Dear @MrSkypelessons, why in the first and third sentence the verb do/does is prefered over have/has?

About the first sentence: ‘I have more respect for Kepler than You HAVE’, or, ‘I have more respect for Kepler than you DO’; which is correct?

I have a brief question about the last sentence .....Can we ever leave out the last "it "....so that the sentence would become like this ..........The performance will be better this year than was last year ....?????

  • @gadgetslover9162
    @gadgetslover9162 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Why we can't say "the performance will be better this year than last year was?"
    Please.

    Dear teacher,
It makes me confused as I don't know which part of the sentence should be paralleled.
    For example :
" I have more respect for Kepler than for you'"
    or
" I have more respect for Kepler than I have more respect for you'"
I don't know when I use for Kepler than for you' , or when I use complete clause to use correct form of parallelism.
I have this problem not only in comparative but also in coordination,Correlative.
    Another example from your video:
"Whether we decide to go or to stay makes no difference."
    or
"Whether we decide to go or whether we decide to stay makes no difference."
    or
"Whether we decide to go or we decide to stay makes no difference."
I don't know which part have to join in parallelism. :((
