Thanks for the content. I wondered how doing blood work on your own worked.

You don't need to go through a doctor for most tests Ulta labs, Jason health, DPC frontier, and advantage diagnostics partner with clinics all of the US. Just fill your shopping cart with test, pick a local clinic to conduct the test, the blood work is then sent off to the lab you selected. It's exponentially cheaper than going through a doctor. There are certification to be a lab so it's not like they are hack jobs labs they are all held to the same standards at the monopoly that is Quest Diagnostics

I understand that, but I can’t speak for just Utah. While I live here, there are people from all over the country and a few other countries who watch and have different hoops they have to jump through.

@@BrandonTalbotI am excited to see so many alternatives to getting tests done at a doctors office.
You're right it does appear InsideTracker is unique in the sense that it has some options for Canada and that they will drive to your house. My point was that it's great to have options like InsideTracker, Ulta, Jason, DPC, Direct Labs, and Advantage. These are ALL available nationally across the US and all operate the same way (cheaper, no doctor has to approve the test, you get the results back on their proprietary app or you can sync them with whatever health app you choose).
For someone who is price shopping, one company doesn't have the lowest price. They all run promos and discounts, and some tests are cheaper at different sites. The competition is good, I had not heard of InsideTracker and will add them to my list of options.
      Great video!

Since "Obamacare" preventive yearly screenings are required to be covered from my understanding. Your doctor will also do an EKG and physical exam as well as blood work which includes some of the same things as inside tracker but also some other things. If your doctor won't help you with this, sounds like you need to find a new one.

They are, but they’re not. It depends on the insurance, some insurances are saying they cover preventative care as long as it’s not medically necessary (which is a catch22)

My dude, go watch some Bryan Johnson. Anecdotal and observational study's are doodoo tier science. You gotta get the data!
Results speak for themselves, but without data it's hard to be definitive and isolate variability. You got this!
Sorry you had such a bad experience with your doctor that really sucks though :(

    • @BrandonTalbot
      @BrandonTalbot  หลายเดือนก่อน

I don’t understand how doing an actual lab conducted blood draw (the same I would get from a hospital) is doodoo science? Also my doctor is not one of those doctors, I said “mine’s not this way”

@@BrandonTalbot Nah, I think there was a disconnect in my comment. For the outside of the body, in your videos you seem to have always had good metrics and data for sleep, running pace, distance, weight lifting, etc which is awesome.
In the first 60 seconds of this video you mention that you've avoided getting panels (data and metrics) the internals which means up to this point you've likely just been running on anecdotal/observational:
      - When I eat X it makes me feel (insert feeling)
      - When I use X toothpaste it makes my teeth look brighter
      - When I work out I feel like my stress is lower
The observational/anecdotal is "doodoo", not the tests you had conducted. I was pumped to see you talking about doing internal tests. I only mention Bryan Johson because in regards to health and fitness, he is solely focused on the data and tests. Isolate variables and improve them like you mentioned with getting a vitamin D shots. The data doesn't like, but your observational inputs like sight, touch, smell, feelings, can have a lot of variability.
      Great video, really loved it!

@@Triflixfilms Ahhh I get what you’re saying. I will say Brian is more or less wrong on anecdotal being doodoo science though. If you get a chance to read Unplugged by Andy Galpin and I can’t remember the other dudes name they talk about and give the research behind how “feeling” is just as accurate as data in many cases. And while I do think data is important it’s not the end all be all. Either way glad I did the tests in the pursuit of feeling better and performing better.

@@BrandonTalbot I know I have a strong bias toward data since my background is in engineering, so for the time being we can agree to disagree. But I will add Unplugged by Andy Galpin to my book list and read it with an open mind, perhaps I am wrong after all haha.
I agree with what you said in the video that people should have tests 1 - 3 times per year, which makes for great rolling benchmarks and best-fit lines. Really glad you found an option that worked for you and were able to go to your house!

@@Triflixfilms he’s a really smart dude who runs a lab and is data driven so to hear his take was impactful. I think you’ll enjoy it.
