Thanks Claus, excellent tip for in the car, a definite alternative to the chemical hand/foot warmers that are available now too. very much so if there is more than one in the car.... lol also provides light to read or play games, so pack a deck of cards too. I liked the fire the first time, can't believe I watched again. For people that haven't seen the new year's vid... go watch it the jambalaya, Claus cooks on that very fire, it looks amazingly delicious. As always have the bestest most wonderfulest awesome day possible!!
The instant you suggested sleeping in the car with the candle, I imagined you waking up with your blanket and hair on fire and leaping out and frantically rolling around in the snow to put out the flames. Hilarious 😂
Well done Claus and a good lesson on basic behavior, one should know in case of problems... !! And is nice to watch, peace man, like I'm doing the campfire...
Wow you learn something everyday. I remember people telling that you need a candle in the car in case you get stuck in snow. You melt snow with snow? No, this makes much more sense
Great video Claus! After watching your first video I went and added candles to all our "bags" in our vehicles. Along with a lighter, knife, multitool, blanket, and other items you can use for safety in an emergency.
Nice tip - I have an Outback Wilderness and a couple candles are going right in! For those without the Subie candle holders, a couple drops of wax to set the base in most cupholders should work just fine.
Hey Claus, I’m really enjoying this new direction of content. LARPing as yourself IRL sharing your old man tricks is really entertaining. I used to watch your WoT channel but I got over the game. WP GG EZ
Some birch bark or a similar tree's bark makes good fire starting material if it is in your area. An abandoned bird's nest works also. Just a couple of things. The candle is always useful for fire starting. I never knew about the candle holder in the Subaru. This could also be used for cheap dates with fast food and a soft drink.
Great video Claus. Would you walk through your emergency kit in the car? I usually have the shovel, blanket, first aid kit, jumper cables and a battery charger. Can't wait for the fishing videos.
You can melt wax and dip cotton makeup discs into it to make fire starters as well. Same thing as the candle but you light it and don’t have to hold it
A trick I use is get a bunch of tea lights with those metal cups and put them in a frying pan, heat them until they’re liquid then drop in a cotton wool ball into each one. Let them soak up the wax then let them cool. Once solid those balls will burn furiously when introduced to a flame
I've carried a winter survival kit for years, including some candles. On hint--if you don't have convenient place to set the candle in your car, just carry an empty, clean tin soup can. Something that is easy to carry to start a fire is some old newspaper and some strips of dry cardboard. Neither takes a lot of space. The newspaper lights easily, but burns quickly, but it will get the cardboard burning and the cardboard can burn long enough to the twigs and kindling going.
Hi From Belle to Claus I learned from a friend who worked in search and rescue to carry cotton balls that have been covered in petroleum jelly to use as fire starters. The petroleum jelly will burn when placed into a cotton ball. I would also suggest a coffee tin for the candle to stand in, if your cup holder does not have the handy hole like your outback. With the coffee can you can set the candle in a location that you might not knock over
Dudley Do-right of the RCMP comes riding up on his trusty steed "Horse" and says: "Citizen, I saw your distress fire. Are you in need of assistance?" Claus replies: "No, I am signaling other Subaru owners for our annual winter gathering. They are scattered around the forest just waiting for a sign to converge on this location."
I say we take a vote. Who wants Claus to start a bushman channel or better yet he sells his remodeled big house and buys land and does the homestead life?
Are those authentic Subaru candles? They were not an option when I bought my Scooby-Doo. Perhaps only available in the Great White North. Coo Lou coo coo
My Subaru Crosstrek Sport doesn't have that hole in the cup holder. Luckily I live in an area that rarely gets below 30 degrees fahrenheit and lets have everyone in the World agree to get rid of the Metric system!
13:13 The Indians again are wondering what all the commotion over in Claus' World was about! 🤪 But, joking aside; a very good tip. And it is not only compatible with Subaru vehicles. Any make and model will do in a pinch!
I keep a back pack in my truck with change of clothes, medic kit, 2 weeks of MRE's, water proof matches, flashlight, water filter and condoms. Because you never know what a wrong turn can bring.
Safe travels everyone!

I hope you’re getting paid by Subaru for this top class content.
I clean any grease out of my pans with a paper towel. Then I bag it. Those paper towels are great fire starters.
Yeah and that greasy paper can help start ur next fire 🔥 if you don’t find burch bark (do you have burch trees out west?)
@@benji4840 I live in Alabama. The best natural Firestarter is pine cones, depending where you are at.
@ I visited Alabama for the first time recently, it was great people are so nice. Waffle house is awesome too! The lady was so nice to me.

🤣🤣🤣
Same, I'd definitely catch myself on fire. I'd have to stay awake the whole time so I don't burn or freeze to death 😂
Lmao. Now I can't get that scenario out of my head. Ordering a fire retardant blanket off Amazon as I watch this

nice. better safe than sorry
Besides a candle maybe pack a store quick-start fireplace log for aiding those wet-wood fire starts.
those little fire started packs are good for outside but the candle is best for inside car.
@@clauskellermanpov3004 Well inside the car the quick start will heat up the car very fast.......hahahaha.... (note: don't be inside the car....)

Smart solution!
Thank you for this video. Great ideas!
You are so welcome!
Here we are treated to a Bushman Class by Claus with the soothing background sounds of a campfire. Best way to start a Friday!
TGIF!
So much for the expression "can't hold a candle to it".
good one
Great real life stuff! Subscribed, I liked your presentation as well.
Thank you!
Thanks for the info Claus. Fixing to drive through your beautiful country on the way to Alaska! Hopefully the roads are all good.
Beautiful highway all the way up. Can be tricky in the winter.
Trying to make it to Calgary before night. Maybe even Edmonton
Love ur outdoor videos Claus, best regards from Poland
Thank you very much!
Love this channel i used to watch wot videos when i was in Europe, now I’m currently in Ontario.
Ontario's a great place for adventures!

@@clauskellermanpov3004 i'd like to see a video showing the temp inside vs outside with that candle. co2 meter...
Thnx Claus 👍🏼

can we do the four candles thing?
sure
You know what works way better than a candle for starting a fire Pvc glue😮
can you burn Pvc glue to keep warm in your car?
@clauskellermanpov3004 You sure can it just won't end that pretty
Also might add carry a basic medical kit it comes in handy too
yes
Was active amatur radio opp back in texas days never know what can happen or see
Good video holmes.
thanks
Great place to chill and live away from the city and daily grind 💪
You got that right!
Wonder what you think about the towing capacity of the Crosstrek Wilderness. Wondering it I should trust it with a 2000lbs tent trailer.
I had no problem towing with my Outback. Watch my towing a trailer across the rocky mountains video.
Great Video. Next Video to show how to take a crap without freezing important parts off?
Great suggestion!
Subaru needs to make a wilderness version of the Wrx.
I would buy that!
Fire skill increased by +1, new perk available 😂
Confirmed

Home Depot: That will be $85.22 for the lumber, son.
Honey I found a new way of making fish! Let's smoke it over a candle in claus' car!
good idea
If I keep candles in my car down here in LA, they’d be wax puddles in a matter of minutes 😅
Stay safe down there buddy. Hope everything is ok for you in LA.
Claus, I have the same Ray-ban sunglasses
Mine are Maui Jim!
Remember to take the candles out of the car when spring comes or youre gonna be in for a nasty surprise :P
Yes. They are in a plastic bag. But they could melt in the summer!
Generally speaking I prefer a wet bush , but to each their own.
Never under estimate a dry bush.
Awesome Clausss
thanks
Toronto is still here. WoT needs a Toronto map
good idea
TH-cam is getting a lot better. I could smell the smoke from the vents next to the speakers.
nice!

If it hadn't of been New Years, I'd of chosen the candle in the car. You needed to fire, to get warm and dry from lighting it :)
yes
Worse case you break down middle of nowhere.. ❤

@@clauskellermanpov3004 Okay, I'll give you that one Sir!

Lambo?
Interesting. A human generate heat equivalent to 100W. A candle does 80W. So 180W heat is generated. I do not know, but perhaps that is sufficient.
The stuffing from that shirt would have made a stronger fire
good point!

Well, that's the thing about "emergencies". You never know.
