    That studio version was pretty damn good, too. I like the little additions the guitarist was doing, and I like the drummers vocal harmonies that I didn't notice in the music video. It's also nice to know that all this high quality musicianship isn't just a result of Pro Tools.

    It’s probably been said, but that drum fill near the end right before “help me become…” (you paused on it several times, rightly referring to it as “sick” 😃) was done primarily with her feet with double bass pedals. Right hand is alternating in quarter notes between two cymbals and left hand just straight up quarter more strikes on the snare. And perfectly executed, perfectly timed 16th notes with her feet (which is hard enough to do with your hands at that tempo, never mind with two other limbs doing different things throughout the fill). Of course there are plenty of other high-end drummers who could do this, and maybe even as tightly as she did it, but this is the kind of thing that puts her in a class with the elite drummers out there. And something that makes her special (to me, anyway) is that she doesn’t show this stuff off often. She’s not a circus act drummer, she’s about doing what’s appropriate musically.

    • @DancingCoder
      @DancingCoder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Love this explanation. Spot on. She is incredibly skilled and her timing is perfect. It's no easy feat (excuse the pun) keeping two feet and arms coordinated so well. I learnt the drums in school and I struggled so much with the feet and arms coordination a lot!

    • @longcastle4863
      @longcastle4863 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pau may start a lot of the songs currently but to say she writes 75% is incorrect. The songs get worked out by all three together and as they have said - including Pau - it is fully as collaborative effort. The Warning is also a heavily riff driven band and those riffs are mostly worked out by Dany -- and with Ale also contributing on the bass lines. So no Pau is not writing 75 % of the songs.

    • @morthnadic1
      @morthnadic1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@longcastle4863
      The drummer Pau writes around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal melody and harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many.

    Great reaction. I had to chuckle at your stereo comment. People don't realize how mono-track music is today, compared to music of the late 60's and early 70's. I would occasionally troubleshoot PA equipment with my old-school music and would often find that the system was playing only right or left channel but not both. With current music, you could hardly tell, but drop in some Santana and it was like," where'd Santana go?"..lol

It’s not new. Imagine how confused people now would be if they listened to older music, when I hey didn’t have as many tracks in the studio or when they had to have some sound in one ear and the rest in the other, I think the Beatles song taxman is one example--that would probably blow peoples minds 😂😂

      @@DancingCoder You're welcome. And I too love the Drummer. If you want to see her go nuts on the drums, you need to do the other two songs they did at that TED X thing where you did "When I'm alone" ........The other two songs are "Survive" and "Unmendable" You really get a great look at the Drummer in those two songs (and how she deals with a broken stick like a pro)
