This a perfect example of how good hockey was back then. There were so many characters and that includes coaches and referees etc. the top teams had a great collection of skaters, shooters, tough D men and skilled D men. Outstanding goalies! I was at this game & the next 3 games ( the Canucks won it 4-2) with my then Busty Stripper GF, were sitting 16 rows up behind the Canucks bench, aisle seats. I had designed a sign that read " We dowsed the Flames, Shot Down The Stars, & Now We'll Burn The Leafs . . . I told them sure, but with an unlimited food & beer/drink vouchers during each game. They agreed, then the CBC Producer asked if my GF could wear the similar different bikini top & similar tight jean shorts to each game, stand up, hold up the sign & jump up & down while moving the sign from left to right during line changes & before face-offs. She told them it wasn't a problem, she could do that. . . Which she did the next 5 home games. . . During the Finals we'd been invited to meet Arthur Griffiths son's & wife in their private suite & enjoy a pregame buffet. It was nice to meet him & have several topical conversations with him. I ended up getting 25% discount on Season's Tickets. I continued as a season tickets holder for the next few years. Then I moved my 1 business venture to Asia, part of my business conversations with Mr. Griffiths. The Canucks didn't make another Cup Finals run for 16 yrs. . . Most of us saw or where there & still recollect that terrible forever sore eye of an incident to haunt Vancouver. . . . Hopefully next time it'll be a happier celebration.

@jasonjansen9831 funny, but somehow this season has the same feel to it as 94. There is a lot of chippy play around the league right now. Players are taking things into their own hands again as the refs either miss too much or are not doing a good enough job of keeping things contained on the ice.
@hugomikaelsson4055 for 94 yeah that was considered a clean hit. It would be a minor in today's NHL but it was fun to watch how such a minor incident set off such a melee. Hunters hands were up, and he left his feet a bit but that was a tame hit for the era and for that series in particular.
Back then drilling a guy in the face might get you two minutes in the box. Cross checking was considered a good play. Hooking was fine , you could do that for a three count.

Disgraceful display by Van Hellemond. Call the hold on Gilmour before he got the puck and the rest doesn’t happen.
