Thank you for that . I really needed it today. I live and hunt in Maine . I have put a lot of time in and feel like I'm doing everything wrong. I even left the woods early today out of frustration. I don't know if it is the lack of rain or what is happening in my area that I hunt. Usually at least see deer and nothing . Again thank you for your words and encouragement. I just need to do something different. But I won't give up what I love .
@@STICKBOW-STEVE not exactly. the more pressure you put on deer in the same area the more you'll ruin your chances. that's why its good to have at least a couple spots but many people these days with more & more woods being cut down don't have that luxury.
@@josh903x sort of true, but many gps studies have been done... Deer don't go far away... They always return... They use us humans as pylons!!! Anywhere you walk you are leaving a scent trail that stays around 2 to 3+ hours... I have seen many times in snow deer tracks doing a 180 when they hit tracks. Once on a hill top in NH by MA border bow hunting... I saw Mama Bear and 4 cubs smell my trail from 9 HOURS ago... They all ended up at the base of my ladder... Mama putting her paws on rungs to start climbing and I was watching her nose going in and out. All I did was softly clear my throat... Hilarious seeing 5 bears running over each other running for their life!!! 😂😂😂 In sum: know where you walked.
Agree with ya brother things do seem off this season and it does get discouraging but Taylor is so right. It’s about the process success is just the topping on the cake. Subconsciously when you aren’t successful u wonder what it is you’re doing wrong but just being out there is the biggest battle. The rest is mostly luck, and the deers luck will eventually run out and yours will show up
@bryantmartineau6039 Here in MA and NH lots of acorns.. deer don't have to move far from bedroom to the fridge... It's bedside! 😂 That could be part of the problem. I just scored on a 125 pound spike at my maine camp Friday....Yup my 11th day hunting all day in the woods. 6 straight years getting Maine bucks: starting 2019 got 150, then 190, 221, 214, 165, and this year 125. I tell people just keep sitting if you have a good spot until you think you are nuts or retarded... Eventually deer will come by. They use trails or "corridors" but infrequently in Maine. Dick Scorzafava just died I see in the Hawkeye. 😢 He always said the way to kill big bucks is to WEAR OUT BOOTS!!! 😉 (Meaning do a lot of deer recon)
I haven’t shot a Buck in 15 years but that’s ok. So many blessings out there in Nature! It’s our church everyday when you are out in the woods. You are getting wise with age Taylor and that is a really good thing. Continued good luck buddy! 🦌🌲🦌
Thank you Taylor I had knee surgery just before deer season and it's been very rough not being able to get out like I would have done in the past all I can do is watch fields across from my home I try every day but no luck yet . Thanks I needed the pep talk
You said it all...I have needed that talk every season, some times it works out, sometimes not, but I regret when the season is over either way. Good job. Good luck.
Nice job Taylor, I can feel the empathy, thank you. Living in southern Maine, I’m privileged to partake in Expanded Archery, so I get a few deer but last Monday I had an encounter that left me SHAKING! I set a climber out Sunday afternoon with two nice trails converging about 39 yards out front ( 1 passing just 5 yards to my left). I have a doe come in while it was raining and didn’t like something about the big thing in the tree. Then I hear a cracking of branches to my left. So much so, in my minds eye, I knew it was a human coming in. Much to OUR surprise, a massive 8 point is just behind my left side, under me, he startled, jumps back a little, then goes out to about 17 yards broadside. Unfortunately, he’s now in my downwind and the carry strap on my crossbow hooked under the front of my climber so I couldn’t shoulder the crossbow. He sees me dislodge the strap and that was enough for him, and he lopes off. Discouraging… maybe Exciting…. Definitely I wouldn’t trade the experience in for anything. Enjoy your time up north Taylor, you always seem to do it right. Let Beave show you how 😂😂😂
It's like you were talking directly to me bud. Target buck got killed Friday night by a neighbor. Gun season opened today. Seen 5 spikes. Lol haven't seen a decent buck since the target buck was alive. Gotta dig in. Gotta push through the slump. Thanks man, at the end of the day it's time in the woods with my dad and being together. Happy hunting!
Every hunter, Every person needs that "Buddy on a Log." Thanks for being ours! A friend asked the other day if I had any luck. "I'm always lucky. Lucky to be out walking through the woods. Hiking into the hills, down into valleys. Seeing the wilds of NH/VT. Most days, the deer are pretty lucky, too."
Ive had great success with the bow the past 3 years. Gun season comes along and i get skunked. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around lol. I get out ever chance i can and keep chugging along
The past 3 seasons I've shot a buck. It's been nice to see success like that! It took patience and hard work. This year, I've seen 10 or 11 bucks so far in archery season. But, I haven't had an opportunity at any of them. But man the fun in watching them cruise around or chase does. I even watched one carefully follow behind a hunter as he slipped through on the trail of a hot doe. My trail cameras have caught a ton of wildlife. Lots of bears, nice bucks, flying squirrels, skunks, raccoons, Turkeys, porcupines etc. I think I was just as pumped about getting a porcupine on trail camera as I was getting the awesome bucks I have videos of. The highlight of my season was taking my wife out and putting her in a place to shoot her first deer. This is her 4th season, she doesn't get to hunt much, and she's worked very hard for that first deer. Thanks for the video!
I used to be the guy who always got my deer and filled other peoples tags as the season went on. That’s legit in Ontario. The last 5 years I haven’t got one but I thank God for every day in His beautiful creation. I’m in my 70 th year and I have the joy of hunting with my grandsons, who both got nice bucks this year. I couldn’t ask for more.
It's tough hunting, here in Maine, especially without snow. I hadn't seen any deer this season, until yesterday. It was one of the most wildly frustrating days I've had in the woods, and awesome at the same time. I was travelling down a trail, on some newly posted land, thinking to myself this will be the place I see the only deer of the day. Well, not 30 seconds later, with some tunes playing and my rifle slung on my shoulder, I walked by a beauty of a buck--6, maybe 8 pointer. His nose was to the ground, and I was, probably, 20 feet past him, when I heard him. Posted land, so I turned around and kept on keeping on, another couple hundred yards to the edge of that property. I sat down, pouted a bit, had a snack, and got back at it. 50 yards later, I noticed a path the deer had beaten down, in the leaves, and went for it. Within the next hundred yards I found a couple scrapes, and a half dozen rubs. I was trying to figure out where the next bit of sign was, and I jumped one. Didn't see it, as he was behind a blow-down, in some Jack firs. So, I backed out, a bit, and waited. 20 minutes later, I see one working toward me. I was thinking it was a doe, until it got 15 yards from me. Now, I hadn't picked a great place to wait. So, I'm in the open having a stare down with a spike horn. His antlers weren't big enough to shoot him. So, we stare at each other, for what feels like an eternity, and I hear another one coming. A little fork-horned buck was making his way, but he cut a different path, and ended up going behind me. I lost him in the firs, and didn't get a shot opportunity. 5 minutes later, I turned around, and this caused the spike to take off. He ran around to his buddy, and they both beat feet out of there. In the span of 40-45 minutes, I had 3 deer withing 40 yards of me, and I couldn't get a shot. That's hunting, in Maine, sometimes. Oh, I jumped up a fourth buck, about a half hour after my encounter with the spike and fork. I didn't know he was there, until he buggered off. Wild, frustrating, exciting day. The most fun I've had hunting, when I didn't get a deer, and there's been a lot of seasons that I didn't tag out. Keep your heads up, stay at it. A day in the woods is better than a day at work, or on the couch.
Thanks Taylor, I needed this. I'm in "that boat" this year. So many hopes and great possibilities, the hard work all summer, seeing many great bucks, expectations running high, and now, nothing! Geez! - Keep on keeping on!! Love you guys. - Jeff
I just got back from hunting the Rangely region of Maine for 5 days. I heard perhaps a total of maybe 6 shots in the distance, the deer weren't moving. Weather was warm and there is still no snow. I have taken deer in that region before. Oh well, I must say that I had a great time with my buddies so it was not a loss. I value my time in the woods just doing it.
I’ve been hunting NH for about 6 years for a big buck and so far have nothing. This year has been amazing because of my new son but the hardest year to hunt at the same time. Thank you for this video and keep up the great work.
Good mid season encouragement. 👍🏻 I thought that squirrel was going sit and join the chat lol. Good luck to everyone who hasn't tagged out yet. It is discouraging to put in a lot of effort, see LOTS of sign, but no deer and everyone tagging out around you lol. But it ain't over till it's over. I keep telling myself that as i look at my Last Minute Buck hanging on the wall lol.
“Especially if you can’t hunt this season and you are bummed.” That was totally me last year. I broke my hand days before I was supposed to leave to go out hunting. I cannot wait for this year!!
Seen a bunch of doe, turkey and great weather. Crossing my finger i see some antlers in the upcoming week, but i've had good time outdoor which is the main reason i went back this year after 20 years without hunting.
I needed to hear this. On the 10th, I missed a big buck. Arrow hit a limb. I saw him on cam the next 3 days. I was excited and i had put in for a week off from work. 3 days in so far and havent seen him yet. Im hoping these next 4 days work out.
Been a couple of years since I bag a good Buck .. seen 13 deer this season ,, couple off small buck .. but deer hunting is not always about the kill ,, it is spending friends and family and enjoying being there with nature ,,
35 years of hunting could probably write a book on "What not to do", but it's part of the adventure. As age creeps up on you, I sometimes think there's going to be a day that I can't do it anymore, thinking that day will come it pushes me on to keep at it. Id rather see my kids get one than myself, at my age Im 50. Like you said it can happen quick. I tracked a buck all day cold, tired, hungry and wet finally to see him bound away to tired to react fast enough with day light ending that's the way it goes sometimes.
Man this is exactly what's been in my head since wensday I finally see my target buck huge wide 8 point put a broadside shot on it felt great followed it up with 2 running shots thought for sure he was piled up found hardly any blood just few drops we grid searched for hours called it a graze 2 days later I found a blood trail 300 yards away the sick feeling I got was crazy I followed the trail buck went into some saw grass bedded and hooked up with does crossed into posted land I get in my head everyday now makes it worse knowing exactly what deer it is 5 year history with him all for me to rush the shot in a game of inches makes you wonder is it ever gonna happen
at 86+ and a caregiver i don't get out only an hour or two if i get a deer or turkey thats a bonus mostly traditional archery, good luck hunting to everyone awesome channel
great reminder of why. of why we all find peace there. of the Patience thats required. especially when we cant get there. of why it's that much sweeter when our friends are. when those who understand are. why its not just the harvest that makes the hunt. but the experience.. thank you boys for what you bring. from the foothills of the Adirondacks to you and yours in the Big woods of Maine... God Bless and stay safe! shoot straight! Wishing you all the best.. and Coco puff a slammah!!! he deserves it on happy attitude alone! GO Git em Boys! Erik
Thanks brother ive hunted 32 straight days im struggling to even see deer this year but lije you said it can change in a second i run game cameras i know whats runnin around but the sunrises are phenomenal eouldnt trade itt for snything
I remember hunting in the mountains of PA and boy it took me so many years it was like I was plagued I just couldn't get one and then finally that one day a bunch of guys came together and they swore they would help me and we got one. And then ever since then my luck change and I started getting them. But it ain't easy
The thing i bet bummed about is the area i live in has CWD and the deer numbers are unbelievably LOW.. and its so frustrating. To get out of this area, cause i live in the middle you have to travel over an hr to get to the outer edge of the CWD area. Its not just feasible to go out after work that far away. we cant hunt Sundays here. So Sat would be the only day. And so far it just has not been worth the hassle to… Thanks for inspiration sir.
It all comes down to putting in the time. Theres going to be good years and bad years. But discouragement leads to spending less time in the woods and more time hitting the snooze button. Those are the days you need get up and get out there. The biggest secret to successful hunting is the amount of field time you put into it. Thats it. The woods will teach you everything you need to know if you're out there enough.
Goin on 10 days solid between muzzy & rifle NH & VT big woods. Nutty year for sure. Testing us all. Sincerely appreciate your message. I’ll find ya next year at HuntStock & check in. You hang tough too & post whatcha got - we’ll all be pumped.
I'm having a bad year myself this year. I've usually got one down by now. Last 4years in a row I tagged out by Nov 11th. Now we're down to 3weeks left. I'm getting nervous I won't get my deer. My family depends on the meat to take the $$ strain away lil bit. I can't strike out my family is dependent on my success.
Pier pressure can make a person miserable but enjoy yourself and relax take a break if you don't feel good or are just frustrated and try a different spot maybe but ya I feel like a kid at Christmas when it does happen
As a working man in Maine with only Saturday to hunt , I just wish I could hunt Sunday . I always see deer and this year I ain't seeing them not even at work I cut wood for a living so I'm in the woods everyday all day seeing rubs and scrapes , my boy has seen two bucks 8 pointers one froze behind trees just his head and chest and they stared at each other for 7 mins and the bastard turned and went right back the way he came in no shot offered I told him he just had to love that interaction and at least he didn't shoot or chase him out next time he'll get him he videoed a doe in the same spot 3 days later he could have had her i said why didn't you he didn't want to shoot her were he might see the buck again we still hunt and all his buddies at school he's 15 all tagged out most first weekend sitting in stands over fields I tell him all the time that's good for them but would bore me to death I always gotta know what's over the next ridge .
Not gonna lie, it's not just this year. It's been 9 yrs and I can't get a break in Maine. Only got so much time and I've hunted from dark to dark. I live in Colorado and things haven't been much better. It's killing me.
Brought to you by Dr.Taylor 👍 but all kidding aside does words are true so I guess you where paying attention when you're dad was talking to you 👍 by the way great job raising great boys Rod and mom your family rocks ❤
Something to keep in mind when deer hunting, although we may not see deer on some days, the deer most likely knew you was there and had to react accordingly… That is how close you was to sealing the deal…
It doesn't matter if you get one really it's more of the experience of getting out there and leaving everything that you have gone through the past year and leaving it there I lost my chances today cause of my injury I was to close to the road in VT and some people were walking and made a bunch of noise hence the deer are gone I wanted to get up set at them but I chose to let it go and remember that I could have gotten him he was there on the edge
Tracked my first buck on bare ground, no snow here in vt yet. Then I missed an easy 75 yrd shot, then I tracked him down again and I missed a 15 yrd shot. Was worried I whacked my open sights out of wack. Nope, just buck fever, cause I hadn't gotten a shot at a deer in 20+ years, hah. Was a big fat 5 point with small horns and small feet. I tracked him for another 45 min to make sure Was a clean miss, came home, checked my sights, bang on, well maybe I'm shaky cause I got lymes disease a couple days ago, Nope hold a 1" group free standing at 50 yrds with an old winchester 30/30, with buckhorn sights, plenty good enough to wack a deer in new england. There's this other good tracker I think he's in new York or Pennsylvania, he says every year it takes him 4 shots to settle him down, then he shoots straight. I think it's cause it's been a lifelong dream to be able to track a deer on bare ground, efficiently enough to catch it. And its still to exciting that I can do that now, when I catch the deer, I'm just dumb struck, I'm so stoked I did that, forget the next part, hah. So hang in there everybody who missed their deer on what was for them a 95%+ odds shot, hah. Its about the chase! Hah.
I don't know what's going on with me. But I missed three times this year and once was a nice eight point buck and I usually don't miss. But I just feel like all the work i am putting in and time. It just seems like nothing ever works. I only ever can get small, deer whenever I do get one
Hang in there! Focus back down on the right attitude, when you’re enjoying the woods and feeling good, you will make better decisions and things will turn around! It’s just a matter of time 👍🦌
OMG Taylor, I went and spent a ton of money to get what I needed together back in the woods. Last deer I got was 24 years ago. Then on Tuesday I had a massive (widow maker) heart attack and I won't be hunting this year. Being from Maine it's tough, been hunting all my life but lost everything when I got divorced. Guns, gear etc. Now I am with an amazing woman and just getting back into it and boom. I have never had any kind of heart issues till now. sorry to drop this on you but it literally sounded like you were talking to me. Thanks
The only reason you can make this video is because you get deer. When you get zero deer season after season bow and gun and hunt public in the northeast you lose all hope. It’s easy to say when you have success every other year but when you truly have zero success you just give it up.

Hunt all day. The more you are in the woods the odds just get higher of seeing something. It's that simple. No quitting early.

I needed to hear this. On the 10th, I missed a big buck. Arrow hit a limb. I saw him on cam the next 3 days. I was excited and i had put in for a week off from work. 3 days in so far and havent seen him yet. Im hoping these next 4 days work out.
Been a couple of years since I bag a good Buck .. seen 13 deer this season ,, couple off small buck .. but deer hunting is not always about the kill ,, it is spending friends and family and enjoying being there with nature ,,
Yep needed this, glad I clicked! Thanks brother!
Great speech. As the years go on the hunting gets harder, we get older, habitat disappears etc etc etc. 😢 keep trying 😊 happy hunting, be safe 👍
My biggest buck took me til I was 30 and came with a heck of a story getting it.
That is unbelievable you always top any other deer video out there. Your dad “aka” the wolf must be dam proud of you. Boots on the ground

Dang son I needed to hear this, its been a tough several years. It used to come much easier.
Anywhere, Anytime, Anyplace! You can go from Zero to Hero in the blink of an eye!
Thank you I needed this today.
Love being in those same Maine woods.
Best message 2024. Thanks man.
Heading to Maine in the morning for a week hunt. Great video. Keep your head up. It’ll happen.
Stay out of our woods!!!
@ didn’t see your name on any of it haha
I love the woods I don't care if I get a deer 😅
I actually needed this 😅 cheers buddy
Very touching video dude
On another note, how awesome is it to have a beard that doubles as a blaze?
🤣🤣🤣
Well done my friend
Not gonna lie, it's not just this year. It's been 9 yrs and I can't get a break in Maine. Only got so much time and I've hunted from dark to dark. I live in Colorado and things haven't been much better. It's killing me.
Brought to you by Dr.Taylor 👍 but all kidding aside does words are true so I guess you where paying attention when you're dad was talking to you 👍 by the way great job raising great boys Rod and mom your family rocks ❤
It's relaxing
thank you i love your videos
thank you
Something to keep in mind when deer hunting, although we may not see deer on some days, the deer most likely knew you was there and had to react accordingly… That is how close you was to sealing the deal…
It only takes a few seconds to change everything!
Hah.
Man! It's not the end of the world if you don't get a deer.
When was the last time Hollywood shot something?😆
Be well, hang in there and good luck!
Needed that!
Good luck dude
The Croziers From Maine TH-cam, Just love you all.
It’s just a matter of time 👍🦌
Now get out there and win one for the Gipper
OMG Taylor, I went and spent a ton of money to get what I needed together back in the woods. Last deer I got was 24 years ago. Then on Tuesday I had a massive (widow maker) heart attack and I won't be hunting this year. Being from Maine it's tough, been hunting all my life but lost everything when I got divorced. Guns, gear etc. Now I am with an amazing woman and just getting back into it and boom. I have never had any kind of heart issues till now. sorry to drop this on you but it literally sounded like you were talking to me. Thanks
So glad things are shaping up for you! Never give up things will turn around if you keep your spirits up 👍🦌
Hang in there buddy and keep your spirits high.
rifle just started today and I already feel that way hahaha.....
i did today my gun wood not fier a big buck i was piss off but i pary to god
It looks to me that you’re clip holds more than 5 shells on your machine gun
Nope only five and it’s a bolt action
@ I know just screwing with you good luck
The truth my son on youth weekend got a 12 pt 196 it happens I got a 10 pt 195 be out in the woods
Hunting 3000 acres or 3 it's the same
Cumebya?
Pep talk for your stomach buddy 🦌 🍖
Your talking too loud. You’re scaring away the deers. Shhhh!
The only reason you can make this video is because you get deer. When you get zero deer season after season bow and gun and hunt public in the northeast you lose all hope. It’s easy to say when you have success every other year but when you truly have zero success you just give it up.
Taylor went without a Buck from 2017 to 2023 he has had his share of hard work with no quick payoff. Everyone has had to work without easy success.
taylor thank you
