- In recent weeks it has become clear that as brilliant as Casemiro is, our over reliance on him in midfield and how disjointed we look going forward and defensively when he's not firing on all cylinders has highlighted we desperately need an understudy. We can't rely on a 31 year old Casemiro to play week in and week out and he isn't getting any younger, with it appearing that the vigors of a premier league season does take it's toll especially when you're the only defensive midfield profile in the team. It's essential that United already start looking for an alternative and understudy and one player capable of just that is Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon.

Those two red cards really changed Casemiro a lot, he looks like a very different person after getting red cards.
The suspect EPL referees have impacted on him negatively.

Could be that he is being over cautious as a result of the two Red Cards that he picked up and wants to avoid picking up another one.

Our form has dipped since losing martinez not just defensively but his line splitting passes
For fight mentality and unity we need Martinez ! I believe he should be the captain ! He has in abundance what this team of lazy losers lack ! He sets the bar for the requirements for the right to play for United ! By far our most important player ! Rashford is great but will always be inconsistent ! If we could get a good price for him now we should jump on it ! Buy two quality players it's better than having a player that sometimes shows great ability and other times walks around looking like he lost his glasses ! He is undependaple and we should not give him that big contract or he w I'll get worse ! I know he is one of ours and I love him too ! But I love the club more we need a squad and a squad of players that consistently give you 100% ! Rashford unfortunately is not that player ! He needs to be in a team that has a quality squad so when on the days he does not feel like playing you have somebody on the bench that can come on and enthusiactly do it we don't have that luxury ! For the club and teams sake and for responsible business he should be sold !
Great prospect and perfect back-up for Casemiro. He could even partner Casemiro in big away games where we need extra defensive cover. If he's available for

In weeks gone by most people suggested that the answer to our midfield struggles would be De Jong, Bellingham, Caicedo or Rice. All top class players but all either unavailable or too pricey given we’ve other areas of the squad that should be prioritised. If I was to fix up the midfield on a budget it probably would be Ugarte & Le Fee. Both could be bought for c. £70m and you could recoup around £50m from the sales of McFred & De Beek. It then leaves a midfield of Case Eriksen & Bruno with those two to fill in. Both players who I think have far more potential than the current subs.

Is there not at least a partial argument where the majority of the starting transfer budget should go into either 1 star (100 mil +) or two very good players (50 mil + per) in the mid with whats left over plus sales going into a backup striker a backup CB and a GK. In this scenario Rashford would be the starting CF with Garnacho starting at LW Sancho would backup Fernandes as a CAM Anthony is the starting RW with Amad and Pellistri as the primary backups. This would be going very young but it kind of makes sense to go young up top considering that the midfield is old even if Casemiro is paired with a much younger player, in the two player scenario you get someone to pair with Erikson off the bench as well. My worry with your plan or mine is whether you can even get 50 Million for McFred and Van de Beek but I would be selling Maguire as well hence the backup CB want.
Any chance of a scout report on Yehvann Diouf from Reims to replace De Gea? Only young and stats look unreal.

So I'll assume he's off to somewhere other than United sadly as the Glazers fuck about hanging onto the club this summer and leave Ten Hag criminally under-prepared. Snakes.
Wow imo out of all the midfielders scouted so far he is by far the most suited to us and what we need and lack. Understudy to casemiro..easily slots in besides casemiro as well i think. Importantly he of the right age and style. We need someone of his skillset + legs and energy. SIGN HIM UP ERIK!
Great report, he could fulfil a real need for us. Ideally we'd get someone like Enzo Le Fee as well then that's midfield sorted.

He's my number one choice to back up Casemiro. Most midfielders are capable of playing the single pivot when they're 25 and older but he can already sit there at 21. Usually that's a sign of tactical maturity beyond his years.
Just gone and watched his clips. Immediately on board. Not seeing any other available DM as dynamic on the ball. He's agile and techy.
I know it wasn't a very popular proposition first time round but I'd love Adrien Rabiot to come in for rotation in the centre. I think Case, Eriksen, Fernández, Sabitzer & Rabiot is a lethal combination of players who can cover more than one role in the centre.

I know it would be effected by transfer budget, but i would like to see us go for Rice. I think he could easily play alongside Casemiro and travel forward with the ball. He could also give Casemiro games off when he is tired which he really looks like he has been recently.
His price is a big NO especially considering our financial state in relation to FFP regulations

Totally. Got to give youth a chance. I have complete faith in ETH. He knows what he’s doing in general. He’s got priors at Ajax. Giggs was trusted at 17. Lee Sharpe around 18-19. Get Diallo back, Mainoo in & many more. They can’t do worse than that shower that keep letting us down.

Any chance of a scout report on Micky Van De Ven at Wolfsburg? Young defender, Dutch so he ticks one of the Ten Hag recruitment boxes. Seems like he is similar to Schlotterbeck in terms of being physical and playing progressive balls with his left foot. I rarely catch any Bundesliga games though so if you've got some data that'd be great.
Impressed since I saw him against Arsenal. Amazing player. I think him and Sabitzer are just the mids that we need so we can concentrate on getting a center forward, a central defender and a keeper.
Been watching this kid play for a while...he's really really good. He played for Fénix back in the old country and this guy can ball. Tremendous engine, plays simple but progressive and has balls the size of melons. Would love to see him at United.
I always find ste's scout reports proper interesting, I just hope united watch this sort of content it's a darn sight better than their own scouting network which is about as much use a chopstick in a bowl of soup

Mainoo isnt defensively oriented though, he's very much in the yaya Toure mould.

If you could get rice for 40 mil I’d say sign him. Sangare is also a player I love.
I have been following Ugarte for a while he does look to be a great option. Personally I would love Caicedo but he would ost a fortune, I feel we really missed an oportunity with him

We definitely need this style of player, but I think Ugarte is high on Liverpool's list and if they pip us to 4th, then we might have to settle for someone less desirable!
Ste, could you look at Gift Orban, a striker at Gent. While I dont think he'll come and light up the league, he's wiling to shoot from anywhere and could grow into an exceptional player if he keeps scoring how he is.
Obviously hes nothing close to world class, but could be a cheap striking option(if nothing else but depth) if the cub decides to prioritize get a good CB and CM in the summer.
As a Newcastle fan we have been linked with Ugarte for months and he fits us perfectly. Ugarte and Szaborzelai would be my absolute dream signings that takes us up a few levels.
I know Liverpool are also interested but haven't seen any man u interest. He will cost around 50m.
Ugarte let's us move Bruno Guimaraes into roaming playmaker the role he is better suited for.

I would 100% us spend big on the striker dept and look at some up and coming talent like this for other spaces, it's still evident that we need quality depth and competition throughout the squad. It's all well and good firing £100+ for Kane, £70m for Casemiro, whilst they will 100% be/are huge upgrades for us, there's no point going through this same cycle every few years with recruitment.

people keep harping on about Case and the reds he’s picked up affecting his form but that’s null n void, he’s still throwing himself into tackles and committing fouls but it’s his in-possession play that’s greatly dropped off, man’s played a crazy amount of wayward passes lately

outside of a striker and defender this position is one I thought we sorely needed. Casemiro has been immense but recent drop off is shocking. Not to mention he is already 31 so give him 2 years with us at max he will falter off quite a bit. More importantly this is a position we seem to sorely lack in our academy. Doesn’t seem like we have any who can be groomed to this position, while all the big teams have at least one such player in their team whose at a good age and able to contribute for the long term. Sort this out our attackers can then go ahead and attack without worry.
We need a number 8 someone who can help us control the game carry the ball forward.

So yes we need someone of their ilk to be the long term solution.
I disagree with people saying the red cards affected him, they probably have but not drastically, he's still flying into tackles. I think he's just exhausted, he barely gets a rest and played in the World Cup.
Video hits on many of the positives of Ugarte but missing one big point. He's already an upgrade over Casemiro, he's no understudy or reserve. Let him play if you intend to buy him from SCP

There’s about three player of theirs we could reasonably take this summer Inacio, Ugarte and St Juste. All of them good ability, choosing one I would be inclined to go for St Juste, might you consider doing a scout report for him as cb Ste?

Course you would. Himself or Disasi from Monaco are definitely worth a scout report. Ideal world we get Ramos, Disasi, Le Fee, St Juste and maybe someone llike Marcus Thuram on a free. I would take a punt on Johnson at Forest, for the simple fact he’s got pace and can score

With money from sales and change of ownership it might be more possible. The reality is it’s what is needed. Harry Maguire, Weghorst, Fred, McTominay, Sancho, Antony, Martial, De Gea, all not good enough and need to be offloaded
@@RyanReynolds808 If we go above 100-150m we go above FFP. Glazers usually allow that so the ownership doesn't really feel like a big factor in my book. With Uniteds trackrecord I have a hard time seeing us selling for 150-200m. Maybe 80m if Newcastle really want McT for 40. The others are either unsellable or going for scraps around 5-10m.

Getting in ugarte and gravenberch would definitely improve our away form as they are both physical yet good ball proggersors. Also they would be done easily for 80 million and then bringing in a striker, centre back and right back becomes much easier

I saw Casimiro pull out of a tackle, I think the red cards are making him second guess going in to tackles, he’s been suspended so many games after barley being sent off his entire career.

Manuel Ugarte is a beast! He is already better than Declan Rice and will continue to develop and will become one of the best DMC in the world. He is the arctype of a player that Man United should go and get right now!

I think Casa drop in form could well be due to him not trusting referee decisions. Considering the number of red cards in quick succession since coming to the EPL in think he’s taken his foot of the gas knowing the team needs him on the pitch
Well spotted as usual Ste. Casemiros got a couple years before he declines dramatically so we need to get a young understudy right now who can share the CDM burden and prolong Casemiros career. Liverpool are also tracking him, he could very well move there because of Darwin Nunez, plus our takeover isn’t complete so we will be moving slow in the market again and end up with the scraps and overpaying for players.

Ugarte is a very good player. If he does leave Sporting Lisbon this summer or next he will be a brilliant signing wherever he goes.

Scout report on Montpellier Striker Elye Wahi. Better than Jonathan David, 20 years old 17 league goals this season, 10 last season so there is progression. High ceiling. Lightning quick and great in front of goal. check him out. He gives me Javier Chicharito vibes. would be about £30-40m with United tax.

Not really a slump from Casemiro imo. He was good against Villa and everyone was shit against Brighton and West Ham. Only goals we conceeded were individual mistakes that weren't his doing. We do need an understudy though for squad development
