Helpful chunks for this beautiful song! Really pretty sounds! I'm attempting to play this in my mind. The chords without the melody are just lovely.Thank you very much Dan.

Thank you, Dan for dissecting chord progression in detail. I like few fancy chords mentioned for example Eb7 (9-minor triad) which spelled as Eb-G-Bb-Db-F-Ab-C. It sounds sophisticated. Much appreciated. Looking forward the Part 3. 👍

    The Part (Section A) with the Abmin6 - Db7- Ebmaj7 can also be described as a Backdoor 251 I think. So its ivmin6 - bVII7 - Imaj7
I love the sound of it but can’t really explain why the bVII7 (so the Db7 in this case) works, as it’s a non-diatonic chord and also not part of a 2-5 of a diatonic chord.

It's nice to drift out of the master key 'in theory' studies but to keep yourself rooted, it's nice to just saw it went up a 4th (since it's so common) then another 4th! And as I always say, master the cycle of fourths since almost every chord progression follows it. As you perhaps know, a 36251 is a cycle of fourths if you remove the key they are the 36251 in...
That said, yes, this backdoor philosophy is one way to say it. What happens is something called modal interchange, in this case from the parallel minor (Ebm). The Db7 works since you're not hearing it in Eb major, your ears have been tricked into a 2 5 onto Gb (the minor of Eb). This is the logic. Happens in quite a few songs, up a fourth twice in other words. Good fun!
      Best,
      Dan

How long have you been playing jazz for? Did you go school/take lessons or self-thought?

Hi there. 22 years I suppose. Self-taught from the masters and books and self-discovery and applying philosophies and dedication to Liszt technical exercises. This video may be of interest to you: th-cam.com/video/allYVzSW4So/w-d-xo.html

probably not related to the video. What is the difference b/w Csus2 and Gsus4 ? Gsus4 in inverted is same as Csus2. Thanks.

Easy answer: What's the bass note? I don't mean the lowest note of the inversion, I mean the BASS note; the key of the chord, what the bass player would play? If it's G, it's Gsus4, if it's C, it's Csus2. If it's whatever, then the notes are labelled accordingly! :)
