    Breaking tasks down is really important for productivity. It can reduce executive dysfunction and procrastination. I always like to remind myself of the Desmond Tutu quote “there is only one way to eat an elephant: one bite at a time.” Not great for a vegan channel but the point is, breaking things down into easy steps makes mammoth tasks manageable.

    Maddy, you are beautiful; you look beautiful with or without make up. Besides ..videos like this are needed; we need to start destigmatizing clean faces...I also don't feel comfortable in a clean face, and I absolutely love seeing people who do (you) because you give me confidence, so thank you 😊 💜 and thank you for sharing with us . I love how your living room is looking so far. I can not wait to see the end result! 💜

    The fact that you're managing vlogmas and a renovation astounds me! You look amazing as you are Maddie, thanks for that pep talk about the gym, with Christmas kicking off in Melbourne Australia after the longest lockdown ever, I've basically forgotten to exercise cause work has been so hectic, I'm so ready to get back into gym sessions thanks for the motivation! I love the colours of the living room, beautiful style to match the cottage feel cant wait to see the finished look!

    I think the height of the wall lights is good. It seems to fit with the age of the house when they used to light oil or gas lights. The colour of the shelves will work nicely with the botanical design in your curtain fabric.

Also you are spreading so much JOY this holiday season! Thanks for the pep talk! I am going to go accomplish a lot today!

    I do it with housework. I think to myself I'll do the upstairs and kitchen and then it takes me so long to do one room I don't get round to the others and then I feel like I've been unproductive. Now I try to break it down (mentally, I don't write to do lists). So instead of saying I'll do the kitchen I think I'll load the dishwasher, then I'll fold the teatowels and then I'll wipe the fridge down. Then I treat myself to a break and a brew

    I always wondered how people paint so quickly too! Then I bought my house and the prep and clean up was more work than actually painting. Also my walls are slightly textured, not flat so it is easier to hide imperfections (no sanding). Plus we use eggshell finish which is more even than flat paint ( I hate flat matte) btw you have really pretty natural features so I forget you aren’t wearing makeup lol💖

    Loving the more raw day-to-day life vibes of vlogmas!!
    Also, for your lamps you could always hang them upside down. Then use the lightbulb to hold the shade on (shade right side up). I think because they are pretty symmetrical fixtures it could work!

    Too funny! My Willow chewed my mouth guard for my teeth too a few weeks ago! Going back to one of your other videos, I loved seeing how you bleached your kitchen beams. We have very large and some very dark stained beams in our old home. I feel it might be daunting to sand, bleach, and stain like you did. I washed them down once with a cleaner and they did drip a lot of color, but I've been thinking of color washing them, somewhat like the stain you used, to see if I can lighten some of them or I might do a faux painting technique. I love seeing someone else tackling a lot of their own DIY projects. I got off my butt and tackled a project that was looming after watching your kitchen video. Our kitchen design is in the works and I loved seeing what you did. I subscribed last night and will be binge watching and listening as I paint and wallpaper our 1790 home Hugs from in New England.

    I recently added very similar sconces to my dining room and according to Google the recommended placement for sconces is 60 inches. I obviously don't know that height that you have your wiring, but I think yours might be a bit high. Side note, I love your aesthetic and am actually in the process of changing my decor to go with an English cottage vibe, so I'm really loving the inspiration!

I finally picked this one at random and it's so fun!!! I love this simple style video. Ah I think your home is looking so gorgeous! The paintings you decorated with are PERFECT!!! & so glad someone else is just realizing the benefit of breaking things into steps; I've got to actually figure out how long things take me too so I won't keep giving myself too much to do each day. Anyway what a fun and festive vid, thank you for sharing xxxxx and thanks for the reminder to check FB marketplace for paintings, which I'm going to do right now despite not having a single spare bit of wall in my room!

    Putting in a new set of aligners hurts but it is nothing compared to the pain of having your braces tightened by the dentist. :'o I've had both experiences and I would choose aligners every time.

  • @erineccentric5810
    @erineccentric5810 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I just started my Invisalign a month ago. The pain does get way better over time. Now I just feel slight pressure when I change to my next set and can eat solid foods again. I was on soft food for about 2 weeks. I hate the branded case they give you. It feels like a puzzle to get the aligners to fit. I bought a new one off amazon that works way better. I also recommend a pul tool if they didn't give you one. Feels way more sanitary to use that in public vs my hands. Your house is coming together so nice!!

    The lamps are beautiful but I would put it somewhere else if it has to be that high up, because as you said, it's not as pretty if you see up into it. It would've looked good in the bookshelves if it weren't for the actual shelves you're putting in lol. Or on the walls next to the bookshelves :) you'll figure it out!!

    I'd shift the sconces elsewhere and use a different lamp at that height, because it would bug me forever. But the person who has to live with it and love it is you, and you know best what it actually looks and feels like in the room, so if you're fine with it then that's all that matters.

    Loving getting so many videos from you over vlogmas! I liked your decor in the previous house so much more though. You mention wanting to go for timeless pieces of decor, but this farmhouse chic already feels dated in 2021. I recommend Caitlin Shoemaker's house tour. She has a different style of building of course, but I think she's done an outstanding job at tying in contemporary pieces with more traditional ones. Best of luck with the rest of the paint job!

    • @jadeartfx
      @jadeartfx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think Maddie doesn’t want to get sucked in with what’s trendy now. I have been in the design field, I think people should live with what brings them in their comfort zone, and they shouldn’t choose pieces because it is in style now, or worry if it is dated, nothing is dated if it fits the style and era of the house. From years of experience I know people like creating their own style and that’s what makes everyone unique in their own way. I think Maddie is doing a lovely job with her home, I especially am envious of her beautiful comfortable homey kitchen.

    • @justinez6857
      @justinez6857 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jadeartfx It's true that one should make their home look and feel as they see fit. She did have quite a different, more elevated style not so long ago, and I merely want to point out that as with everyone, our taste changes. And maybe it is not worth overcommitting to creating a granny's cottage so full on and make it a bit more interesting, or less cream / magnolia yellow. Better for the wallet and for Maddie in 2 years time, I can guarantee. But then we get reno content when they change everything again, so we win either way :)

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It’s interesting how everyone’s tastes are very different because I actually think the decor in my previous home was me learning my way with interiors and when I look back, a little boring. There was very little colour, but also it was a small cottage with very low ceilings so required a different style of decorating. This house I would hate to look “farmhouse chic” because that really isn’t my style at all. Instead I just want it to look timeless and lived in. Like it has always been this way. Caitlin’s house looks absolutely stunning! But as you say, a totally different home and totally different style of interior design. Maybe people will think my end result is old fashioned because I’m just not keen on contemporary interiors, but I’m living here haha so I guess it doesn’t matter much!
