Jim Morrison An American Prayer extended

- Do you know the warm progress
under the stars?
Do you know we exist?
Have you forgotten the keys
to the kingdom
Have you been borne yet
& are you alive?
Let's reinvent the gods, all teh myths
of the ages
Celebrate symbols from deep elder forests
[Have you forgotten the lessons
of the ancient war]
We need great golden copulations
The fathers are cackling in trees
of the forest
Our mother is dead in the sea
Do you know we are being led to
slaughters by placid admirals
& that fat slow generals are getting
obscene on young blood
Do you know we are ruled by T.V.
The moon is dry blood beast
Guerrilla bands are rolling numbers
in the next block of green vine
amassing for warfare on innocent
herdsman who are just dying
O great creator of being
grant us one more hour to
perform our art
& perfect our lives
The moths & atheists are doubly divine
& dying
We live, we die
& death not ends it
Journey we more into the
Nightmare
Cling to life
Our passion'd flower
Cling to Cunts & cocks
of despair
We got our final vision
by clap
Columbus groin got
filled w/green death
(I touched her thigh
& death smiled)
We have assembled inside this ancient
& insane theatre
To propagate our lust for life
& flee the swarming wisdom
of the streets
The barns are stormed
The windows kept
& only one of all the rest
To dance & save us
W/the divine mockery
of words
Music inflames temperament
(When the true King's murderers
are allowed to roam free
a 1000 Magicians arise in the land)
Where are the feasts
we are promised
Where is the wine
The New Wine
(dying on the vine)
resident mockery
give us an hour for magic
We of the purple glove
We of the starling flight
& velvet hour
We of arabic pleasures's breed
We of sundome & the night
Give us a creed
To believe
A nightr of lust
Give us trust in
The Night
Give of color
hundred hues
a rich mandala
for me & for you
& for your silky
pillowed house
a head, wisdom
& a bed
Troubled decree
Resident mockery
has claimed thee
We used to believe
in the good old days
We still receive
In little ways
The things of Kindness
& unsporting brow
Forget & allow
Did you know freedom exists
in school books
Did you know madmen are
running our prisons
w/in a jail, w/in a gaol
w/in a white free protestant
maelstrom
We're perched headlong
on the edge of boredom
We're reaching for death
on the end of a candle
We're trying for something
that's already found us
Wow, I'm sick of doubt
Live in the light of certain
south
Cruel bindings
The sevants have the power
dog-men & their mean women
pulling poor blankets over
our sailors
I'm sick of dour faces
Starong at me from the T.V.
Tower, I want roses in
my garden bower; dig?
Royal babies, rubies
must now replace aborted
Strangers in the mud
These mutants, blood-meal
for the plant that's plowed
they are waiting to take us into
the severed garden
Do you know how pale & wanton thrillful
comes death on a stranger hour
unannounced, unplanned for
like a scaring over-friendly guest you've
brought to bed
Death makes angels of us all
& gives us wings
where we had shoulders
smooth as raven's
claws
No more money, no more fancy dress
This other kingdom seems by far the best
until its other jaw reveals incest
& loose obedience to a vegetable law
I will not go
Prefer a feast of friends
To the Giant family - เพลง
The amount of views on this, especially for how long it's been up, breaks my heart. His poetry is SO underrated. Everyone knows "light my fire" and "break on through" but I don't personally know one person who knows his actual poetry. "Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as ravens claws" is my *favorite* line of all time, since I was ten years old. I've never heard a more beautiful line. I only wish I could have been alive in this Era and been able to appreciate bands like the Doors and Zeppelin in person, in their prime. They don't make music like that, anymore.
Not everyone listens to fine music and art on You Tube. Trust me there are dedicated followers everywhere.
I’ve read the ‘creatures’ and ‘wilderness’ - what I could get my hands on.... and rimbaud as well
I know because he changed my life.
Very cool guys n I apologized for my ridiculous ways thatht anger thank you if it wasn't for the music the poems thank heaven
"... but I don't personally know one person who knows his actual poetry." ... Now you know one ..... 'cause i know almost all his poems.
He already knew our today's reality, 50 years before !!!
"Do you know are ruled by TV?"
Jim was a prophet.
Even more now, 5 more months down the road... he could add the events of 2020 to the list. The song would be an hour long!
Yes the severed garden
Yes he did in alot of aspects of modern life.crazy
Yes...Jim Invented Rap and Spoken Word....He is Still the King of this type of Music
We live, we die & death not ends it. You're invincible and eternal, Jim, as you said.
Who's listening to this in 2021 and find this Amazing!!!?
ME
2023 🌚
Listening in 2022 and it has literally always been masterful
hold on.....boy
@@InstantDefense682 thanks to your comment I’m back here listening again - 😊
Probably my favorite work by The Doors, seriously beautiful!!
I have to admit, I was a fan when I was young, had all the albums, and then I bought this one. At first listen, I was dissappointed. Where were the songs?
But after a while it became my favourite album of the doors. It still lingers on even today.
first Doors record I bought.Got it in 78 when it came out.I was 13.still have that original copy.Love it,it inspired me to start writing and singing.
My favorite work by anyone. Billy Cobham is a close second but this takes the prize.
Are You G A Y ? ?
Agreed
This is the most inportent poem in modern history.
I concur
In trying to protect a muse in rivers, feels reverb_ berate and great mystic parties. Reveal opposing high times like modern untill it desperates only likeness. Rethink &- son fine wine is dead art doors only elwhere!
It’s currently on TikTok and that doesn’t mean anything to most but it means something to me. Same spring that thousands of student protesters are being arrested in America and that the app is at risk of being banned from use in America.
"I prefer a feast of friends to a giant family" this song changed my life
Damn right!
Hell 👍
He sold his Soul to the Devil
Indeed
This right here is what makes me sad Jim didn't live. He had much more to say and give. If he took his time off the right way, from the whole rock star thing he was no longer wanting, he had the ability to get his poetry out because of his fame...he could have done both...do the music when it was time to and his poetry, he had so many years to do so many things.. but we will never know what could have been...anyway thanks Jim and the doors for what you did give
I muse about this as well, for years and years
He said inaf....for another way
100% genuinely the best comment I have read on social media, much love and respect to you from rainy Ireland ❤❤❤🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Some candles burn brighter...and shorter bro
Just be happy we got him the time we did if he were born today he’d be lost
I have a worn out cassette of this. But the words are always fresh in my mind. Morrison is timeless!
They are indeed timeless. I was young and listening to them in the 60's, I am crazy about Jim and the rest as well, but esp. Jim. He is the poet! Love his words.
Used To be. Dead on now
I am holding one in my hand at this second as I listen
Jim is trying to tell us everything in this
Yeah I think he had said all he wanted to say and was ready to meet his death he sounds very mature for his age.
he's not trying at all he IS telling us. only some of us are simply failing to hear and see clearly. this must be how christ appeared to people ya know? deep sexy alien beautiful and dangerously alive. as well as hella misunderstood. fuckin' a.
"You know we are ruled by TV?" This song got me hooked to Morrison
Morrison is 2021...and forever!!
Jim is always actual. We need again him in this century. And ever.
Morrison was so ahead of his time. He got it. Thats why his class couldn't understand him while attending UCLA. This man is beyond
Still relevant nowadays what a masterpice💔
Jim Morrison is one of the angels
30 years later, and I still listen to this track like it was my first time hearing it on cassette . 😩 man, if I could go back to my 14 year old self and tell him what I know know …. But somethings haven’t changed 😉
Feel u ✌
yep
@@deskryptic same feelings
I guess writers and poets don't check out youtube! It is the only way I can reason that only 1,000 have taken the time to listen to this!!! Thanks for Honoring James Douglas Morrison!!! "We're perched headlong on the edge of boredom"
Try 273,000- plus! Ha, ha.
if you're still here it's closing in on a half a million. still far too few but way more than woulda listened in around eighty-two when i first heard this. way under the radar on this shit. at least in america.
Jim, in my opinion was generations beyond his time. A predecessor to genres and styles like punk & rap. His on stage freestyle, and discerning outlook on the world around him. A true literary pioneer.
It's 2024 and i am still listening 😍😎
I’m 44 and my father listened to the doors when I was young, I grew to be a hip hop head., I know now poetry if the foundation of great music.. real heartfelt, thought provoking, honest poetry. Rip king.
Those words mean so much especially during these times, despairingly beautiful, the words resonate more now than ever before.
All the feelings in one masterpiece.
Thank you Jim.
Your soul is too beautiful.
Such beautiful poetry! I wish Jim could know how much his poetry and the music he made with Ray, John and Robby means to so many!
"Do you know we are ruled by tv"
Actual more than ever..the time has come again
B r i l l i a n t ! ! ! Tremendous depth and wisdom from the great Jim Morrison completed with haunting music by The Doors. The Doors confessed of a very strong sense of Jim's presence in the studio while recording this LP. The Diamond Doors
Long live the Lizard King!!!!!
Plus the very strong presence of a paycheck
@@user-cf6te2ug2g . . . umm, really. The Doors hard-up for cash in 1979 ?
last transmission
Always a poet, and ahead of his time. Buried amongst other great minds. Then idiots go and desecrate his memory and the cemetery as a whole.
We live, we die, and death not ends it.....right on!!!
"We live, we die, and death not ends it..." so many classic lines in his poetry.
In this century, we need again Jim.
❤ Jim l love you
Between life and death..there stands the test. Jim knew this more than anyone
I like that...
🎭
True story summertime 1979 a record store had a large cardboard ad of the american prayer album cover they sold it to me and i nailed it to the wall of my grandparents garage which i was living in at the time, july rolls around and apocalypse now is on a the movies so of i go with a car load of friends to see the late show. upon returning home i discover the poster has been taken down and cut into a hundred small pieces, all i can think is the line in the movie, the horror, the horror.
*NO HAY PALABRAS PARA DESCRIBIR ESTA OBRA MAESTRA!* 🖤
Imagine a 80 yr old Morrison....
The wisdom 😮
Happy birthday Jim❤
Jim Morrison new the end is near 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was 13 when I first heard this...it inspired me to write and recite with live music, which i did for several years in the late 80's and into the 90's
I’m happy Jim”s poem is so warmly received! When I was younger only a handful of us had ever listened to it! anyway Amedrican Prayer is my favorite poem and I’m glad ya’ll like it too!
Man, bitter-flowing and hypnotic. It makes me sad that Jim, Lennon, Zappa and countless others died before they finished what they had to say. However, what they gave is fifty-nine minutes of music's finest hour.
🗣️🔈”Man,…This is CoooL !”
🥸👍💕❣️💞🩷💖
Zombie James
Jim was trying to tell us something.
He did.
Bought this LP in 1979 still sounds crisp
When I 1st heard this...amazing compilation of Jim's soul being poured out into oblivion, with the surviving band mate's music playing, it made me think real DEEEEPLY about life, as I knew it.
This ode to Jim Morrison was a work of art, & celebration played by musicians...or rather, "virtuosos" whose work had come to an end way too early.
This album was really my very beginning, into appreciating the true depth of what good, well written & performed music can give to us humans!
What poetry?
I have been hearing it for years and each time I hear it...I get a feeling which is so difficult to put into words.
RIP . Jim Morrison.
A perfect work by Jim Morrison and The Doors years later
Hits the soul
He was the best, and the most underrated front man in any band, ever.
He could have been the most famous singer of his time if he wanted, but instead he chose to stand by his beliefs and clash with the law, politics and the sheep of the world.
But at least he was 100% genuine, and not a puppet like the majority of every other artist about.
He had talent, brains, and ball's, and thats what made Jim special and unique.
R.i.p Mr Mojo Rising x
Repose en paix Jim, parmi tes potes, les poète,les rêveurs...😘😉
Oh this man was an awesome god of the rock and roll music ...young wild and cool guy...!!! THANKS JAMES D.MORRISON CLARKE ..!!
Went to Paris to visit Jim. I see why he liked it there. Life is weird.
I love this song, the best way to experience this song is when you are about to fall a sleep or drunk as f**k
Or… perhaps experiencing it in other mind altering avenues can be where it’s at just as well- sometimes better
Jim is really missed… I really wish that he was still alive. His music would be really priceless 💙🦋
I don’t understand. It’s beyond priceless
A true masterpiece... it has to be my favorite piece of poetry. It's hard to find the whole suite, so thank you!
Jim Morrison 😉😉 le mythe
A TRUE AMERICAN CLASSIC!
Une mélodie poignante et souvenir d une soirée magique

These are the words that shall help us through this plandemic.
you conspiracy clowns need all the help you can get 🙄
I think Jim left us so early because he just couldn't take this place anymore. His soul was already so old
" We of ARABIC PLEASURES BREED"
Glad ,I met crownprince of Arabia BIN SALMAN , in my local healthfoodstore RAINBOW ACRES in Marina del Rey,CA.
One of Jim's unknown sons also shopped there..he always wore a v e l v e t blazer had long hair and had two golden diamond rings..one on the left, the other on the right hand
His name is AL.He also went to the TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN LOTUS above the toxic pond in Pac.Palisades..once we were singing a Christmas song there...
this is such a great, tasty and atmospheric album...the rest of the Doors did a great job with the music...
Amen.
Ont se sent le plus en vie, que face à la mort. On ne souffre plus quand on meurt 😊😊❤
5:35 my infinite favorite part of the pale soft laces of music unchained unrestricted angels beauty. Claws of thunderous bolts of zues's ever gracing sounds and melodies. A feast to feed our giants
