- As outrage spreads over the killing of George Floyd in the US, protesters have taken to the streets around the world. The protests were called in solidarity with America's Black Lives Matter movement, but the protesters are also highlighting racism and police brutality in their own countries -- with Australians hitting the streets in especially large numbers. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in London, despite calls from politicians not to defy the lockdown there because of the COVID pandemic. Authorities have had to close roads around Parliament Square and are urging demonstrators to maintain physical distancing measures. And a major European protest is also underway in Berlin.

Recently, all of the world was hit by the coronavirus.
And we recently saw great injustice happening in the US.
Racism, that was always seen and heard of, but hidden and unresolved.
I really wanted to promote in my own way to stop racism in stead of protesting

Whenever I watch these demonstrations I feel so full of hope for the world and humanity. Even in these dark times it is incredibly moving to see people of so many colors and nationalities so united. Its absolutely beautiful.
If Germans speak English how come schools in the US don't teach German but instead french, french is not an important language. Germany is a big country for technology and knowing German can mean alot when looking for good jobs.
German is a very very very hard language. Our grammar is fancy but it is just very difficult to learn... (We have der die das instead of just the).
French is more useful than German. More people speak French in the world than German.

Schools teach German in the US as an elective, too. It depends if the school has access to the language teacher. Other languages are taught in the US, too.

I support equality among races but I think I know why this particular case is so on the rage now even though racism issue has been ongoing for decades. Part of it contributed by COVID. People are unemployed, trapped with nothing to do at home with too much time on hand. Some are even taking advantage of looting. I am sorry to say not all are really out for a noble cause.

200 thousand or more have protested with minor violence. To me, some of it was justified. We watch the French burn stuff down regularly but never talk bad about them because we get the motivation.
Long term, violence is not a strategy but when a State sanctions and protects violence locally, nationally and globally like the US; I understand a violent reaction. I see it as a warning; no one wants to go down that route but the State needs to stop treating citizens like the enemy.

Racism in Germany: Definetly yes, but in a polite way most of the time. Kindergarten teachers, government building responsibles, school teachers etc. should be observed very carefully.
