Of course, there are states where the bills are automatically generate from system and the chances of such scams happening are very little. But there are other states where these scams are still ongoing
A few days ago we observed a strange phenomenon : We never receive our electricity bill on time! We are sure most of you also must've faced this. The only possible reasons we could come up with were: the DISCOMS are lethargic and generate bills as and when they deem fit or there's something really fishy which we don't understand.
We decided to dig a little and the revelations were shocking to say the least.
There's a big scam going on with generation of these bills, apparently just by tweaking certain dates the companies are able to extract extra amounts from customers. Even if this affects 5-10% of the customer it ends up snowballing into a huge number (thousands crores) for these companies.

They do calculation mistakes knowingly, we have to go for correction, if someone doesn't know about it, he has to pay that amount

I am a government electricity employee from Gujarat... Madam u r completely wrong. Behind the bill, calculation write in monthly basis agar 2 mahine me ata hai to unit 30-30 days ka slab karke hi calculate karta hai vo 60 din me aye ya 90days me aye koe fark nahi padta...aur exactly 2 mahine pe ana chahia vo possible hi nahi hai...aur abhi software bhi aisa hai 30 day ke bad ata hai to automatically 30 day se 1 unit ke rate se calculate karta hai...naki continue rate se....plz completely study then shoot a video...👍

@@Ashu_Kumar21 एसबीआई या अन्य पब्लिक सेक्टर/पुराना प्राइवेट सेक्टर बैंक में स्टाफ के तुलना में कस्टमर बेस बहुत ज्यादा है भाई। अगर लाइन लगे लगे हुए 2 बज जाता है तो समझना की (कुछ एक मामलों के अलावा) कैशियर हर संभव कोशिश किया था लाइन समाप्त करने का मगर हो नहीं पाता है तो मजबूरन आधा घंटे का विराम लेना जरूरी हो जाता है। और इस बात की इजाज़त बैंक एंप्लॉयज सर्विस मैनुअल में। दिया गया है। कैश या सर्विस काउंटर का काम आसान नहीं होता है भाई, इतना भीड़ में एक भी रुपया इधर से उधर गया तो पूरा जेब से भरना पड़ता है। अब इंसानियत के दृष्टि से ये बताओ कि क्या आधा घंटा विराम लेना गलत है? और बैंक एम्पलाइज पे हंसने से ज्यादा अच्छा होगा की आप सरकार के पास इस सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से ही पर्याप्त संख्या में स्टाफ देने की मांग रखें। हम तो रख रख के थक गए मगर न सरकार सुनती है न प्रबंधन। बैंक स्टाफ का काम, ज़िम्मेदारी के बोझ तले दयनीय अवस्था है भाई। सच में बदलाव लाना चाहते हैं तो सरकार से, बैंक प्रबंधन से अतिरिक्त स्टाफ का मांग करें। कुछ एक के अलावा हम सारे बैंक कर्मी हमारे ग्राहकों के हित के बारे में ही सोचते हैं कि कैसे उनका काम जल्द से जल्द बन जाए।
Completely wrong madam, I worked in Power Distribution as an executive engineer. Bill is always in slabs and bill is calculated for 2 months then bill in calculated individually for each month and then added
She is right & Rules vary from state to state.
In Telangana, discom people sometimes bills 2-3 days late , this is because the slab changes. And in Lock down 3 months Pwr consumption is not billed , even after online mentioned monthly minimum bill payment , they've charged us on total units for 3months with respect from the first month slab rates.
Due to this common people are forced to pay 30k to 50k which if billed on time wouldn't had crossed 5K.

This similar case happened to me as well, and they tried to charge is 10k straight,
Fortunately i had all the records of meter and payment receipts,
And also that u observed that they charged us the reading for directly 1 year, instead of 4 months...
We did a bit of talk with them and they happily settled it.
Thank god that they were not rude and understood that it was fault from their system...

This happened to us during covid and our bill for 3 month was 24000
I knew it already and have always protested against that
I always ask them to take the reading every month
And if this is done during summer months you have no idea how much extra you can actually pay so be aware of this and pressurize them to take readings each month
Now fixed in my circle. Assume first slab has 30 units. If Bill comes after 2nd month, then that first slab is increased to 60 units. And similarly for other delays and other slabs.

Now you have to recharge first to use electricity.. No need of meter reader who visit your place every end or start of the month. Beekafayti ko lagta h unlogo ne v follow krna shuru kr diya h..

If the bill come every month then the fixed charges will be charged every month... while right now if 2 mnths bill is there then fixed charges given for 2mnths
It's because if the govt charges tax of 5% on bill for 1st month then the tax for 2nd month is 13% . That's why the bill amount increases.. Check ur bills... It's mentioned on the bill itself... Therefore the billing should be done on monthly basis.

The electricity bill is calculated on per day basis, i.e. they generate the bill to the date when meter reading is read. bills are not exactly generated on completing a month but to date when a govt employee take reading from meter which may be on 55th day or 70th day.
Thanks for the awareness however each state/company have their own calculation methods & different unit charges for different category of consumers.

Nowadays they are taking the wrong reading in Bangalore. Recently I have observed the actual reading in the meter is 3480 but he entered 3566. When we were in the house. He silently comes and generates a bill. Plz, be with him while generating the bill. This is big scam.

It's not a scam, it's too complex due to different components having different slab rate. Also if we received bill for one and half month then they will consider slab rate of 0-100 to calculate 0-150 unit.

This and lot of other scams, if you use 299 units, they'll round it up to 300, so that we'll paying in the next per unit bracket. Wish we had govt. like AAP in every state and UT.

This is what happens when you smoke weed and start making videos on topics you have no idea. 😂 It is calculated for each month then added back. And for months such as covid lockdowns they couldn't take the reading hence they take average value for each month to calculate the amount.
In Some of the advanced metering system you don't even need that as the meter automatically keeps the record on daily basis so it doesn't matter when the meter reader took the reading it is calculated monthly basis.

You are calculating it wrong. The formula they use for 2 months(60 days) is = (60×4)+(140×5)+(100×7). Please carefully read your bill. Bill is genrated on per day basis. For example, if you receive bill after 70 days and you have consumed 400 units, then for 0-30 at 4, will be [(30+30+10)×4] i.e. 70×4. This will also apply for other slabs also.

In January he comes early and bill is given for 20 days and 60 units
In February he adds up 10 days of January and bill comes for 40 days and units cross the slab of 100 so bill gets doubled
In lockdown we were billed continuosly for 90 days
To overcome this telangana power companies now gave option to self billing by user itself

Choose self generated bill
Electricity bills will generate when electrican comes to home and take meter reading. He comes in 2 months , so until he will not take reading, we can't do anything.

We are paying equivalent to 14 months electricity bill in a year.
I have contacted to the local electricity distribution officials, and they says the bill is calculated on the basis of average daily consumption i.e if they take the reading of 20days they will take average to decide the rate per unit of electricity. If your daily consumption is more than 5units per day then then you have to pay more and government subsidy also gets cut if per day consumption is more than 5units.
You might have to pay somewhat extra on some months because they sometimes takes the security of almost 3months of electricity bill in advance and for that you get the interest as well(that you can see in your bill).

But tata power is calculating the price by taking this into consideration .
So where tata power is the discom no need to worry that bill comes in one month or in two or whatever .
In Punjab, this is not the case, we get Bill every two months, but the rate is calculated monthly, so for example: if 0-100, 101-200 ₹5 is ₹3 per unit, we have used 180 Units in two months, we get 180×3= 540Rs as Energy charges and not 100× 3 + 80× 5 = ₹700
I am working in UGVCL and I know how bill is calculated. At the backside of your bill copy you will find rates of units slab wise. Those rates are written for one month but if your light bill gets generated every two months (bi-monthly) than those slabs also gets doubled. For example if 0-50 units charge is 3 rs/unit Then for bi-monthly slab will be doubled and slab will become 0-100 units for 3 rs/unit.
This is the reason why female teachers are not there in IIT

Electricity bills are generated every month by Power Distribution Companies online and you should be able to check and pay your bill online every month by checking it on their website or any Payment app such PhonePe or GooglePay.
Your bill is generated online even if it's not yet sent to your home.

All those people blaming this girl and calling her wrong. So yes Bill is calculated for each month but there are many instances when The meter guy arrived after 2 months. And that's where the bill pilled up and we got to pay unfair amount. It has happened with me many times.

Wrong, for Rajasthan.. even in COVID days when reading was not taken.. when i reconciled the bill i was not charged a penny as the rates were basis average consumption.

आप अगर हर महिने बिल भरते हो तो पर units आप कम देते हो क्योंकि कम units पर कम पैसे देने पड़ते है, लेकिन बिल फिर भी उतना ही देना पड़ेगा बल्की और भी ज्यादा देना पड़ेगा क्योंकि एक महिने के बिल में भी हमें अलग से जो चार्ज लगते है वह भी देने पड़ते है जैसे फ्यूल चार्ज, मीटर चार्ज आदि।
तो आप कुछ भी कर लो बिजली बिल का कुछ नही होने वाला।

same happen to us .... we have complaint many times but they don't any action . after 6 month they change the meter .. and today on 19 oct 2023 our bill is around Rs 7500 and on previous month our bill is around 150
Now electricity bill is prepaid so they charge according to unit consumed and we have to recharge it like our data plans
They calculate seprate rates for each month .... They do total the bill after calculating bill separately for both months ....

On an average, billing cycle jitni badi hogi utna customer ko fayda... E.g. first month unit consumed 100 second month unit consumed 300, to average calculation se do mahine ka ek bill km ho skta hai in comparison to monthly bill. Isiliye private company h agr bijli ki to generally bill monthly aata hai, sarkari mein do mahine ka 1 aata hai
