for me, the first puffle rescue music was really great and epic, it was one of my favourite minigames and it was because of the music it always immerged me in its epicness, its a masterpiece.
Oooh, I loved the puddle rescue music! Especially the Pink Puffle cave one! Also, I love how the metal hits in that one are anvils. Club Penguin’s weird obsession with anvils will never fail to make me laugh for some reason. And how did I never realize that the 2 of them were remixes of the same melody?
The anvil thing was my fault. I introduced them into Bean Counters, because I grew up with cartoons like Looney Tunes where anvils seemed to be everywhere as a heavy object.
Interesting, never saw a Musician before, who uses a 2/4 Beat and many References to other Songs same time in one Song! xD Oh yes, good old Anvils in the most epic Cinematic Soundtracks are always a must have! ;)
My dad and I played a lot of Puffle Rescue and I always liked how surprisingly intense the music was! It really made it feel like a perilous quest. Your videos are teaching me a lot about the composition process, too.

I'd always be humming the theme, people would ask me what I was humming. I just told them "A club penguin song" and they were beyond confused.

I always remember playing Puffle Rescue, and I remember thinking "There's been an escape at the blue/black/pink Puffle factory"! You must wonder why all the Puffles you need to rescue in a given area are the same colour.

I actually like the progression from overactive song to more subdued in the second level. It starts by getting there player hyped and then gives them a break. Kind of like the second level of Mario being underground.
I found out about your series on Club Penguin's music a few days ago and I've already watched all of them and can't wait for more! Possibly my favorite song in all of CP (although it's hard to choose out of so many good ones) is the old Jazz Piano song, did you happen to write it?

During the song "In The Cave" (which is the second stage of Puffle Rescue), the bass guitar line at 5:07-5:20 sounds a bit like the bass line used in Sonic Spinball's first level, Toxic Caves. Is it a coincidence? Possibly idk.
Not intentionally, but I absolutely did play Sonic Spinball at a friend's house growing up (not that I ever got past the first level), so it could be subconsciously related to it.

i wonder what do you think about the third song (even though you didn't compose it). for me it feels like a mix of ideas of first and second songs: lots of various effects, yet all of them are specifically themed around the environment. personally it's my favorite, but cave theme is very good too
Can you do Mine Surfer? I'd really like to see that one. I'm making a mod for Super Smash Brothers Brawl with my friends and we're adding the penguin, along with other classic characters from the game, to Project M/Brawl. I am remastering some songs from the game and adding a twist, as they do in Smash Bros. I'm still a bit new to making music, but i think what i made came out pretty good, that being the Mine Surfer song.
Awesome project! I didn't compose the Cart Surfer song, and that's actually been one of the hardest ones to find in high quality. I wasn't keeping great records of songs back then.

Someone found an unused puffle rescue title screen in the files for Club Penguin and I couldn't help but notice that the middlemost penguin was wearing a jetpack (you can find the image here: tcrf.net/images/0/0d/Club_Penguin-Unused_Puffle_Rescue_Title_Screen.png). Do you know anything about this, and was the third level originally planned to take place in the sky rather than underwater?
I recognize which artist drew this (the same one who drew the Pizzatron 3000 title screen and many of the comics). I'm not sure why that penguin is wearing a jet pack.
