It's a really good list. It's noticeable that modern board games are much better at this, with either simultaneous play, or simple turns like just 1 action per turn. From your list, personal favourites because of this are Race for the Galaxy (essentially Puerto Rico in 10 minutes), 7-wonders and 6-Nimmt. You're also right to highlight the drawing and discarding card mechanic in RFTG, it makes the game really shine, I'm not sure why other games don't use this method of cycling much more. At least deck builders do I guess.
A game I considered but it is so special that I'm not sure it would have fit there is Don't Get Got. There's literally no downtime playing the game as you're playing it in the background of other games or activities! It's quite a weird category in itself. Others that would have potentially made the list are team games and coop games as you're all working together to achieve something so it's not like you'd be waiting for your turn forever as everyone is brainstorming at the same time for most games. Trick-taking games are also fast paced because you just play a card for the trick and so do the other players so it's very quick. And lastly, lots of social deduction games as there's usually not really turns per se but it's mostly discussion so you are free to participate to the discussion or listen carefully to spot the traitors. One social deduction game that lasts forever is the original BANG! though.
For info: You can't with the new edition. Cards start only with the 3+ symbol. I suppose that after the first edition was released, they realised it wasn't great and that is when Antoine Bauza and Bruno Cathala made 7 Wonders Duel.
What the hell happens to this bloody Glow box cover at the end? Some... Interesting editing decisions here and there lol And we get it, you like Pope Sloth!
Is it the game where there's a front line and a backline and you quickly draft the cards? If so, I've watched a playthrough by LeStream a long time ago and that looked pretty nice!
Incan Gold is such a good game! I am so biased though, I love push-your-luck games lol Always so fun to taunt the others "You sure you want to keep going? You're gonna die by rocks!!" and then there's another hazard card and everyone is cheering "Ohhhh!! Die by fire! Die by fire!!" or is it just our group? 😛
We own Captain Sonar and have played it once. I don't mind it! My main issue in recommending it was finding a group of 6-8 people that want to play it. Having a person or two not interested ruins the experience IMO. So fun game, but not easy to get to the table.
I considered giving a shoutout to Magic Maze but we both dislike it so that'd be not really sincere lol, just not our kind of games but it's fine if others like it.
This list is great. Decrypto and Telestrations are also really good family games. Linkee as well for a straight up trivia game. From BGA I also really like Number Drop.
I think Wingspan is fine from 1-3 but more than that, you can really see yourself waiting for your turn forever because the interaction is so minimal so you are just waiting for your turn to make just 1 action and then you're back to just staring at your board til your next turn lol. I am actually curious to play the Asia expansion with two bird feeders where 2 "groups" are playing at the same time, it sounds interesting and probably will make the game much faster even with a higher player count.
Great list! Thanks

Great list! Earth has been a big recent hit for me too!
How good is it! For anyone that wants to learn how to play Earth: th-cam.com/video/GnDWbyfbY50/w-d-xo.html
Very clear and concise tutorial!

Note: don't play 7 Wonders at a player count of 2!! Just because you can doesn't mean you should!

11:12 the Pope sloth is strategically placed?
Perhaps!

We really enjoy paper tales

@@Guudys yes this one 😀
My City and Incan Gold!

@@Guudys 😂 that's such a mind game thing, especially if you have friends who easily gives in to your taunts, haha, love a lot of it!
You touched on Dobble, but have you tried real-time games like Captain Sonar and Space Cadets?
Yes I did want to mention it. He didn't want to.
Captain Sonar is great. We have it in our collection.

Both Decrypto and Telestrations have been MVPs in our board game group for the last few months. Two of the few games every person enjoys playing!
How come I don't see Ark Nova on this list? 😂
It’s fun but it does take a while 😉
Games that don't take forever... thumbnail includes wingspan cards... I see what you did there
Good eye! ;)
Funnily enough I've been enjoying Wingspan a lot lately. There's just certain people I won't play it with again!
