have a nice weekend
Most folks, myself included, probably never thought about how much work goes into herding sheep. It's amazing how your four legged companions are an extension of you. I love seeing the dog cam!
Thanks for watching
Echo = A beautiful, loving, loyal and hardworking doggo! If more people had Echo’s work ethic, my, what a much better place this world would be! That’ll do. Thanks, Sean!
With admiration,
Scott
Couldn't agree more! Thank you
It's the breed, the work ethic, BUT, Echo loved what she's doing. That's the gift Sean gives him/ her I forget
What a brilliant video with this kind, gentle sheep farmer and his intelligent& brilliantly trained sheepdog!👍🥰
@@cecilefox9136 ‘That’ll do!’ 🐾💕🐕👍🏻
Echo is a hard worker. You've trained him so well. He wants to do his best for you. Like the doggie cam. Blessings to you and your wife.
Thank you I will pass them on
Your broadcast is a great relief from the troubles of the world. Thank you very much.
You are very welcome
So much credit to everyone working a farm - Sean & family. Much appreciate all you do.
So nice of you
Och, aye !!
Echo is working the sheep so well. You must be very proud of him! He is learning how the sheep react to being moved. He will be moving them, soon, without needing as much direction from you. I love how you can see him in this video looking for direction from you when he is unsure about what to do next. Such an incredible dog! He is a good and beautiful dog. You have done a great job training him, so far. Keep up the good work!🙂
And, that'll do, for now, from a border collie and sheep fan from the Texas panhandle!♥️🌞👍🙌
Yes he has been a lot of fun to train thank you
Pretty much word for word what I was about to write!❤
When they are this well trained for sheep. How would they be around kids? Like would they still be cuddly and playful around kids?
I feel one could bring such a dog out for a jogging even if it's a fairly long run.
@@kriss3d They are great to jog, ride bikes, anything! They are the smartest dogs and they love their family!
I have never had sheep but I've had border collies and they are so much fun. The great thing about kids is they can play with them. All of ours love fetching a ball or doing tricks like sit, stay, roll over, shake, high 5s, you name it, they can do it! I took ours to the park and they all would climb up the slide and slide down it, they are great fun with agility training.
They are lovely pets!!!
A great series, thank you, Sean!!
I love watching BCs working, singly or in pairs/trios, plus the scenery (in the Stewartry?).
Shades of 'One man and his dog' back in the mists of time.
Good luck, you deserve it.
Beyond amazing. That dog is so focused and obedient it could probably corral a herd of cats!
Hello Sean. Appreciate the upload. Nice to see Echo taking a spotlight in your recent upload.
Thank you
Love the dog cam. It amazes me how one dog can keep the herd in control although those naughty sheep gave Echo quite busy. Thanks for sharing. I also love the 🎶
Thanks for watching
I’ve never had a dog, only cats. But these videos are such a joy to watch these intelligent, well loved animals. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing you life! It's lovely seeing Scotland, your dogs, the sheep, and meeting Stacy! Also - great job with showing off the boots. Hope this channel just grows and grows!
I also wish him tons of success and hope for this channel to grow immensely. He surely deserves it! Such a hard worker and does such a good job taking care of all his animals.
Thank you so much!
Echo is amazing but will never replace Kate for the love of my heart.😊
Naughty woolies indeed! Rather stubborn and ornery today, but maybe because their kids were withem, they were in protect mode. I think maybe Echo was confused by their behavior, but this was a very good experience for him. I'm surprised the cows were docile round their babes. Ya, me too for wanten to put a gentle hand on their heads to assure them. Good one, Sean.
The cow are use to me being around
The dramatic music, perfect 😂. I love watching working dogs. My dad would have watched tf out of your content.
Love this all so much.
Thanks so much!!
Those sheep understand your calls. They were definitely testing Echo, as if to say, "You herding us, or what?" 😂 ❤ There's this clip of a herder pitching his smartest ram to challenge his Collie(looked like a part of the training and testing). He was teasing the Collie by encouraging the ram instead, the black ram was following through and enjoying the game.
Haha fun
@@seanthesheepman5845 th-cam.com/users/shortsWG-nlYMu8dk?si=xVrgoJHSYiM_ae8G
I only caught on to it when I saw the man's smile.
***the sheep's so not a black ram*** I've become color blind in my memory bank 😬😂😂
Doggie cam is cool! Incredible work by Echo!
Thank you
Love this countryside view of Scotland. I can smell the grass and dew. Thank you for sharing.
Just lost my 18 year old Border Collie (non working...just loving and playing). Found your channel Sean and am so enthralled with the wonderful animals you are training. Just unbelievably beautiful and so smart. I will keep watching.
Congrats on the sponsorship!
Those squirrel-y sheep! You and Echo do so well with them, as always. Thanks for a glimpse into your day with this amazing border collie!
Great, practical shoes! Your feet always stay dry and warm. Echo is a diligent student and enjoys learning.
Yes! Thank you!
Love watching these videos! Young Echo is coming along nicely. You have great calmness and patience! Good attributes for a DAD!!!
Thanks so much!
Echo KNOWS his stuff. The amazing aspect of the BC is their ability to take directions extremely quickly, but bolt just as fast to block a sheep who's trying to make a break. Also, the level of DEDECATION that a BC has for both the owner and the work is INCREDIBLE !!
The BC is NOT just a dog, but the ONLY dog.
Best dog in the world a bc
Good job with Echo! He kept his cool with those recalcitrant beasties…
Love your 4 legged family, you and your beautiful wife!🐾❤️🐾❤️
Thank you so much!
He’s moving left and right without even being told! Brilliant doggo!
I think Echo is the oldest of his 3 generations.
I thought he was two years old
Sean, i think you are gonna hit 200k in the next week or so! Greetings from New Hampshire, USA, hope you and Stacy have a great week!
Fingers crossed!thanks for your support
Scenery, amazing dogs, music... your videos are awesome and almost hypnotic. Excellent editing!! ❤
Thank you very much!
I'm from New Hampshire in the US, and every year there is a nearby Scottish Festival/Highland games. My favorite part was the sheepdog competition, and it was always amazing to watch all the different competitors over the course of the day, as they were all so incredible.
64 yo grandma here, I am going to refer to him as "kid" because I call everyone kid that's a lot younger than me, no disrespect intended. I'm one generation removed from farming, dad chose college over farming for his career choice, but his brother still farmed. As a kid I'd go spend summers on their farm as opposed to growing up in St Louis MO. To this day, I wish that my daddy had been a farmer instead of a Doctor of Education lol. My cousins started working very young in life as their farm grew. There are always chores that can be done on a farm that youngsters can do so that mom and dad can get their chores finished while keeping an eye on them. There wasn't a lot of sitting around in front of the TV. If you weren't busy doing chores, there were too many fun things to do outdoors on a farm, or at least for a kid growing up in a .5 acre yard in St Louis. We lived in a neighbourhood, a darned good neighbourhood, but we were cramped by their standards. As adults, all 4 became hardworking folks who each chose a different career, but kept their hands in farming. This kid probably grew up with hard work and problem solving skills which is also a big part of farming. This film was so fascinating to watch as the kid very patiently trains the young dog the commands that he must learn in order to both lead and protect the herd. When it comes to training animals to do anything, patience is key, that and respect for the animal. This kid has both, and he's coupled with one of the most intelligent dogs on the planet, a boarder collie. They should do well together ❤
I always enjoyed stumbling upon "competitive" herding TV shows, which is one of those weirdly fascinating activities that not many are aware of outside of GB.
I'd also heard of occasions when the dog will relentlessly herd the flock just for kicks, to the point that some of the ewes get badly stressed... I don't know the accuracy of this claim, but it certainly looks like Echo loves his work. 😄
Straight-up rockstars!! 🖤🤍❤️🔥
Good boy ! Beautiful. ❤
Amazing video Sean. Echo is amazing!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you
Thank you too!
That was absolutely awesome to watch! Echo is a total star and that dogcam was a super bonus 🤩
love the little moment when you pet the cow. Working with animals can be a rough job but it does pay off with moments like that imo
Good footwear is so very important!👍
Fantastic video, Sean!!! Just loved it. A great big smile for me today. Thanks so very much!!!
Hello from the Pacific Northwest. I love all your videos, well done! About 2 years ago I adopted a Border Collie that was surrendered because he is vision impaired. Buster was a working dog on a cattle ranch and a cow kicked him in the head and he lost his sight. He still wants to work so bad and it's the cat now. I wish he could run again like Kate, Storm and Echo. When I got him I really knew nothing about working dogs and it has been a great learning experience. Watching your videos helped too.
That is awesome! You have done a nice thing taking him in sorry to hear about his accident
My mom and her husband adopted a working border collie. The farmer breeds them and trains the 2 he thinks are best for a year and sells the others. After the year he keeps the best one. Koda was second place. So smart and willing to work but she just doesn’t have the temperament. She loooves being a family dog now and she loves to herd the cats around the house. Thanks for taking Buster in. ❤
@@shaquillemcgonigle1898Buster was probably a good one since he was already 6 when he got hurt. He doesn't know toys or the couch or any of the things that make a normal pet. There are a lot of unknowns, I did not get a lot of info from the shelter.
I always heard that BCs should not be working cattle for just that reason (getting kicked)... It's a different breed that's meant for working cattle (I guess cattle dogs). So glad you provided a home for him! :) God bless you & yours! From Texas, USA
@@Antonia_D Indeed, the trainer I contacted after I got him said exactly that, BCs are soft dogs, working with their eyes and not their bodies. He is an awesome dog and even though it's challenging sometimes, I am really glad he is here.
i could watch this all day
Coal black and horned! They're glorious!
Such a smart, doggo! I adore the shots of him rolling in the grass haha!
We just adopted a border collie puppy yesterday!! He will be used to herd my chickens and grandson!!
Phew! Poor Echo and poor sheep, a hard morning's work! Everybody take a break 😄
I remember an old Shepard telling me that the trick was to not over-command the dog so that he could learn to think for himself. That way a smart dog would not end up unsure & questioning himself. Works for child rearing too. Smart old guy. One of the best life lessons I learned.
Thank you for more info on sheep health and care for them. My late uncle lived in NZ and they are all about their sheep, too. I got to visit once back in the early 1980's. Never got the chance to learn as much about them as I'd have liked. Also loved the dog-cam view. Them sheep were certainly ballsy, weren't they? Also loved the cattle. Beautiful animals, all of them.
Thank you glad you enjoyed
OMG! I just love the dog-cam view. You can really see how fast these doggies are running - Wow!
Love watching Echo working he’s such a smart dog. Thanks for sharing Sean you work and live in a beautiful place ❤
Echo. Stealth. Extra treats for handsome Echo!
Great job Echo!
Facinating to watch! Thank you. Echo is so awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A pleasure to see a good dog working! Well done, young man!
I'm fast like Echo today!
🎉
Yes you are!
This channel is my new every morning dog watch to set me up for the day. I'm old enough (just) to have loved sitting on a sunday morning in my twenties (hungover probably) watching one man and his dog and these videos bring me every mornjng joy.
Echo saves you legs a lot I bet he sleeps well after a days work! This was so interesting thank you!
Those newborn calves are so cute. They must trust you to let you so near their babies.
Well done man, and bordercolli. Best dogs in the world
Love the dog cam! Thanks for adding that perspective. Makes that complex interaction very fun to watch.
That lovely patter is music to my ears. ❤️🏴
'I got my eyes on you, sheeps!'
Amazing talent and skill Echo! Thanks for sharing this.
Love to all bordercollies, so lovely and smart
Love watching the BC’s at work. So fascinating.
Nothing better than watching well trained BCs!
Honestly, I could watch dogs working sheep all day. The way the shepherd and dog work together just blows my mind every time. Amazing. 🤯🤩
This is great. Thanks! ❤
Love the dog-cam!! Great to see their perspective.
Wonderful video! Love seeing Echo work!❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
Really like watching you and the dogs. God bless.
Thank you for all the work in creating your videos. Love the dog cam.
Oh My Goodness… when you first gave Echo the “Away” he disappeared…
I knew it wouldn’t be for long…🐑🐑🐑🐑🐕💨
I could listen to this mellifluous guy all day long. 🙂
The GoPro took me for a ride to see how talented Echo is. Thx&see ya😁
Amazing Echo!
We love your channel, Sean. Your collies are all amazing and you are also a responsible fur daddy.
Wow it's amazing to watch Echo without Stormy or Kate, he's nowhere near as confident on his own is he? He's learning and trying so very hard tho 😊 what a wee legend he is 🙏 good job Sean!
Amazing beautiful dancewith the sheep and the shepard!!!
I love the dramatic sheepherding music!
Love the Go Pro footage from the dogs view, good job Echo!
I wonder at people who keep border collies as pets. Fabulous dog and a farmer who really loves his job too. Beautiful animals.❤
I love the collie cam! So interesting to see the process from the dog's perspective. Also, great music.
Love watching Echo doing what God made him to do.
Thanks
Fantastic insight into farm life. And as for a collie’s work commitment! I need that. 😍
2:28 its like a sneaky Jaws cam 😂 “duuuuuun dun. Duuuuuuun dun…”
My word Echo you certainly earned your dinner that day ❤
A working Border Collie sheep dog is a wonder to watch. The dog gets so much satisfaction out of it that "working" is probably the wrong word. And while a short video gives you an idea, the whole day starts with the farmer telling his dog(s) to get up into the vehicle (no encouragement needed), the drive out to the paddocks through gates etc, finding the flock and setting the dog on to them, with continuous commands from the farmer until the herding has been done into another paddock or whatever.
Your brilliant with your sheepdogs, I love the way you are so natural and wish you so much for your future. really you should have your own BBC show about rural and countryside. Keep up this excellent work. Wonderful to see your amazing team working together. Donr forget money cannot buy what you have.
I could watch these amazing dogs all day.
Never get tired of seeing the intelligence of work friends
Partnership
I like how calm and pleasant you and everyone around you are.
I feel right at home amongst these black sheep! Love the ear cam.❤️
It seems like the black sheep are more challenging for the dog. Love how the dog responds to your commands! ❤
The dog-cam is so fun. Love that perspective. Enjoyed this video very much!
I work at a desk all week these videos are such an escape 😂 great job! Love the dogcam bits too
I adore watching you work your sheep with your dog.
I don't know a thing about dogs overall. Yet without knowing much I can say that this dog, is an outstanding animal.
Kristine Scarpetti, Chicago< glad you got some free boots, free is always better! I say those commands to my dogs when I let them outside, they cock their heads because they watch your videos!! Thank you for the education as always and for being kind to the sheep, looking after the animals to remain healthy, best to Stacey. Echo is a champ!!
Thank you so much it’s appreciated
Echo’s focus is outstanding.
I love watching you all in action in the fields. There was a book about a champion border collie named Fly. After reading that, I fell in love with the world of herding on high lands. Had three Borders. Best dogs. Kept the kids in line when outdoors!
