  • As rent prices skyrocket in the San Francisco Bay Area, these two friends found a unique solution. Suzanne built an ADU so her best friend Shelley could continue to live in Redwood City.

This video will be controversial, because a lot of people are going to say $400,000 is too much for an ADU, even in the very expensive Bay Area. But I'd encourage you to watch the whole interview because they explain step by step what they've gotten for their money, and how it was the right decision for them.
Suzanne wanted certainty, reliability, speed, and quality -- and she wanted to create a really wonderful place where her best friend would live.
I admire the homeowners and the project. And if you're in a position like them, you should feel proud of the choices you make with your money. Especially if you're creating a home for somebody you care about!
Stan Acton will also be hosting a FREE event called "Building ADUs in Redwood City" on May 20th www.eventbrite...

Acton ADU has a cool map that shows its service area ranging from San Mateo all the way down to Los Gatos and Morgan Hill and all the way up to Alamo.

409k is the price you pay for convenience. My adu is 700 sqft 2/1 and cost around 70k for the construction part and 10k for fees and permits. The most expensive part was the kitchen which I spent 10k for customer cabinets and new appliances

Way to go! Yeah, I love doing these customer testimonials because some people will watch this and decide to go it alone while others watch this and say "they seem VERY happy with their decision"!

      Hi Eric,
Quick question. Can you refer to a plan on how to get the 70k Adu pricing etc…..
      Thank you in advance!

My ADU conversion cost me about $45K. Of course, that's only because I designed it and built it myself. I am now also building a Junior ADU. I'm in the West San Fernando Valley area...

Omg! Over $400k! I’m originally from San Mateo and couldn’t make it. I’m in Central Valley and building a garage conversation with an addition 612 sqft and will be $125k. So far my contractor is doing a good job. Good luck to everyone!

South Bay is like another planet these days, right? I'm glad you're finding a way to make it work in the Central Valley.

Garage conversion with 600+ addition for 125k? 😮 hard to believe

It’s a garage conversation and we knocked out the back wall and extended it so that it’s a total of 612sqft. It should be complete by June 2023! I’m planning to list it on Furnished Finder. It’s a complete unit, not a studio. Good luck to everyone!

If you are ready to pay two times what things cost, you can get this kind of great experience.

That’s why I like homeowner interviews. They’re happy with the service, results and price. I still haven’t met somebody who will build me an ADU in Redwood City for less than $250k all in. If they introduce me to a client, I’ll put them on the channel for free.

500 sf Adu should be 175k
