Before frangible pins, when the fences didn’t come down, YOU did. I’d be interested if, statistically, eventing actually did become “safer” post-millennium. Sometimes it seems to me all the “safety” adjustments and frangible pins only invited more lemmings onto the cliffs. I’m probably just bitter, though.
