Thankyou K u have given me some ideas,I could maybe use Neon 1 as backgrounds in my Lulu Mayo books with an alcohol blender n stay away from water mediums ❤

That was really helpful K. The brilliant results you get show how valuable forward planning is. I tend to think more about colours but really that should come after working out the best mediums for the paper. I bought some gesso but have never used it but I like the idea of being free to use whatever I like. I have ordered a couple of items - I’ve been going backwards and forwards to Amazon whilst watching! With your thought processes it must mean that all your various mediums are used, not just a few favourites. It’s surprising the different things you can use in one page and come up with a really coherent picture. I’ll probably watch again as I have ‘brain fog’ and cognitive problems because of ME but I get there in the end and manage to remember what I need to eventually. I shall certainly be looking at my chosen page a lot more critically before I start to colour it. Thank you for taking the time out to make this video, it is going to help me a lot🎨😊

Just FYI the US Mayo paper will take watercolor pencils just fine. In fact it's the only thing I use in mine other than some pen for accents. I don't care for any pencil alone in it, for some reason they just won't blend/cover to my satisfaction. I've tried every brand I had, and was about to rehome all my Mayo books until I tried the wc pencils. I've never tried straight wc paint, but I think it would be ok other than the warping, because I've used watercolor pencil straight off the tip (lick technique) without an issue. So if you want to use watercolor, try getting your hands on a US edition. Not sure if you don't have the better deal though, since dry pencil seems to do great in yours.

Probably supposed to use a pastel fixative but I don’t often do, I just put some tracing paper between the pages to be honest and it seems fine
