No matter what the incarnation or the era...Jazz will forever be eternally awesome. One of the greatest Transformers if all time. When I went to Comic-Con a few years ago, I had the chance to meet Phil La Marr (who voiced Jazz in Animated). Needless to say, it was a cool experience. And I told him his voice-work was worthy of the late, great Scatman Crothers. Phil told me that for the first auditions, he did an impersonation of Scatman, and the producers immediately said, “No! Just do it like Phil La Marr would!” And the result worked. La Marr’s voice work was distinctive and just as cool for Jazz.

Live Action: One of the three key things I would change in the 2007 movie is which Autobot died. The death of Jazz was pathetic and he would frankly have been a more cautious and shrewd fighter. I would rather it have been Ironhide who almost matched Megatron in battle till the Decepticon resorted to his twin arm blast.
Jazz has become one of my favorite characters from Transformers. I understand why he died (in a sense) for the 2007 movie, but I wish he could have been in the final battle a bit longer. Though Mirage is cool, I still personally think Jazz would have been a better choice for Rise of the Beasts. I hope we get to see him again soon in live-action.

Characterization: G1, of course. The thing with Jazz & Cliffjumper was their voice actors; Casey Kasem quit because he didn't like the stereotypical portrayal of Arabic people in the show. Scatman Crothers died somewhere between the end of production of the movie and the start of production of season 3; it's why he's *seen*, but doesn't say anything. Animated Jazz is a close second, pretty much THE best characterization on screen outside of G1. And QUITTING the Elite Guard!? Damn, they should've let Animated go for another season or two!! Toy: The Reveal the Shield "Special Ops" Jazz is by far my favorite. Granted, there's a couple of missed cues: NO shoulder rocket launcher, the Prowl style door wings, and then NO retooling for Stepper/Ricochet (the Takara exclusive via Million Publishing) to have a 5mm port in vehicle mode for Nightstick to actually be useful there, but, it's still THE BEST modern interpretation of a G1 Jazz. And MPM9 could be a favorite for fans of previous Movie Jazz figures due to its...ability. 😏😏😏😏😏
The demise of Animated still lingers as one of the worst decisions Hasbro has made in recent memory. Hell, if they were somehow able to get a deal with Cartoon Network, or were able to get a new, consistent team to animate it, the show could have been what they used to jumpstart the launch of The Hub.
It's ya boi! Edit: If I hear "cosmically powered Starscream" I'm gonna flip out 🤣🤣🤣 Edit 2: !!! Cyberverse Jazz is gonna be awesome! Cyberverse is pretty entertaining so far so I'm sure Jazz will add a lot of fun to the show.
@@slave7022 that's pretty true. How are you enjoying the show so far? Tbh, it's getting much more of my involvement and emotion then I thought it would 🤣
I think the reason jazz has never really changed in any way is because he's set to his name. When you have a bot with the name 'Jazz' it kinda sets up his character as a music lover. Unlike a bot like cliffjumper, swindle or sideswipe
I'm surprised you didn't mention the brief time Hasbro lost rights to the name Jazz. I have they Alternators toy where they had to call him Meister. Then there was a time they had to call him Autobot Jazz before they could go back to just calling him Jazz.
Scatman was awesome, always read the comics in his voice but it took me a while to get used to him doing Jazz at first due to all of those Hong Kong Phooey episodes he also provided the voice for.
Jazz is honestly one of my favorite transformers I’m always sad that he’s not really relevant in a lot of shows. Def wish him being Optimus’ best friend was a more common thing
Great Stuff as always. Your work is always _reliably_ kind, conscientious, thorough and (because of your voice, enthusiasm, understanding and appreciation of the material) highly re-watchable. Please keep up the good work on this platform which is not the kind of place you’d find such decency normally. This channel is definitely on a short list of sane TH-cam content. So far so good! Jazz was hard to come by as a kid, and as a favorite he was a poor choice to be killed off in such a manner in the 2007 film _(just another reason to avoid politics in children’s content. Edit: and if anyone asks just consider Skids and Mudflap in the follow-up film. Those are terrible optics)._ When I was personally going through a rough patch I deeply desired the Human Alliance action figure of Jazz based on the film as it was the most screen accurate version at the time. I’m glad (that despite being the smallest) Hasbro managed to keep and update some of the most essential aspects of this character’s design. I couldn’t manage a collection at this time, but once I get the chance Jazz will definitely be on one of my shelves, among others. Great Stuff, _as always._
6:31 that would explain why he appeared in transformers 2 but only in the video as a dlc only but maybe hopefully in transformers 6 I hope the surviving autobots can used the all sparks to revive all the defeated autobots that fought there best to succeed we hope they will revive them
Ahh! I’ve been waiting for this episode! Jazz is one of my favorite Autobots alongside Cliffjumper. Didn’t know about that mission in Fall of Cybertron. But knowing that exists makes me extremely happy! Funny how Jazz became one of my favorites despite my introduction to the franchise being the 1986 movie when I was a tiny child. (funnily enough, also working alongside Cliffjumper.) But his voice and way of talking always stuck out in my mind. And when I subsequently watched the G1 Cartoon, I really enjoyed the way he obsessed over Earth Culture. Maybe I’m projecting a bit. But I have asperger’s syndrome. A type of autism. And his obsession with Earth reminds me of how I hyper obsess over things I like. It’s relatable. I’m always happy to see him make a return, and if I ever find an original G1 toy of him, I just might completely freak out.
Characters such as Jazz are the reason why I wish Transformers Animated had a season 4. Maybe one day there could be a revival or a fan project, but I don't see that coming any time soon. He deserved so much better, and he deserved to have that character arc come to fruition, especially after watching Prowl sacrifice himself to save Detroit and defeat Megatron. After all, Jazz IS technically a teacher in the Animated franchise because he had to train the twins and then helped Prowl finish his training. Something hitting hard like that probably would have been the final reason to leave the Elite Guard.
My absolute favourite Transformers character; hell he was the basis for my screen-name. I would have to say the Bayverse design is my favourite; the silver version of the animated one is great as well. Looking at your video and seeing the FOC toy; I hope they remake that into a Siege form.

Jazz may have died early but he got something none of the other autobots from the first movie got: a respectable death. Ironhide? Shot in the back by Sentinel Ratchet? Hunted by humans and killed by lockdown Optimus? Stabbed in the back by Megatron (granted this was after basically winning a 3 on 1 fight) Jazz on the other hand? He had the balls to fight Megatron *alone*! Megatron was like 3, maybe even 4 times his size; the only other Autobot with the balls to fight Megatron alone was Optimus and he was twice Jazz's size! A bad ass through and through
@@twistedgaming9185 It was interesting to find out that millions of years before human race was born Jazz already had his slang, he didn't copy human culture, human culture copied him.
I wonder why the position of his wheels in robot mode can never be agreed on. Wheels on top of his shoulders or wheels behind his shoulders? If Mirage and Trailbreaker get Official Masterpiece treatment, I wonder what could be done to force Porsche's hand to allow the 1984 Masterpiece Autobot Cars to be completed.

Hell, if they were somehow able to get a deal with Cartoon Network, or were able to get a new, consistent team to animate it, the show could have been what they used to jumpstart the launch of The Hub.
Wait... What's the "ability"?
Jazz was not in cyberverse but he was mentioned in the episode wild wild wheel as a cameo
It's ya boi!
Edit: If I hear "cosmically powered Starscream" I'm gonna flip out 🤣🤣🤣
Edit 2: !!! Cyberverse Jazz is gonna be awesome! Cyberverse is pretty entertaining so far so I'm sure Jazz will add a lot of fun to the show.
Carrie Thomas COSMIC POWERED STARSCREAM .
@@shadowclaw7210 I DID A FLIP BECAUSE OF YOU!
Carrie Thomas You’re welcome Buddy
Is cyberverse, Starcream got pretty close to being "cosmically powerd".
That’s why I liked him like I always say stay cool jazz.
I really enjoyed the Animated version. Phil Lamarr really did a good on that role.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the brief time Hasbro lost rights to the name Jazz. I have they Alternators toy where they had to call him Meister. Then there was a time they had to call him Autobot Jazz before they could go back to just calling him Jazz.
6:18: and he was voiced by Darius McCrary (Eddie Winslow from Family Matters)
You had the perfect chance to say "you like jazz?" And you through it away
Animated and FOC Jazz are my favourites by a mile.
Scatman was awesome, always read the comics in his voice but it took me a while to get used to him doing Jazz at first due to all of those Hong Kong Phooey episodes he also provided the voice for.
Jazz was one of my favorites as a kid watching early G1. I always thought he was cool so they did their job there lol.
jazz was not featured in cyberverse ,but he was mentioned by the autobot wild wheel
Please do these in the future
Whirl
Hot rod
Brainstorm
Pipes
Skids
Waspinator
And roadbuster
And Wheelie and Blurr
@@luvblueybingoheeler3150 Please not wheelie
I wonder how many of these were offlined by a cosmically powered Starscream
Elesh Lee whirl and roadbuster weren’t they never showed up in Marvel US
Jazz is honestly one of my favorite transformers I’m always sad that he’s not really relevant in a lot of shows. Def wish him being Optimus’ best friend was a more common thing
Ya my favorite he’s finally here what took so long
I like the idea Jazz is both stylish and fun lover AND a responsible lieutenant for Optimus Prime.
Kinda like work hard, play hard kind of character.
Jazz got ripped a new one, by optimus having only said 'awh, jazz' after his death. Im sure he feels th9se words on his way the the allspark
Young autobot:uh... optimus?
Optimus:yes young one
Young autobot:who was starscream?
Optimus:(Vietnam flashback)
Keyan Carlile has you covered, for 4 episodes so far.
My absolute favourite Transformers character; hell he was the basis for my screen-name.
I would have to say the Bayverse design is my favourite; the silver version of the animated one is great as well.
Looking at your video and seeing the FOC toy; I hope they remake that into a Siege form.
Agree but it was strange to see Jazz smaller than Bumblebee.
Unfortunately i thi seige is over. Now its earthrise and back to earthmodes, so if they do make a jazz hell probably be a lot closer to his G1 version
@@Hektols The Pontiac Solstice is a really tiny car, turns out.
I like that in Fall of Cybertron they kept his grappling hook from G1
Jazz: “You want a piece of me?!”
Megatron: “No, I want 2!”
God I love this channel, I love the TRANSFORMERS, BACK in 1985 86 , 5 of us right after high school we would walk right to our friends house 20 min walk, on our way there we were preparing go there and watch tv, first THUNDERCATS then I G.I. JOE. HE-MAN THEN OUR FAVORITE TRANSFORMERS WE Loved it. We diidnt care if it was a rerun. So for almost 2 school years we did this. They great times.....miss them
I'm surprise you didn't mention his grapling hook.
Animated Jazz is my favorite. Voiced by Phil Lamar and he had nunchucks. Kinda had a Black Belt Jones vide!
Jazz may have died early but he got something none of the other autobots from the first movie got: a respectable death.
Ironhide? Shot in the back by Sentinel
Ratchet? Hunted by humans and killed by lockdown
Optimus? Stabbed in the back by Megatron (granted this was after basically winning a 3 on 1 fight)
Jazz on the other hand? He had the balls to fight Megatron *alone*! Megatron was like 3, maybe even 4 times his size; the only other Autobot with the balls to fight Megatron alone was Optimus and he was twice Jazz's size! A bad ass through and through
Jazz will always be my favorite Transformers and the only bot(besides Magnus and Prowl) to be worthy of the title Autobot Second in Command!
2:06 my man just shat out a gun
Jazz is a really cool Autobot, Scatman is a fine voice actor for Jazz and as the Leader of the Harlem Globetrotters, Meadowlark.
Original series and figure wise RTS Spec-Ops Deluxe class!
it's always excellent to see the coolest bot around, and when Jazz appears it's gonna be fun.
Who here likes transformers fall of cybertron jazz
Aye
I loved movie Jazz not only did we get one piece we got two.
@@GalacticHappyHour With Activision no longer having the Transformers game license, it's unlikely to continue.
@@twistedgaming9185 It was interesting to find out that millions of years before human race was born Jazz already had his slang, he didn't copy human culture, human culture copied him.
D.S Black I don’t appreciate this.
My favorite version of jazz and this is no surprise is generation 1 the original!
Trailbreaker already got one
Or *BE* his shoulders
abdiel miranda That’s third party, not masterpiece
I absolutely love jazz! Hes one of my all time favorites! Hes such a cool, chill, groovin, and smooth talkin dude! Love his design and personality! Just about every incarnation is phenomenal! G1 jazz is ICONIC, and I also love animated Jazz voices by the incredible legend Phil Lamarr! Such a damn good classic character! ❤😁👍🏻 :')
I love your videos so much, keep up the good work.
One of my favorites as a kid (but I was a bayverse child) when he got killed off so quick I went around and found his old versions. I think I owned like... 3 jazz figures I wish I didn’t loose them all
Okay but can we appreciate that Chris pronounced 'Nun-chakku' right?
Jazz was my first Transformer back in the day. Thank you for this.
3:28 ugh look at his face
Hes one of the few who never really changed. Im glad he's always had that "smooth criminal" kind of personality
