Love your videos! My family came over from Scotland and settled in Pennsylvania. One of them was killed during the Revolutionary War at King's Mountain. His name is on 2 different monuments there. The family had a gristmill in Pennsylvania and the house is a historical site that was saved. A couple of generations down, they left Pennsylvania and went west to Texas and were part of the "Old 300" that helped to settle Texas. Love the history of all these people. Thanks for sharing!

Just hiked this section last weekend and really appreciate you taking the time to go over the history and the individual gravestones. We detoured off the A.T. to check the cemetary out, but wanted to do a deeper dive than we had time to while hiking through.

l too love your videos. County Durham was a huge center for mining, maybe John was "head-hunted!" What l like is the fact that those people buried in the graveyards, wouldn't have had any idea that someone in their home country (England), would be thinking of them many, many years after their death. Please keep the videos coming, many thanks.

You should try using a flashlight to help you see and read some of the old tombstones it works really good, using it from the side of tombstone from top to bottom. I’m new to your channel and enjoy seeing old cemeteries. They each had a life and history that helped our country into being what it is today. ❤️

Very interesting and heart felt Cliff. You mentioned some of these people came over from England hoping for a better life. The irony is they left some parts of England where coal mining was a way of life only to end up in another part of the world -Pennsylvania - where coal mining again was a way of life. Same life different area many miles apart....... Onwards and Upwards my friend.

I saw that cemetary back in 1971 or 2, when I was on a bike trip on the S & S (Boy Scout trip) and there were at least 10-15 tombstones. sad to the lack of respect nowadays...

I was going to suggest doing a rubbing of some of the more worn down stones. But sometimes that can do more harm than good. It's usually done by placing a piece of thinner paper over the stone and then rubbing a crayon or pencil over the paper while it's in contact with the stone. Not sure if it's allowed in a state park though.

Thank You WW! It is a shame what some people do to cemeteries. I wonder what the punishment is for someone getting caught in the act. Perhaps camera should be placed in cemeteries, hidden from view. Perhaps this would eliminate some of this disrespect for our ancestors, for history and generations to come. Would be a wonderful place to rest. I can see your headstone now, Here lies WW, who walked these woods and cared not for clowns. Of course there would be foot prints carved around the edge. A nice fossilized stone would be nice as well simply stating, WW. Thanks Kindly and I do hope your wish comes true one day. In the meantime there are many happy hiking trails to explore. DaveyJO

To bad nobody or state put up trail cams to catch the rotten buggers doing this to these resting places. Whats up with PARENTS anymore??? Kids have NO respect at all!!! Our future looks bleek with the 'NEW' generation folks
