Insider Review - Santa Marta MARRIOTT Resort Playa Dormida ( Oceanfront Suite Tour and Review)

- We arrive in Santa Marta, Colombia to stay at the Santa Marta Playa Dormida Marriott Resort. We had planned a 2 night stay paying only $141 per night. Before we arrived, we got upgraded to the Oceanfront 1 Bedroom Suite, which are the best on the property. Fully equipped with 2 restaurants, gym, swimming pool and spa. It was such a great 2 night stay.
There were a few things that could potentially make the stay even better.
1. Since it was so far away from everything, they should have a shuttle that can take you downtown or a mall of sorts.
2. The TV is huge and great, but it would have been nice that it can swivel so that we can double up viewing in the bedroom and living room.
3. The TV and WIFI were both very spotty and was unusable.
Nonetheless, the space was absolutely stunning and we had a balcony to DIE FOR. Highly recommended for that relaxing Colombian experience.

We started our trip back in April 2, 2019 from New York City. We quit our 9-6 jobs, sold all of our belongings, and began traveling full time. We left our jobs because we were unable to be with family and enjoy life. Work was taking up too much time and something had to change. We saved up for 2 years and began traveling as soon as we found a deal that would take us around the world for just $285.00. We started this #travelvlog to share our adventures with friends and family. At the one year mark, we realized that we had only scratched the surface and there was still so much to see. Thanks for all your support you guys! We did spend a lot of time on the balcony, but remember, it was REALLY REALLY hot. So we were pretty much barbecuing the entire time haha. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi in the evening which was super nice. Really amazing way to see the sunset!

Interesting fact, the building was going to become part of some beach condos call Playa Dormida 2. That’s why the rooms are so big and spacious

No wonder the Condominium complex beside the hotel looks so similar in terms of building design. Now that make sense that the hotel was actually a beach condo license to Marriott..

About how much a night the room
One night is $141 USD for the basic room, but we got the upgrade and the room would have cost over $400 USD.
