The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons Shattered Speedrun in

It's fair if you did not know about this hack prior to this video. After all, I didn't really talk about it much except in specific Discord Channels (mostly the Oracles Speedrunning Disc and the Zelda Hacking disc). Oracle of Seasons Shattered is a ROM Hack based off the original Oracle of Seasons that I developed over the course of 2022 and 2023, which was released at the end of 2023. This hack takes the vanilla base game, and ramps the difficulty up to kaizo-base levels. The palettes of locations, especially the dungeons, were changed to give a new aesthetic for each place. This hack implements things that you do not normally see in the base game, such as the top of Goron Mountain being able to be shown in every season, as opposed to just being seen in winter. This video is a speedrun showcasing the entirety of what you need to do to complete this hack. The splits you see mostly compare to my first attempt at doing this run. This is with the exception of the final 3 splits, where I put placeholder values since I did not finish said first run. Reaching D8 was as far as I got in that run, and I was around 2.5 hours into the Changing Seasons split, which is completing all of D8, before I had to stop the run. Therefore, I simply added 1 hour to that split, and then 1 more combined hour in the final 2 splits just to have split times for every section.
It must be stressed, this hack is NOT built with casual players of the base game in mind. Like other similar kaizo games, this was designed to be infuriating. This hack forces you to do things that you would normally never do in the base game, such as using Ember Seeds to destroy signs. Speedrun tricks, such as the many Bomb Jumps and Bomb Clips, as well as Hide and Seek Skip, are also required in order to make progress. The same thing goes for the many, many corner walks that are also required. It may seem like there's a lot of pausing in this run, but it's very much a necessity due to some of the timings being quite strict. Also, if you were potentially thinking about doing a valid 100% attempt in this hack, don't bother. I made decisions in this hack to ensure that true 100% is impossible to accomplish without cheating. Allowing the obtaining of the Red Ring for example was never going to be an option in this due to it trivializing the combat too much.
The difficulty of this hack is such that it doesn't matter if you know a trick is coming. If you can't execute the tricks, this hack will mess you up anyways. As you can see, even from someone like me who's very seasoned in the Oracles games, even I still make a LOT of mistakes in this run. Even a small execution mistake can cause you to lose many minutes in the run, just to get another shot at the same trick.
