I keep saying why don’t they start forcing inmates to adopt mindful practices that help heal/manage our human selves through this interesting adventure. What would happen if meditation, yoga, learning about yourself and how you go to that point to build awareness to hopefully not get there again and make prison a place where the goal is you go once, with the hope you get the rehabilitation you need to not resort back to the same timeline you were on
As soon as my friend meditated in jail, and kept that as a routine, she was released and the heavy charges were dropped. Obviously there’s more to the story, but she said that really helped her while she was there and she even had a prophetic dream about leaving before the her court date and release. Hope your brother is well.

Been in a 12 th house stellum for 59 years. I've had an amazing life full of events. I was a Lay Midwife for years, a Mother, a Wife, Grew up on a Commune, I'm a RN, however 15 years ago I was injured at the hospital a patient broke my neck so health has been a focus. I don't know any other life and believe more about Dharma vs Karma. I'm bedridden a lot. However I'm highly Empathetic. Therefore the Alone time helps me recoup my energy. Having an easy life could have been boring I'm grateful for every aspect of my life good or not. I'm the type person I believe in bettering my life and enjoying my life daily for good or not... I have a stellium of 5 Libra planets in the 12 whole house. About a decade ago, I was given an opportunity to wean myself off of all mental health medications... I have never gone back. I DO practice devotions of meditation and prayer. Among the most important of these was ACCEPTING that sometimes I get depressed. It is part of life, just like happiness. I "observe" that it still happens, when it happens. But I also observe that it is impermanent. So I embrace them with contemplation and non-aversion just as I embrace the happy moments with non-attachment to avoid craving and addictive dependency. I am thus no longer running from this twelfth house, although Saturn is also there.

Self-undoing indeed. :) I've often referred to myself as the "most reluctant Leo rising." I used to struggle with the dichotomy quite a bit before cultivating a spiritual practice.

I have Saturn in this house. When I was eight, my father was killed on Winter Solstice - his mother's birthday,and her only son. She was living with us at the time, and had a nervous breakdown...and this started a life of deep contemplation in answering the profound questions of life....I have lost many lovers since- not while I was with them, thankfully! Saturn here as well, in Leo... more miscarriages than live births, spinal trauma, husband left us just one day with his boss, a Capricorn.... but yet- I would never give up these things for the deep internal pain and self knowing this journey has given me, and the kids.... to lead a life with a softness, a kindness, and empathy to all and their path. 🌱🥰🙏and now I teach children meditation to get thru the crazy times and know themselves as well. Crazy- I have Uranus and North Node in Scorpio in my 12th house, conjunct my Scorpio ascendant. As a teenager I was admitted to an inpatient psych unit for a month and am now a hospice care companion, based in my deep spirituality. But anyway, besides all the "normal" 12th house stuff discussed here, my dad was also killed when I was young. Electrocuted=Uranus. Crazy
Sorry to hear this. I have a stellum in the 12th house. My father was killed when I was 10 on the autumn equinox. 10 years later his farther dies on the same day. Interesting and sad they are similar stories

Thank you for your insight. I have always pondered how my Leo Moon in the 12th House shows up in my life. I can safely say, it’s not about me... I have worked in the hospital as an ICU nurse and now as a case manager that works with others to often arrange rehab, hospice and outside of the hospital assistance and care. Often I battle with “others’” autonomy and their desire to not be confined or the loss of their physical ability to care for themselves, or those experiencing dementia, in which their ability to make sense of their world is impaired. I must work to help others but find the need to remind myself of my separateness from their issues. My daily work mantra...”I love my job”...

This was a warming energy. Pluto. Uranus, Mars in the 12th house of Virgo. I became the servant, from a young age I knew learning was taking place if I was humble. But Im a Sag so being humble was more like getting humbled and then receiving the understanding:) Im over 50 now, in my 6th house I have Saturn and Chiron in Pisces and now I think those two have been balancing my 12th all along. JoJo is an aquarius rising with saturn, venus and mercury in capricorn (12th) in a day time chart. She's just had her saturn return and came out with a short documentary about why we haven't seen her in so long. She was unable to take control of her career due to abusive record deals with a label (which she describes as the 'sinking ship') that doesn't even exist anymore, but had all the rights to everything of hers, even her voice, she still can't even put her albums on streaming services. Her father was an addict and she lost him. And she also went through a phase with drugs and alcohol to deal with everything. Now she's coming back after years and years of fighting to release an album.

Thanks for this video great to have a better understanding; ) I have Scorpio sun, Venus and Uranus all in the 12th. I have often sacrificed my own needs in relationships that are destructive and have done so for the benefit of others often in caretaking etc. I know deep down that I am ok but have felt these people need me thou I don’t need them but sacrificed my happiness for them. I’m finally coming to terms with this and see myself rising above this .
Venus and mercury in the 12th house, and yes my love life has been one shipwreck after another. Cancer Sun in the 12th as well, and yes I struggle with mental health but after breaking a decade long addiction cycle found myself working in a rehab facility. 🤔 now if I could only figure out how to turn my venus around🙃
Get used to the idea your partner will be older than you, and work on yourself. 12th house Venus does bless you the best way possible but might as well get used to the idea you will always attract older partners. 18 years with the best human being possible for me, 16 years married, he is 12 years older and l had to move to a foreign country ( all part of Venus on the 12th house ), l have a freaking fairy tale marriage. Sorry I’m a total amateur but was wondering if your rising sign is cancer, how is it your 12th house too? Your 12th should be Gemini and your 1st house should be Cancer? The placements in your chart seem very rare and unusual. Never came across such a case before.
I don’t think I recall you touching on the topic of twin flames, but mine has been in FED for two years & getting out in a few weeks. He has Mercury and Sun fully in his 12th. I have Aqua Mercury in 12th conjunct my Aqua ascendant . We were both born at 6:01 am. He’s been leading yoga & meditation classes and studying Spirituality and religion along with cognitive work etc.. it’s been a major transformative time and he’s made a 180 turn around. It’s been amazing to see from my POV.
Thank you again, Adam. Great explanation. I don't have any planets in the 12th in my Natal chart, but lots in House 9, so any transits through the 12th will square all my planets in the 9th. I currently have Mars approaching Uranus which is bang on on my Asc (29 Aries - and has been for a while). I think Uranus went into Aries in 2011. I've had a very productive life experience throughout these last 8 years, but have recently fallen prey to many enemies, that's true (Pluto has been conjuncting my natal Saturn over the last 3 years too). I'm really hoping that both Mars and Uranus moving on from past my Asc over the next 3 weeks (especially Uranus, which has gone past it, and backwards over my Asc into the 12th again - exact next Monday night), will help me really move on from these enemies! Being so severely bullied has taught me a lot of things about human nature which I would have preferred not to have had to face - it was really difficult, and for a very long period of time (still going on), but maybe those are lessons I needed to learn. There have been many harrowing surprises and a lot of very nasty conflict - certainly sth I would not wish on anyone, and it's true that I was under their control and was near losing the plot as a result a few times. Chiron is about to enter my 12th house as it enters Aries. I don't know what to expect with this visit but shall be investigating. Many thanks again.

I resonate with a lot of what you spoke on. I def lost a lot of control over my identity due to closed adoption. That lead me to have mental health challenges. Also was dx adhd when 19 (I’m now 38). Lost my ex husband to alcoholism and suicide last year so this all checks out. My life has absolutely been challenging but I have gotten to experience a lot of profound experiences which has lead me deeper into my spiritual practice

Moon in 12th. Mother became alcoholic starting when she was about age 30. Also in mental health facility several times before my 15th birthday. I was only about 9 or 10 when she started drinking. Father was Cancer (another moon reference), & paralyzed from car wreck when I was 8, which probably is the main reason for my mother starting to drink. But if I do my chart your way, Moon is placed in my 1st house, which most of the time, is the real me. Very emotional. Gemini ascendant has probably saved my life. Lite & curious & there are many subjects I have interested in & I’m never bored. Scorpio energy keeps me from being too shallow, mostly.
This video is very very interesting and useful. I've only Mars in the 12th house, in Aquarius, and it's very difficult for me to simply have some kind of will. In the 12th house it can't be a classic Mars, it necessarily has to do some kind of neptunian activity of any kind. Luckily I've found astrology at and early age, which is my mental savior. Pisces is a spiritual sign.. once you have acceptance. You use it as a place for self growth. I used it as place for learning through books.. its can be more like a Monestary. Its a contemplative house. Nature can work like the 12th house. I think Buddha lived here. The 12th house for me is a place for learning how to more effectively live in the social constructs. Through our sextiles and trines we can because very successful. Our squares can even challenge us through circumstances that come to us and we learn from them. If I did not have so much in the 12th I would not have been so fascinated and studied in Astrology. Its so indepth much like Philosophy. The 12th house contains Empathy and Compassion, Greater Understanding, Adaptability. Most of all INTUITION. Its a place for retreating, planning, envisioning and dreaming your life into reality. It can be a place where your greatness is seeded and tended to. The Astrology chart helps with the plan.. but you would do the things in society that are needed that you lack... no one likes to be alone too long. We heal ourselves both in the 12th house and the 6th and 10th.. when karmic timing naturally has our back even when we dont know about this. Whatever we lack or hate about ourselves while young . We will be certain to manifest the opposite at some point. Lots of time to dream and study. Even the things we Love about ourselves and other's dont.. we will still figure out the higher expression, to put out in the world. We may be determined to fix soceitu or the systems that shamed us and others into forced retreat. The greater calling perhaps. The once in prison apparently have a Tsquare to the 12th. When you don't surrender, you don't accept and you try to change it and fight against it and for it. Peace comes when you allow it to be as is. If someone else chooses to suffer after knowing this, it is their will. One can only be accountable for oneself.
This is possibly the best explanation of the meaning of the 12th I've heard. I also find the symbolism of the 12th (along with the 6th, 8th, and 2nd) being in aversion to the 1st very helpful in understanding the 12th feeling disconnected from the ascendant because it can't see it, with one of the major aspects that is. Is there a reason why you didn't mention that part of the symbolism of the house? As someone with the ascendant ruler in the 12th it is this experience of never being able to quite "see" yourself clearly that causes much suffering, confusion, and self-undoing.

My experience? My daughter lost custody of her two boys. My young grandchildren. Im now, a single grandmother raising two boys. I've looked forward to this time of my life. I love my grandchildren, yet I feel imprisoned. It's making me physically sick. I know this sacrifice is my destiny. My karma. And, my ancestorial karma. I have no help for any respite. I'm physically, spiritually, and mentally suffering. This suffering is necessary. These boys deserve sooo much more. I'm trying so hard to nor feel spiteful and angry. My daughter? Doing whatever she wants and just had another child with another deadbeat. I'm devastated at this "loss of control" of my own life and freedom. I think it's the moon in 12th house, I've often seen this kind of ability in many charts with a 12th house Moon. Moon is the sleep, the dreaming. Saturn seems to be the very opposite of the Moon, lucidity, awakeness, clear mind, but they are a secret couple, who rules Time. The Moon gives you the foreshadowing of events and Saturn to me gives you the power to remember those dreams, to cristallize them. Great gift.
I have a grand fire trine in 12th. I am really grappling with acceptance of suffering, your take here is very helpful. I will say though, I'll never accept it, I'll never submit to god and I will always hate this world. Just realized you're using whole house signs. When using Placidus my Sun and Moon are in the 12th (Pisces) but when using whole signs I have both the Sun and Moon in the 1st house (Pisces). Gah, so confusing! Vedic my Moon is in the 12th with Sun in 1st as well.
Yes please do my son at 23 years old was in prison for a year and half and last 3 months yoga was introduced and I visiting him. Saw a shift in him and calmness. If I can say about incarceration. He looked forward to yoga and did it twice a day in prison. He said he slept better since the lights never go out and felt a calmness. Please do ❤️

Been in a 12 th house stellum for 59 years. I've had an amazing life full of events. I was a Lay Midwife for years, a Mother, a Wife, Grew up on a Commune, I'm a RN, however 15 years ago I was injured at the hospital a patient broke my neck so health has been a focus. I don't know any other life and believe more about Dharma vs Karma. I'm bedridden a lot. However I'm highly Empathetic. Therefore the Alone time helps me recoup my energy. Having an easy life could have been boring I'm grateful for every aspect of my life good or not. I'm the type person I believe in bettering my life and enjoying my life daily for good or not... I have a stellium of 5 Libra planets in the 12 whole house. About a decade ago, I was given an opportunity to wean myself off of all mental health medications... I have never gone back. I DO practice devotions of meditation and prayer. Among the most important of these was ACCEPTING that sometimes I get depressed. It is part of life, just like happiness. I "observe" that it still happens, when it happens. But I also observe that it is impermanent. So I embrace them with contemplation and non-aversion just as I embrace the happy moments with non-attachment to avoid craving and addictive dependency. I am thus no longer running from this twelfth house, although Saturn is also there.
I finally underestood and accepted myself when I found out I have Sun, Mercury, Venus and Pluto on the 12:th house

Self-undoing indeed. :) I've often referred to myself as the "most reluctant Leo rising." I used to struggle with the dichotomy quite a bit before cultivating a spiritual practice.

As a teenager I was admitted to an inpatient psych unit for a month and am now a hospice care companion, based in my deep spirituality. But anyway, besides all the "normal" 12th house stuff discussed here, my dad was also killed when I was young. Electrocuted=Uranus. Crazy
Sorry to hear this. I have a stellum in the 12th house. My father was killed when I was 10 on the autumn equinox. 10 years later his farther dies on the same day. Interesting and sad they are similar stories

I have worked in the hospital as an ICU nurse and now as a case manager that works with others to often arrange rehab, hospice and outside of the hospital assistance and care. Often I battle with “others’” autonomy and their desire to not be confined or the loss of their physical ability to care for themselves, or those experiencing dementia, in which their ability to make sense of their world is impaired. I must work to help others but find the need to remind myself of my separateness from their issues. My daily work mantra...”I love my job”...

This was a warming energy. Pluto. Uranus, Mars in the 12th house of Virgo. I became the servant, from a young age I knew learning was taking place if I was humble. But Im a Sag so being humble was more like getting humbled and then receiving the understanding:) Im over 50 now, in my 6th house I have Saturn and Chiron in Pisces and now I think those two have been balancing my 12th all along. That was a lot of writing to say that people ( arm chair astrologers ) made me afraid of my 12th house, made me afraid my psyche was on edge when I was young. JoJo is an aquarius rising with saturn, venus and mercury in capricorn (12th) in a day time chart. She's just had her saturn return and came out with a short documentary about why we haven't seen her in so long. She was unable to take control of her career due to abusive record deals with a label (which she describes as the 'sinking ship') that doesn't even exist anymore, but had all the rights to everything of hers, even her voice, she still can't even put her albums on streaming services. Her father was an addict and she lost him. And she also went through a phase with drugs and alcohol to deal with everything. Now she's coming back after years and years of fighting to release an album.

I have often sacrificed my own needs in relationships that are destructive and have done so for the benefit of others often in caretaking etc. I know deep down that I am ok but have felt these people need me thou I don’t need them but sacrificed my happiness for them. Get used to the idea your partner will be older than you, and work on yourself. 12th house Venus does bless you the best way possible but might as well get used to the idea you will always attract older partners. 18 years with the best human being possible for me, 16 years married, he is 12 years older and l had to move to a foreign country ( all part of Venus on the 12th house ), l have a freaking fairy tale marriage. I don’t think I recall you touching on the topic of twin flames, but mine has been in FED for two years & getting out in a few weeks. He has Mercury and Sun fully in his 12th. I have Aqua Mercury in 12th conjunct my Aqua ascendant . We were both born at 6:01 am. He’s been leading yoga & meditation classes and studying Spirituality and religion along with cognitive work etc.. it’s been a major transformative time and he’s made a 180 turn around. It’s been amazing to see from my POV.
Thank you again, Adam. Great explanation. I don't have any planets in the 12th in my Natal chart, but lots in House 9, so any transits through the 12th will square all my planets in the 9th. I currently have Mars approaching Uranus which is bang on on my Asc (29 Aries - and has been for a while). I think Uranus went into Aries in 2011. I've had a very productive life experience throughout these last 8 years, but have recently fallen prey to many enemies, that's true (Pluto has been conjuncting my natal Saturn over the last 3 years too). I'm really hoping that both Mars and Uranus moving on from past my Asc over the next 3 weeks (especially Uranus, which has gone past it, and backwards over my Asc into the 12th again - exact next Monday night), will help me really move on from these enemies! Being so severely bullied has taught me a lot of things about human nature which I would have preferred not to have had to face - it was really difficult, and for a very long period of time (still going on), but maybe those are lessons I needed to learn. There have been many harrowing surprises and a lot of very nasty conflict - certainly sth I would not wish on anyone, and it's true that I was under their control and was near losing the plot as a result a few times. Chiron is about to enter my 12th house as it enters Aries. I don't know what to expect with this visit but shall be investigating. Many thanks again.

Lost my ex husband to alcoholism and suicide last year so this all checks out. Moon in 12th. Mother became alcoholic starting when she was about age 30. Also in mental health facility several times before my 15th birthday. I was only about 9 or 10 when she started drinking. Father was Cancer (another moon reference), & paralyzed from car wreck when I was 8, which probably is the main reason for my mother starting to drink. But if I do my chart your way, Moon is placed in my 1st house, which most of the time, is the real me. Very emotional. Gemini ascendant has probably saved my life. Lite & curious & there are many subjects I have interested in & I’m never bored. Scorpio energy keeps me from being too shallow, mostly.

This video is very very interesting and useful. I've only Mars in the 12th house, in Aquarius, and it's very difficult for me to simply have some kind of will. In the 12th house it can't be a classic Mars, it necessarily has to do some kind of neptunian activity of any kind. Luckily I've found astrology at and early age, which is my mental savior. Astrology makes order into the chaos and helps us to deal with everything.

Pisces is a spiritual sign.. once you have acceptance. You use it as a place for self growth. I used it as place for learning through books.. its can be more like a Monestary. Its a contemplative house. Nature can work like the 12th house. I think Buddha lived here. The 12th house for me is a place for learning how to more effectively live in the social constructs. Through our sextiles and trines we can because very successful. Our squares can even challenge us through circumstances that come to us and we learn from them. If I did not have so much in the 12th I would not have been so fascinated and studied in Astrology. Its so indepth much like Philosophy. The 12th house contains Empathy and Compassion, Greater Understanding, Adaptability. Most of all INTUITION. Its a place for retreating, planning, envisioning and dreaming your life into reality. It can be a place where your greatness is seeded and tended to. The Astrology chart helps with the plan.. but you would do the things in society that are needed that you lack... no one likes to be alone too long. We heal ourselves both in the 12th house and the 6th and 10th.. when karmic timing naturally has our back even when we dont know about this. Whatever we lack or hate about ourselves while young . We will be certain to manifest the opposite at some point. Lots of time to dream and study. Even the things we Love about ourselves and other's dont.. we will still figure out the higher expression, to put out in the world. We may be determined to fix soceitu or the systems that shamed us and others into forced retreat. The greater calling perhaps. The once in prison apparently have a Tsquare to the 12th. This is possibly the best explanation of the meaning of the 12th I've heard. I also find the symbolism of the 12th (along with the 6th, 8th, and 2nd) being in aversion to the 1st very helpful in understanding the 12th feeling disconnected from the ascendant because it can't see it, with one of the major aspects that is.
Is there a reason why you didn't mention that part of the symbolism of the house?
As someone with the ascendant ruler in the 12th it is this experience of never being able to quite "see" yourself clearly that causes much suffering, confusion, and self-undoing.

My experience? My daughter lost custody of her two boys. My young grandchildren. Im now, a single grandmother raising two boys. I've looked forward to this time of my life. I love my grandchildren, yet I feel imprisoned. It's making me physically sick. I know this sacrifice is my destiny. My karma. And, my ancestorial karma. I have no help for any respite. I'm physically, spiritually, and mentally suffering. This suffering is necessary. These boys deserve sooo much more. I'm trying so hard to nor feel spiteful and angry. My daughter? Doing whatever she wants and just had another child with another deadbeat. I'm devastated at this "loss of control" of my own life and freedom. I have Saturn, Venus, Moon, Chiron, Sedna, and North Node in my 12th.

I think it's the moon in 12th house, I've often seen this kind of ability in many charts with a 12th house Moon. Moon is the sleep, the dreaming. Just realized you're using whole house signs. When using Placidus my Sun and Moon are in the 12th (Pisces) but when using whole signs I have both the Sun and Moon in the 1st house (Pisces). Gah, so confusing!

If the 12th house itself is void of any planets transiting at the time that something very "12th house" happens to someone, can we see it by the dignity of the 12th houses ruler by transit? Like is the 12th house "bad" stuff more likely to happen when the ruler is in dignity or is it more likely to happen when the ruler is weakened by house and sign?
