Do you know if the confederates never declared independence from Union the Southern Identity would have been wiped from history as a extinct identity and the last hold out of southern culture would be in Texas due to it having its own culture derived off of the southern culture.
So, the CSA was important to the survival of the southern identity and due to the civil war the southern identity thrived through religion and nationalistic pride. So if the Southern identity did not exist so would have the southern states.
That’s why Southerners called it the war of Northern Aggression because it Northerners were taking over almost every aspect of the USA and encroaching on to Southern liberty like when John Brown tried to start a violent slave revolt knowing it would cripple and massacre the south. The Civil War was out of the necessity and will of the Southern culture.(No Hate)(It just seems like CSA instigated the war when it was North)(Good vid though)
