Yeah, there WAS going to be a season 3, but the network cancelled it because of low ratings and competing with Power Rangers.

It was canceled because the new network had, Bloomberg hated Saturday morning cartoons and wanted to kill them, so he canceled this show, reboot, bump in the night, and a few others and filled their slots either with shows he knew were not popular like looney tunes and live action shows while trimming and good off each end of the block, from there he eventually trimmed it to nothing but an excuse to get rid of it all together.
I hear it was the Power Rangers' fault, but I'd have to check my sources.

I think "Trouble in Tokyo" is the official ending of Teen Titans and "Sonic Christmas Blast" is the official ending of Adventures of Sonic the the Hedgehog. Not saying those are any better than the endings listed here.

I actually really like the ending of Teen Titains. The ending isn't satisfying, but I appreciate the idea of them continuing to grow and adapt even after the show ends. It feels like the cliffhanger wasn't meant to be resolved. Legends never die.
Sandwich I think it sucks personally.
A lot of it worked really well and left us wanting more. It was also ripe with symbolism and foreshadowing. If it had been concluded, I think the episode would be highly praised.

Sandwich I think it'll be resolved eventually, with Teen Titans airing on Cartoon Network, and several cartoons with cliffhangers have been resolved recently, the most notable being Samurai Jack and Hey Arnold!

I personally love the ending to Teen Titans. It's unexpectedly and shockingly real for a kids' superhero cartoon. Things change, and it's not always the change you wanted, but life has to go on. It's a powerful lesson masterfully put across and it's kind of sad that the show's fanbase failed to absorb it.

I didn't even realize in Flapjack that really was The end, consider the fact they had some of the weirdest the ends. Some good, ridiculous, and just went wrong; Especially in such a show that's both Mind-fucked and perfect for Creepy pasta writers (hell, I heard in theories they made one based on the show known as candle cove)

If it was, thank goodness, the settings in those two games were way better. I never saw that episode, but man, that was...uncomfortable to see, I admit. And I happen to enjoy the cartoon, since it reminds me of my childhood. D:
Never grew up with AOSTH since it wasn't on when I was younger. Watching a few episodes on my own time, it's not my cup of tea, but to each their own. I'll stick to Sonic X and Sonic Boom.
I wish we could get another cartoon that was darker like X or SatAm.

I know this isn't on the list, but I was sad to see that the mom from Sonic Underground was never found/ saved even though throughout the series and even the theme song kept reinforcing how vital and important that goal was.

The thing is, teen titans wasn't supposed to end. A sixth season had been planned to unwrap the mysteries involving Terra's return and change in lifestyle. However, the sad simple reason it was canned was because the show's target audience did not match the real audience. The kind of people, the demographic, that the show had been originally fixed on, had not been nearly easily as met as a different demographic the had not been aiming for. Unfortunately, this did not fit the criteria, and the show was cancelled

It's also said there were never plans for a Season 6 (sources vary). If there ever is a 6th Season, I hope Starfire gets her arc. She's the only original Titan without a Season Arc.

Turns out the camp counselor wasn't a counselor after all. He gets sent to a mental hospital for impersonating a counselor.
It's like "The Principal and the Pauper" from The Simpsons, and it's the finale of the show.

"Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" was the last thing those animators and producers made before TTG began, so canonically *that* was a good enough way to end the original series.

FANBOYING AHEAD. AND SPOILERS.
They FINALLY become a couple. I really enjoy the moments you see with Robin and Starfire when they explore Tokyo, and that scene when Robin was shocked and upset when Starfire used her inherent ability to learn Japanese. And since I love Starfire, I found it heartbreaking seeing her with her feelings hurt. But it all works out in the end.
Watching the kiss scene always gets me... emotional. No other kiss scene in a show has ever managed to break me. Only Starfire and Robin's kiss managed to get me so happy that I tear up (I guess that shows I'm human). The setting, what led up to it, Robin admitting, Starfire getting the message, the kiss, it's just amazing imo. I lost count on how many times I rewatched it. Another tender moment between the 2 is Teen Titans Go! Issue #47 if you're curious.
In case it wasn't already obvious, I'm glad they brought closure to their relationship.

You can thank the network for the very abrupt ending of the Sonic The Hedgehog saturday morning cartoon. It was cancelled in favor for Mighty Morphin' Power-Rangers. Why they couldn't just air both, I don't know.

Seeing how poorly some cartoon endings are handled, I'm worried for the Adventure Time ending. Regular Show's finale was great (even got my fav Bowie song) and it put a good end to a show I watched from beginning to end. However, THERE WAS NO HYPE! NO MARATHON OF EPISODES LEADING UP TO IT. Most of my friends didn't even know it was ending. It just... Ended with no fireworks (if you get what I mean).
With regards to AT, I'm seeing the same pattern. No build up. No hype. No nostalgia fueling marathons or anything. *sigh. My childhood is dying all around me.
Now I feel sad, because I have the same feeling.

It's called a Double Boost.
It's a move where Sonic combines his power with a friend for them both to run at blinding speeds and destroy literally everything before them. The Deep Power Stones also helped with this, since Sally doesn't really have any powers.
We also see a glimpse of it in the Sonic Heroes intro cinematic where Sonic helps Tails and Knuckles speed up (which would technically be a Triple Boost?).
We then see a similar technique used by Team Dark in Sonic 2006.
This attack would later re-appear with an official name given to it in Sonic Forces.

Okay Pro tips if you're going to make a cartoon series and got the season finale... don't leave it on a cliffhanger it's almost never guaranteed to give you another season
Only works in the movies (and maybe games). That being said, it is okay to leave mysteries unsolved, just not cliffhangers.
The funniest example of this is how every justice league season tied all loose ends every season, yet the only one they ended on a cliffhanger was the last one.
That's all well and good unless you don't know that the season will be the last until you already have almost the entire series boarded and done. Sonic SATAM ended the way it did because the producers didn't know it was going to be the last season. This is what ends up happening to most series that end on cliffhangers.
The cliffhanger is designed to get you interested in watching the new episodes next season. Sometimes there isn't a next season.
it always strikes me as a desperate gamble and a low blow, their counting on the fans being _so desperate_ to see an actual ending for the series that the producers cave and give them at least a couple more episodes. 9/10 times they dont and then you leave the fans with a sour taste in their mouths, and swollen, blue balls.
One thing that is a good note: it seems like more animated shows actually *do* an ending. It wasnt so long ago that most shows would just sort of peter out and not even have an ending. The series would just end on a random filler episode.
To be fair that DBZ ending isn't the cartoon's fault, it's the manga's. Akira Toriyama himself wrote that

The thing that probably confused me the most in the ending of DBZ is the seven year timeskip. It doesn't appear in its sequel, super. Everyone seemed to be the same age before the last episode of Z.
However, I do agree with the disappointment with Uub as well, but I love how someone pure like Goku owned him.

For what it's worth on Sonic Adventure, that one was flat-out "We've just been doing a terrible string of filler episodes, and now we're out of ideas, so pack it up and go home." That's terrible planning from a long way off, not the unexpected turn that most of these are. Not sure whether that should make it a top contender, honorable mention, or disqualified from the list . . .
Keshia Anders The ending of Death Note was terrible for me, I wanted Light to win at the end. As for the TMNT ending, the many episodes of the last season were said to be "What if" stories. Many as well as Nick are not treating the apocalyptic as canon. Though for me, I still liked it.

I personally didn’t care for the TMNT 2012 ending episode. It wasn’t the ending I was hoping for from such a great show!
The only way Teen Titans will ever get a proper Ending is if by some miracle, Cartoon Network puts it on Adult Swim or a fan made version.
I wouldn't mind Adult Swim as long as it doesn't get alienated from the rest of the series due to the opportunity to add mature themes. I wouldn't mind some blood and mild language. People have already died in the series before so they'd actually wouldn't have to censor them (like not showing Slade falling into the pit of lava in Aftershock pt 2). As long as it doesn't go beyond that, I'd be happy to see it on Adult Swim. As long as we see a continuation or a sequel.

I tried to like it. I can't. If I want dumb humor, I can watch Scary Movie. The only good thing I see in TTG, is it's not canon to Teen Titans.
Actually they didn't destroy Robotropolis, just the doomsday device. There was also supposed to be a third season but Michael Bloomberg canceled it for no other reason than he hated Saturday morning cartoons and wanted them off his network. Another of his victims made your list, Reboot.
It was canceled due to the success of Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. I guess ABC thought that was the wave of the future, and action cartoons were a dying breed.... So it got canceled.

I'm aware this isn't a cartoon, but the finale to Alf was terrible. Because in the beginning the government says they would physically torture Alf if they saw him again. Anyways, in the last episode Alf's parents from his old planet want him to come home. Alf and all of his human family drive to the middle of nowhere and right before he can float away into space or get beamed up by aliens his human family drives away and the government comes. Alf looks around at them. Series over. Not exactly. You see they make a movie about 6 years later so Alf is not diced into pieces. But it was the last episode so I typed it down.
The first sonic finale episode sounds like a JJBA episode with how fucking insane it gets, Araki probably wrote the episode

One bad series finale I think gets overlooked is the one to "Dexter's Laboratory." I know most people hate the seasons that came after the second one mainly due to the art style being more simplified, and the humor not being as clever, and while I do agree that they weren't as great as the first two seasons, I still personally found myself enjoying some of the episodes. The final episode, "Comedy of Feathers" however was one I felt was a rather disturbing one to go out on. In it, Dexter has to take Dee Dee to the zoo and she sees this ostrich which she thinks it's in bad condition and needs help (not knowing it's supposed to look the way it does) so she keeps trying to take it home with her but it doesn't want to go leading to some slapstick which Dexter has a fun time watching. This idea is pretty funny, but then it just randomly ends with Dee Dee and the ostrich getting morphed together and switching places leading to the episode ending with Dexter bringing home this Dee Dee ostrich hybrid. Yeah, mutating one of the main characters is a great way to end a final episode...
Oh dear, I remember that awful finale...
Yeah, I mean if it was a regular episode, I'd be more accepting of it since there have been other episodes that ended with the characters taking other forms like Dexter and Dee Dee turning into monsters, Dee Dee turning into a pony, Dexter turning into a chicken, etc. and there was even one episode that ended with the Earth being blown up but everything was back to normal in the next episode to show that these things weren't permanent. This was the series finale so it was a bad episode to end off with something like that.
How ironic, the same creator that made THAT bad ending went on 13 years later to make ANOTHER bad ending!! I think we can all agree this guy is a fantastic animator and writer...BUT HE;'S LOUSY AT WRITING ENDINGS!

I had no idea the last Teen Titans episode was even the finale. But I remember wanting closure and wasn't pleased that there was any with that episode. The fact it was the finale explains everything.
The Series Finale is Trouble in Tokyo. Things Change is the last episode of the series. Trouble in Tokyo brought closure to Starfire and Robin's relationship.

1) They kept all the voice actors on payroll
2) They clearly have resources to tie up the loose ends with ALL the DCA movies. For the price of one less Batman toy robot dinosaur film or a Superman "look at Supergirl's miniskirt" movie we could have EASILY and MARKETABLY made a Teen Titans epitaph.
3) My god does Warners bros know we want this as they devoted probably over 40 minutes of shorts expressly making fun of this fan outrage in what? 6 years? How long have we been screaming about this?

At the end of the Trigon story arc, when Trigon turns the world's population to stone, and Raven heals them, she inadvertently heals Terra, too. Since she's been stuck in stone far longer than anyone else, she suffers amnesia from it.
That would be a great plot point for season 6.

Personally I don’t blame dragon ball or Toriyama for the ending it had. It was clear that Toriyama was heavily exhausted from writing dragon ball after 10 years (and spending days without sleeping to write the story). Dragon ball wasn’t even supposed to go on for nearly as long as it did. You can see his exhaustion throughout the entire buu saga with the story making sudden turns in almost every chapter. He even stated himself that he doesn’t really care much about writing it anymore.

Personally, I love Sonic SATAM's finale. What annoys me is that it IS the ending. I desperately wanted to see more. Also, I always thought that those eyes belonged to Metal Sonic. Which would have made sense, since Robotnik's machine in the episode is somewhat similar to the one he used in the two-part OVA that was used to promote Sonic CD, which leads to Metal Sonic's creation.
