The NCAA transfer portal: where loyalty is as fleeting as a Snapchat story, and the only thing more unstable than a player's commitment is fans' reactions on Twitter.
What we are seeing here is a sheltered child of helicopter parents going off to college and going the complete opposite direction. Had the players been paid a reasonable amount all these years, they wouldn't be demanding ludicrous amounts of money and switching teams left and right. It would be college football still where players commit to a program. Except they wouldn't be dirt poor like the NCAA wanted them to be.
@@joesmith6972 I agree the parents don’t help the structure. A lot of these parents are more concerned about what money the kids can get to help the parents instead of best fit for a program and overall goal to make it to the NFL where the real money comes from. These days the parents are just as bad as the kids. It’s like recruiting two kids instead of one and a pair of adults.
Yep, the NCAA could have agreed to letting players even have enough to take their parents to dinner. They could have helped their families pay the travel to come see them pay. But no, the NCAA was more interested in their piwer to prevent it, then lowering the hammer on programs they disliked when someone gave the kid a stupid cheeseburger.
Because that's what U want to happen. If all or most Ohio State wrs leave it's because NIL guaranteed at least 500k AND a starting position. So Ohio State has 5 wr guarantees nil and playing time plus and NFL career plus after retirement. That leave 4 left. I can think of 9 teams who have a good wr group not naming Ohio State. I think you should look at the power 5 schools who will lose a whole lot, not the Georgia Ohio State Oregon or etc top team schools
Ohio State can't even backfill their running back coach as of yet it's doubtful that they can backfill any of their receivers . If you're a receiver why would you go to a team where several receivers are jumping ship doesn't make sense.
So any player can enter the portal any time? I thought non-graduate players can only enter 1) when the portal is formally open (winter and spring windows) or 2) when the hc leaves. So there ARE limits.
Anyone who's experienced what it takes for an addict or alkie to realize it's time to sober up will understand why Josh says this "moment" is absolutely necessary. Painful for all, but worth it.
I am signing out on College Football. I can't stand to see it anymore. This is just ridiculous. I don't mind players getting $$$ but it seems the players run the show. Where are the rules? This is a circus show now. They will never stare down adversity because they now run from it. All this is doing is creating more shitty players. Good luck to the NFL drafting these players.

I’d be very surprised, he’s uncontested as the QB1 and has said multiple times how Alabama is where he wants to be Saban or not. He’s def already getting paid too so I doubt that’s a factor.
What does it say about college football that having the Supreme Court find that the players should have rights and be compensated has crated a giant problem?
I hear what you are saying... But here is the thing... What I hear you saying is that we must get to a place where we can limit the rights of these players to do the things that everyone else is able to do... for the good of the game... (a game that has a tradition of rich white men reaping the monetary spoils at the expense of their mostly minority players).
The tired old race card trope. Cry me a river that these young men are getting a free education at excellent colleges and being developed to potentially play in the NFL. Last time I checked the white players are held to the same standards. So try to come up with another argument. Yall would burn down everything good in society for the race card.
You might want to wait until they actually win some big games before making statements like that. They certainly didn’t look good last few times anyone saw them play, and they’re coming off one of the ugliest losses in college football history. It’s great to be excited about and support your team, but it’s also great to be somewhere in the realm of reality. Just saying… RTR
The Caden Procter thing was highly unethical. He screwed his home state school, deliberately. I wish him bad luck, one of the most low down things I've seen a player do.
Mr. Pate, how easily you just flicked away your viewers who disagree with you. Message heard. It is going to be harder for your hero coaches to force young people to stay and serve the 'greater purpose' of the team. It's terrible for the players to have to stay when they are not happy and not paid well. Seems you'd like to to find a way to force them to stay, if it helps the team and the coach being more successful on the field, and more importantly brings the team, and especially the coach, more money.
@@stevemak8620 It would seem your level of thinking is quite surface level and filled in personal political bias. If the sport is ruined to the point where alumnus and fans of the game that ultimately fund the game walk away then everyone loses.
I don't see it happening. I'm sure after rumors started flying when Proctor announced he was gonna hit the spring portal and OS offered Downs even more money to stay put I don't see how he could leave after accepting it. Even if he could legally walk away with that 💰it would be too bad of a look for him accepting it knowing he was gonna return to Bama!

All this could have been avoided if the NCAA would have agreed to pay players a long time ago

Arch Manning transfers. Probably some LSU QB’s and Ohio State too. Could also see Oregon movement
Y’all been saying arch gonna transfer since he got to ut let it rest
Arch is QB 2 as a RS freshman. Quinn Ewers is injury prone also. Ohio state losing a QB is almost guranteed. They have 5 super talented guys.
Why Oregon movement
Arch Manning isn't transferring lol
