I’ve got the RO90 too - I “hate” sanding, but the Rotex makes it kinda fun.. because it’s A LOT quicker than any other sanders out there. The RO90 shines on detail work, windows, doors, furniture and narrow pieces. As mentioned by another one here -try holding it by balancing the rear end where the dust hose attaches with one hand and wrap your other hand around the front in Rotex/orbital mode. With the delta pad it’s easy with one hand. Well and quickly done with the chair!
Brilliant video, I have an old bosch delta sander with finger sanding accessories, it is very good. The festool looks better in delta sanding mode because the orbital action uses the whole pad not just the outside.
Great video - I’ve been loving my RO90. It’s fab for things like doors, windows and furniture. Well worth purchasing the dedicated slat pad - 496803 - it’s just that bit more flexible and great for getting in between the slats. I find the foam pads are great for curved areas as well :)
Picked up one last year; mainly to polish in a wax finish on some cutting boards. Totally forgot about the delta pad! Thanks to this review I need to work this tool a bit harder. It has features I was not up to speed on. Thanks!
I have the RO 90 and it is a great sander for certain jobs such as the chair but not so much for large flat surfaces. I have always found holding it by the handle as a bit awkward and unbalanced and have discovered that holding the top with my left hand with the right hand holding on to the hose connection area is much better. It also permits use of the extraction hose instead of the bag. Hope this helps. Steve
Hi Graham. Great review. I have the 150 which I bought used in an auction. Kind of overwhelming for most projects. Now I see that perhaps l need to sell the 150 and downsize. Thank you for the video. Specially putting it through its paces. Show us the chair after refinishing! Dying to see it.
Mr. Graham it’s a beautiful tool most think Festool is to expensive but once you take the plunge only then will they be astonished a sold on the fact that it’s the little things that they employ! Thanks for sharing Kind Sir!
Thanks for the video. On your recommendation I’ve decided I’m gunna (with gritted teeth) shell out the loot for this nice piece of kit. Thanks again, great work. Keep on keepin’ on…
I have this. I got it for sanding multiple layers of paint off architraves. It takes a bit of getting used to the geared mode, but it is a beast of a sander for that kind of work.
Great review. Love the split screen. Thank you Sir!

Thank Steve. 👍👍
Festool sell an extra stiff backing pad which may help with wide flat surfaces.
