  • The Microsoft Xbox 360 digital storefront is closing down in July which means there's suddenly an interest in the physical games for the system. In this video I followed the price trends for over 1500 listings on pricecharting.com to see if the prices would go up, down or stay the same.
    I compiled a list of the top 25 Xbox 360 Games that increased the most, decreased the most and the overall market conditions for the system.

    Nice job on this video . I feel like there was the right amount of information here to keep me hooked, but you didn’t overstay you’re welcome. I kind of figured there would be a bunch of games where the prices don’t increase on Xbox 360 just because so many of them are multi plats.

    • @thiefamongu3857
      @thiefamongu3857 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think so. These prices rely heavily on nostalgia which equals demand. The wii u and 3ds are not nostalgic yet, so that's why a lot of prices calmed down, but even then good luck finding most of that library for as cheap as it was before the store closing down. With xbox 360, the store is closing plus nostalgia is coming in all at the same time, so the 360 library will be all over the place like ps2. Some games will calm down, some won't. Highly doubt games like marvel ultimate alliance gold or 50 cent blood on the sand will ever be below 100 dollars ever again

    Whew! I’m glad I got pretty much everything I wanted well over 5 years ago, and most of that from scouring all my local GameStops within a 2 county area, so pricing wasn’t bad, especially when they had used game offers and my member discount while they had that. Sure there are a few I’d like to get, but like everything, prices always fluctuate, so if I see an opportunity down the road, I’ll get it.

    here is the big problem with price charting. The only thing it can properly track is the price for new copies and even then, there are seller capable to list as "new" something that was already opened or was not opened but is damaged.
    As for the used copies, unless we literally talk about disc + artwork (some titles close to the end of 360 were released like that), then price charting will take anything that has that magical CIB wording on the top.
    And we all know that it is not always the case. (sellers are capable to list something as complete, even if something is missing.
    Add to the mix also the condition of the item and pricing will actually show seemingly lower price than what is the actual price in majority of new listings.
    As for collector editions, this is even way more prevalent. It could be complete but with heavy damaged items or it could be listed as complete with something missing (for example the game itself). If you add to the mix that some maybe sell only 3-5 per year, that condition of the item can heavily influence the price optics.
    For example AC Brotherhood Platinum edition. When you check actual history of CIB game (at least identified as such), You will hit some listings with stock images and also a listing where it is further down stated that manual is not guaranteed. Yet they were taken into CIB pricing calculations and this have lowered real market price of a CIB version of the game.
    Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII - that one is even a bigger lol - first sold listing is not complete (collector watch is missing), next 2 listings are just for the steelbook, so no wonder they are cheap. There is only 1 listing sold in 2024 as CIB with the collector watch. So if those incomplete and should not be there listings are calculated, then no wonder that the price would seemingly drop, even if no such thing has happened.
    So yes I do get it, you took statistics from price charting, and while they are relatively decent for frequently sold products, it will struggle with CIB versions as well as with rarely sold items. That is why sadly those last 2 tables (biggest drop by $ and %), may be heavily compromised and thus not showing the real market situation.

    Some of those games that increased 200% or more were being hawked and advertised on a variety of TH-cam “collector” channels earlier this year, and they are terrible games such as Fatal Inertia and Fist of the North Star Ken’s Rage 2. Absolutely not worth even owning let alone for over $100 in my opinion. There’s just too many people *suffering* from FOMO. But, if you want a complete set, you gotta get them all I suppose.

    • @johnwilkesbidoof2207
      @johnwilkesbidoof2207 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Definitely
      Everyone who actually cared about the 360 bought these games years ago, it’s just a missive FOMO thing cause of resellers and TH-camrs hyping these games up.
      Most of them suck anyways like Fatal Inertia, Fist of The North Star Kens Rage 2, and Bullet Witch
      The 3ds had the same issue and now most of the games are dropping in value heavily because everyone moved on to the 360

    • @Patrick-tw7nr
      @Patrick-tw7nr 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I believe some games will go down from their current prices while some will go up even more. It really depends on supply demand of the games being sought after etc.
      What will not happen is games that you were able to buy for 10-20 dollars a couple of years ago like say Bullet Witch, Culdcept Saga and Operation Darkness won’t ever go back down to that price ever.

    • @thiefamongu3857
      @thiefamongu3857 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @johnwilkesbidoof2207 it's not as black and white as that. 3ds still isn't nostalgic yet, but 360 is plus store closing down at the same time. Some games will go back down, a lot will not. Look at the ps2 library, you still can't get a lot of games for a fair price. It's all over the place. It depends on which games you're talking about instead of the whole library

For example i just bought splatterhouse (ps3) for 80 dollars and i know it is only going to go higher as it is that rare, so if you really have anything you want that is already hard to find and expensive get it while you still can as it will only be more expensive donw the road/
