It is obvious that architecture of former times is much better than modern architecture. It is nice. Modern architecture is = squares, triangle and that is all.

There's no sign of cultural or local heritage anymore. All modern buildings around the world look similar. What a great decline in (arcitectural) culture. I could shoot all our arcitects (many of them and namely the most notabel consider themself as modern artists) to the moon as well as most of our contemporary other artists...
@@menkulinanaldebaran7509 What I noticed with German architecture is that it is very huge. Large windows, high ceilings. For modern day standards it takes away the capacity. Effectiveness and simple design is what made Germany come up from the dust again.
More beautiful efforts, this walk is helpful to awareness about the history of these historical areas+construction of their houses, which called as half timber houses . Really these are more beautiful, so thanks for this video with beautiful efforts...
Mike, I never lived in Esslingen. I lived mostly nearby in Scharnhausen (Ostfildern) and Ludwigsburg. My mother was German, my father was U.S. Army and we moved around quite a bit. I was born in Schweinfurt but don't remember it. Lived in Füssen too & often visited my Oma & Opa who lived in Worms. That is what I meant by Heimat - it is all "home" to me. Sorry if I caused confusion by my term... :-)

I live in Chicago Illinois now but there is only one place that i love more then life itself and it is my beautiful Germany! i will be back my love and we will be together again once more! Now I was born in Bosnia but that beautiful country and it's people accepted us with open arms sadly after that brutal war was over we were told we had to leave which was really not fair to me i started school there, all my friends were there and i loved my Germany and Esslingen more then Bosnia itself... but we were told we had to leave but because the international community partitioned my country and our house was on the side of the enemy the same enemy that ethnically cleansed my whole family the same enemy that killed 3 of my uncles and 8 of my cousins which were all under 16 years old 6 males and 2 females because my father feared for himself and his family me my brother and mother we were allowed my the U.S government asylum which I'm so thankful for today I'm a very proud US Citizen and wear my colors proudly i celebrate my U.S holidays and achievements but as you can all see i still love the country which gave me the boot i wish i could explain it and don't get me wrong i love the United States dearly as i love Bosnia but Germany has a very special place in my heart after all it is my childhood!

I'm 73 now and glad I can still walk about and travel a bit. Never know how long it will last.... By the way, my father was stationed in Nellingen around 1955-57 and we lived in the small town of Scharnhausen (I have 2 videos up of a return visit there), as well as Ludwigsburg (have several videos up of a return visit there also). But, we never went to Esslingen while we lived in Scharnhausen - this was my 1st trip there.
the "charming house" in the beginning got renovation and is a market/restaurant in the middle part and downstairs is an italian restaurant with very nice food and a terrace where you can sit by the water and enjoy your meal
Hi Ivan....just saw this. We just got back 2 days ago from our latest trip to Europe: we spent the whole month of May in England, starting with London and working our way north, visiting major cities like York, Cambridge, Bath, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and countless others, as well as the mountains of the Lake District. Then we spent 2 weeks, in June, in Scotland, primarily in Edinburgh and Glasgow and smaller towns. Pooped right now but will try to put up videos soon. Glad to hear that you are doing ok !!!
Just got back from our 1.5 month European Vacation: finally visited Vienna for 4 days, started in Slovenia, then drove all over Croatia, also visited the country of Montenegro, from Vienna did a day trip to Bratislava, Slovakia, then ended our trip in 5 days in fantastic Prague, Czechia. James, I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. Hope that you are surrounded by many friends, family, etc. at this time. Glad that my video was some comfort and joy to you - sorry that you never were able to go back to Germany. I grew up there, left at age 10 & did not make it back for my 1st visit until 55 years later. (I have a couple of You Tube videos up that specifically focus on where I lived as a child - Ludwigsburg, Scharnhausen and Fussen - just click on my name and then look for my playlists). I did a return visit last year again, but only have a few videos up so far, with many more to come).
Beautiful! I love beautiful old towns and beautiful buildings, especially the magical medieval cities that make me think of knights, kings and queens, churches and castles, fairy tales, its like the Disney fairy tale movies but real life
Whenever we travel to other countries, especially Europe, the focus is always on these old type of towns, the castles, palaces, etc. I love stepping back in time and imagining the people who once lived here. Needless to say, costume dramas are my favorite type of TV shows and films. Thanks for commenting.
@@TheWWWatson ofcourse but Europe isn't created equal, some nations have more than others. From my research, Germany along with France has the most beautiful medieval cities, and Italy has the most beautiful ancient civilization cities plus some nice medieval ones,UK i am not a big fan of tho.
Me, too....I was stationed not far from there, for 3 yrs,and spent a lot of time in Esslingen. I left in Aug 88 and miss it something awful. Hopefully I'll make it next year. It will be like going home.
Hi Ivan. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well with both of you. We are doing great, except Ed fell while doing a morning run and broke his left wrist pretty badly. Had to have surgery/metal implants, etc. Still recovering but doing better overall. The good news is that he will retire at the end of February. Has been working from home for about 6 months now, good to have him here ever day. Once it's safe again, we plan on doing even more traveling next year, now that we'll have more time. How about you two....planning trips back to Austria or elsewhere next year also. Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday season.

Hello, Ivan. How are the two of you. Fine, I hope. Ed will retire from his job at the end of June (he's given notice several times but they were lazy about getting a replacement). Since it is a government job, Ed did not want to leave them in a lurch, so he extended the April date to May and now June. He plans to stick with that...LOL, but we'll see. We have both gotten our vaccines already, but no we really haven't traveled much at all. That trip to Mexico 2 years ago was the last major one - need to put more videos up for that too. We've done a few "day trips" but our cat has also had medical issues, so it keeps us close to home. Thank God for the Bay Area, it's never boring around here, always something to see, explore. Hope you are staying safe. I doubt we'll travel to Europe this year...much too iffy, even with the vaccines. We'll see. Hope you two are staying safe, but enjoying little "mini vacations" out in the country, for walks, hikes, etc.

Hello guys. I want to find some information in 1970 - 1974. Can anyone tell me if there was a factory back then. The name who was the boss of the factory wasklaus or stefan. The factory was located on esslingen and was near the street. Behind the factory were existing a lot of bridges with lights. Distance from the center of esslingen around 500 meters. Habib Denver Hello Habib. Thanks for your nice comments. You can't go wrong with Heidelberg, truly a beautiful town, so very much to do and see. Stuttgart is a combination of some old and much new that is very vibrant, all located centrally - you can also take a short side trip/day trip to nearby Ludwigsburg, which has one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in all of Germany (it also has 2 other palaces, but other than that, not much more to offer other than the nearby old town center area - but you won't be disappointed, especially if you make the main palace your focus). Hope that helps you...you may have already seen my other You Tube videos of these places - if not, just look under my playlist of "Germany and Austria" and you can see which ones I have).
Not like I used to. I was born and raised in Germany, but left when I was 10 years old to move to the U.S. Over time, I lost much of my ability to speak it. I can actually read German better (and understanding much of it) than speaking it
Salvus967 Hi - thanks for commenting. Though it looked like it was going to be a major storm, it was only light showers for about 45 minutes and then stopped. It was the only time it rained during our 3 week vacation that took place the last week in Sept. and first 2 weeks in October.

Habib Denver Hello Habib. Thanks for your nice comments. You can't go wrong with Heidelberg, truly a beautiful town, so very much to do and see. Stuttgart is a combination of some old and much new that is very vibrant, all located centrally - you can also take a short side trip/day trip to nearby Ludwigsburg, which has one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in all of Germany (it also has 2 other palaces, but other than that, not much more to offer other than the nearby old town center area - but you won't be disappointed, especially if you make the main palace your focus). Hope that helps you...you may have already seen my other You Tube videos of these places - if not, just look under my playlist of "Germany and Austria" and you can see which ones I have).
Tübingen, Constance, Ravensburg, Schwäbisch Hall, etc. are never wrong.

Not like I used to. I was born and raised in Germany, but left when I was 10 years old to move to the U.S. Over time, I lost much of my ability to speak it. I can actually read German better (and understanding much of it) than speaking it

Salvus967 Hi - thanks for commenting. Though it looked like it was going to be a major storm, it was only light showers for about 45 minutes and then stopped. It was the only time it rained during our 3 week vacation that took place the last week in Sept. and first 2 weeks in October.
