I was lucky enough to see Cardiacs over 50 times. This is a perfect representation. Great days, sad end 😢
lucky you my brother.......best band that ever was.
Super lucky! I never even knew about them until early 2022, and they stopped making music before I was born... Huge fan, though!
Absolutely and magnificently brilliant. For those who will say they are sad that Cardiacs were not more widely acclaimed, keep in mind that art like this is so unique it frightens most people.
Just like IQ and EQ, I think there is a "musical quotient" that can describe an individual's ability to process and appreciate varying levels of complexity in music. Beyond that, there's still musical taste.
@@gimmedataids Ah, someone who appreciates Cardiacs and Melvins. I'm not alone after all! I wish people appreciated creative music more; its supposed to be part of the arts and art isn't supposed to be predictable or easy to digest. The more the variety in music and art the better. We need more Cardiacs, Melvins, Zappas etc in the world.
Sadly i missed that one and it was just fifteen miles down the road. My son died five days before it, i lost my job, then my car was stolen shortly after and my partner had a brain haemmorhage. I drowned my grief in amphetamines etc for a few years after that. Before then, i'd been all over UK to see Cardiacs and the first Charabangalang in Holland. Marquee on Wardour Street in 1984 was my first Cardiacs gig. I did eventually start going to gigs again, but nothing beat the gigs of the 1980s and 90s. I must have seen them live more than a hundred times in total and I met Tim several times. Cardiacs are nearly always playing in my head.
Then about ten years before that gig, i went to that venue to see Balaam and the Angel and to meet a pen friend for the first time. I'd found her rail pass in Northampton. Due to mutual shyness, it wasn't a good meeting, but i gave her a lift home after the gig. However, we never got to her house. She was confused about directions and kept telling me the wrong way hence it appeared i was swerving over the road. I got pulled by police, breathalysed and was positive on the road. I was held at the station for a while, but on their big machine i was negative. I think the girl must have walked the rest of the way home. I never had any contact with her again. Nothing whatsoever to do with Cardiacs, but i just had to go over that old memory.
So sorry to hear this. I hope you're doing well these days. No father should ever have to endure such pain. I hope your partner is also okay. The upcoming gig in May might be just the thing you need. I'll be there 🙂
@@anormalsizedmanandanapartm1876 Thanks for your kind words. Not sure why i risked bringing everyone down with my depressing comment. It just brought back the menories, good and bad. Since those unfortunate incidents in the 1990s, partner was never quite the same, but did recover somewhat. Learnt to walk and talk again.
As for May, i most likely wont make the trip over to the UK as i have to visit in June for my daughter's wedding. But who knows what will change between now and then. I might see you there yet.
@@loosefish5246 you'll have a warm welcome even if you're not coming for a gig.
Duuude... what a heartbreaking course of events....😢 Cardiacs forever🌈 ❤
DR TIM SMITH IS GOD. FULL STOP.
#PRAISEHIM
Jesus, that version of In A City Lining. Extraordinary.
Sad that its over.
It, as in live entertainment, local scenes, high art? Yep.
Hey Mike. Sending love whilst going down memory lane xxxx
Oh this is great!
The lost band of the 90's
Never seen Tim sing without a guitar before!
Man alive! What a great show! Thank you for sharing! Any more treats of this nature would be greatly appreciated.
The smile of the good man ❤
Incredible. I played in a band in the late 80s/ early 90's. My band mates had the musical maturity (we were in our late teens) to love this band. I've never really listened to them until seeing this video. Ha ha now I absolutely love it!
Thank you for doing the God's Work.
This does a great job of reminding us what an incredibly powerful live band they were. I'd actually hurt after Cardiacs gigs. But it was always a wonderful hurt. The best. X
Pure gold. Thank you!
Oh brilliant gig. Bellyeye too! Love Icky Qualms with Jon on drums. It looks like Bob is stepping forward to go into blistering vocals but just stands there😂 love it.
What presence! One cannot just listen to them, they are compelling viewing. Surely a completely brilliantly unique band.
fuckin' hell.... you've kept this secret for close to 30 years..... thx for sharing.
cheers,
kev
Hey..they played my song😂 thanks for the upload ,great gig, the moments between Tim and Jim😢
@@dee_seejay ya have em on playlist, it's a wide net
Mr Chapman, you are a wonderful man for sharing such a magnificent treasure. Whilst inevitably tinged with sadness, watching this transported me to another time and filled me with deep joy and gratitude to have experienced many such gigs first hand. How lucky we have been! X❤
I had no idea they blessed Milton Keynes with their presence 😮
The finest live experience ive ever seen, and we saw them a fair few times. What a set list at this gig. RIP Tim and Tim xx
A big thank you. And no freezing😅. The copies were unwatchable. Let's have more please?
Absolutely lovely and fervent performance, cannot thank you enough for sharing this.
I saw them on this tour at the Sugar Mill in Hanley, Stoke-on-Tent, when alternative music still was!
Glorious.
Thank You!!!! 🤗
It's not often a mere pondie finds the beloved Cardiacs sitting in their local pub, but that happened to me on that day. Totally surreal :) (They had their pre-gig beer in the The Cricketers in Oldbrook, which was just across a cricket pitch from my flat)
Thanks very much for sharing this video.
Great show, great setlist...thanks for uploading
Fookin mental. Thanks
GRAZIE!
Ah brilliant. I’m sure I’ve seen the first few tracks of this online.
thanks for the treats!!
God bless you for making this available
The segue of in a city lining into is this the life. Even now, all these years after I spun Little Man for the first time in 88...
FUCKING GOOSEBUMPS and UTTER JOY
Thank you for loading this Mr Michael.
Oh shit this was an unexpected joy to find!!! I was at this gig. Thank you for posting this and bringing a ton of memories gushing back!
Now that version of Bell Clinks 😮
Ojalá los pudiera haber visto ..❤❤❤
I can't wait to watch this

And what are the two telephone boxes about at the end of the video?
fuck I miss the pond
What does Jon Daniels 300 gig mean
I think Jon Daniel(s?) Is their sound guy/lights guy
Not really sure
@@shiki_fa14who knows, thank you
It was the 300th Cardiacs gig that Jon Daniel attended. He was part of their management team.
