There are a lot more Vintage players in Magic Online, since the Power Nine and other Vintage-only cards are much more affordable there (at one point I bought a Black Lotus in Magic Online for $5). It's still not nearly as popular as other formats, though.
I play most of my original cards. They are definitely not anywhere near mint condition after 30 years of play. I do have several that I have just stored away against a rainy day. I found out years ago if I group most of my good cards together either crush whoever I’m playing against or someone starts pointing out all the band cards and start screaming about their lack of them.
In that case why is Bazaar legal in vintage and were legal in commander for a long time. While Tolarian academy is restricted x1 and ban everywhere else since long time
@@alexandreleveque8394 They didn't say most powerful. Best is subjective and their criteria seems to be "you only need this land to pull off the deck's strategy" whereas Tolarian does require *some* sort of board of artifacts, as easy as that may usually be.
@@kylegonewild Yes, but the Tolarian is the most broken and absurd land I think printed since 1993, and especially in Vintage. I mean, in the video it was once tapped fro 11 blue mana ^^
First time seeing this matchup live and I’ve been playing for almost 15 years. It’s great to see a match of a format that is almost unplayed. It was great to see! Incredibly powerful.
Haha really thats funny, i printed out both of these to try with my buddies because they sounded like the two coolest vintage decks. Only match up ive tried 😂
Hi, Mengu. i hope you can feature how broken old cards and compare it to cards nowadays like Tolarian Academy, Recurring Nightmare, Necropotence, and the likes.
Mengu this was amazing! So cool to see these decks played in paper - not very often you see P9 gameplay with production values this good (Kudos to Tommi). Really enjoying the Workshop content, keep it up :)
This content is absolutely fantastic! Though I would love some kind of primer explaining what the decks are trying to do before the games start! I don't know many older magic decks but I love the content regardless!
I subbed to the channel, not that I'll watch all the content, but your so good on camera you deserve to have all the subs you can get. Such a natural. also great player
Great video, great channel. Also it is awesome to see Mengu care so much for the printings and versions of paper cards, so happy about a foil Grim Monolith or a Arena Island, and it’s fantastic, as others have mentioned as well, to see them being played 👍🏼
Never played a game of Vintage in my life (I guess Cube doesn't count) but had a really good time watching this, you guys do a great job ! Really fun to watch, great editing, keep it going ! 😘
Great vid!! Crazy how similar the playstyle of Workshop is to Heliod, the warped eclipse (cedh). If you ever want to tap into the format, tap into the deck. Flash speed spices it up
I haven't played MTG in probably 5 years now and I sold my collection ages ago, but this really makes me want to play Vintage or Legacy with my friends over webcam with proxies or Tabletop Simulator. I'm very partial to the Hollowvine deck too, because I used to play a lot of Rakdos Hollow One in Modern when it was a top tier deck. Good stuff!
holy crap, these decks are so cool!! vintage really is another beast in terms of power level, huh?! I could never afford to play this in paper, but this seems like it would be hilarious and fun!!
I've played Vintage on Magic Online. Built a deck after Vintage Masters ended, since I was able to draft a bunch of P9 and only needed a couple more to build a competitive deck. It's surprisingly fun. I expected it to be annoying due to the degeneracy, but all in all, it ends up being surprisingly balanced, since all decks are OP.
I normally don't branch much into formats like Legacy or Vintage but Paradoxical Outcome looks amazingly fun, maybe one day I will win the lottery and have the joy of playing it in paper! :D
Man, that first game actually came down to Tommy attacking for fun against the ring. 4 more blockers would've probably been enough to survive until Mengu would deck himself
I loved the part where they hyped up the dieroll and then proceeded to play a game that lasted longer than your averge modern game. Loved the content. Bazaar is awesome, sad to see it pack such a prize
pretty sure you would have lost or you would have at least had to play different because you couldnt go to 1 because you missed your one ring upkeep trigger at 11:40 or am i wrong ?
Would this br a fun video series? you "timetravel" into the future and add 4 copies of a single card to a deck and test what deck is now the best? What card would you pick for these two decks?
Why doesn't Hollow Vine run Gaea's cradle in the sideboard for Defence Grid and Tabernacle? Is it just better to have a more consistent deck and hope your opponent doesn't have it?
in game 1 on tom's 2nd turn. i wonder why he cast force of vigor in his own upkeep instead of mangus, to maybe get some free "dmg" thanks to manacrypt trigger gitprobe is also legal in commander! :
He cast it during Mengu's end step (you can't pitch cast that Force cycle during your turn) so that Mengu didn't get to untap first. If he waited till Mengu's next upkeep, Mengu would have mana, and a Ring, to work with in response to draw cards and maybe stop the Force.
We've done it, we've found both the vintage players
Hey hey! I play Vintage too! There are at least three! 😂
We're have something about 10 vintage players in our country too😂
There are a lot more Vintage players in Magic Online, since the Power Nine and other Vintage-only cards are much more affordable there (at one point I bought a Black Lotus in Magic Online for $5). It's still not nearly as popular as other formats, though.
I love vintage
Commander players kinda play vintage
Makes me so happy to see the cards actually getting played and not just sitting in slabs
It makes me happy too, but also very anxious 😂
Cards are meant to be played !! I opened many cases of graded cards in my life :)
Riffle shuffled too xD
I play most of my original cards. They are definitely not anywhere near mint condition after 30 years of play. I do have several that I have just stored away against a rainy day. I found out years ago if I group most of my good cards together either crush whoever I’m playing against or someone starts pointing out all the band cards and start screaming about their lack of them.
I can't believe 100% of all vintage players were in this video
“Eh, guess I’ll play some artifacts”
*black lotus*
This looks so different to all other mtg formats. I liked when Mengu said " I have an island"
Finally blue mana!!
Bazaar is the best land of all time. You can mulligan to 1 for Bazaar and still win the game. It is the only card you need.
In that case why is Bazaar legal in vintage and were legal in commander for a long time. While Tolarian academy is restricted x1 and ban everywhere else since long time

I love this channel. Every veedeeoo has been great. Keep up the good work.

From this afternoon chat:
‘Wow tommy the video came out to be 40 minuts, i didn’t expect that’
‘To me they felt like 12 hours’

Wonderful to watch. Makes me very nostalgic!
This is so cool to see in person! Please bring more vintage!
Love the content. Thanks for the uploads Mengu.
Bravissimo! È veramente bello vedere queste carte giocate e non solo dietro una teca ❤
Love the videos! Great channel, hope it keeps going with the older formats.
So glad you decided to show off vintage in paper!
Thx for keeping up the good work, wished there was more pauper content tho

Very cool to see in action, thanks for the vintage veedeo!
It's crazy shuffling up a deck that has a Black Lotus in it. That card costs what, like $100? lol maybe a little bit more than that!
Lol yeah, a bit more
Very nice to see a channel where foil Grim Monolith is being played instead of going straight to the vault.
I play vintage on mtgo regularly, and there is no combo I hate more than vault+key 😂

love the flexing with mengus deck - thats part of why we play magic - its also a collectors game =)
Semplicemente senza parole... Uno spettacolo!
That Arena Promo Island (12:15) is from 2002, not 2001.
The 2001 Arena Promo Island has a snow covered look to it!
Love it, cheers Mengu and Tommi!
Damn Mengu's collection is insane! Thanks for another great match
Happy this exists, thank you
My favorite part of Manaless Dredge is that it’s the cheapest 10-proxy vintage deck. No moxen, no lotus, no duals. Just Bazaar and Force of Will.
At 13:00 the tokens you held up were actually infinitokens, not the ultimate guard equivalent!

When i saw the post about Bazaar last Week i hoped for Dredge haha. Still two very, very beautiful Decks. : )

Awesome games as usual. Mengu should get Paradoxical Outcome in old frame, it's gorgeous.

Excellent video as always
i'm starting to think that Mengu put manifold key on the bottom so he could show off all the cards 😂
Great work ethic with the editor ahaha.
21:34 did Mengu roll for Mana Crypt? Or maybe he had Ring protection, so many things were happening :D
i dont get it.. mengu wasnt protected anymore!? forgot to roll ?
i am dumb.. its a mox opal and a mana vault
