TUBIN EDUARD: "KRATT" (GOBLIN) suite from the ballet. Estonian Nat. SO. Neeme Järvi (Live Rec. September 7, 2013).
"Kratt" ( = Goblin) is an Estonian ballet in four acts by Eduard Tubin. It is considered to be the first Estonian ballet. The libretto is written by Elfriede Saarik. The ballet is entirely based on folk tunes.
The premiere was on 31 March 1943 in Vanemuine Theatre. The ballet became infamous in Estonia due to the Soviet "March Bombing" of Tallinn in 1944, when the bombing started as the ballet was being performed at the Estonia Theatre, which was heavily damaged right after the theatre had been evacuated.
Tubin started to create the ballet already in 1938 2nd version was created in 1940-1941 and 3rd version in 1960. It lasts about one hour and 30 minutes. There is also a Suite that lasts about 20 minutes.
The piece of the suite are: 1) Introduction (until 2:26) - 2) Dance of the Countrymen (from 2:37) - 3) Dance of the Goblin (from 4:47) - 4) Long Dance (from 7:02 - 5) Valse of the Countrymen (from 10:50) - 6) Dance of the Goat (from 9:27) - 7) Dance of the Flatterers of the Devil (from 13:05) - 8) Dance of the Northern Lights (from 15:40) .
Eduard Tubin was born on 18 June 1905 in Torila, Tartu County, Governorate of Livonia, then part of the Russian Empire. Both his parents were music lovers, and his father played trombone in the village band. Eduard also played flute in the village orchestra.
Tubin entered the Tartu Teacher's College in the newly independent Estonia in 1920. It was here he began to take an interest in composition. In 1924 he was admitted to the Tartu Higher Music School starting his studies under the guidance of the famous Estonian composer Heino Eller. He married a fellow student, Linda Pirn, in 1930 and their son Rein was born in 1932. Tubin took up work conducting in the Vanemuine theatre. During this time he also conducted one of the best-known male choirs and made several trips abroad. In 1938 he met Zoltán Kodály in Hungary, who encouraged his interest in folk songs. In 1941 he married the ballet dancer Elfriede Saarik. Their son Eino was born in 1942.
Following the Soviet re-occupation of Estonia in 1944, Tubin fled to Stockholm with his wife Erika and sons Rein and Eino. He remained in Sweden and became a Swedish citizen in 1961, although he did visit Estonia on occasions. He was offered work at the historical Drottningholm Palace Theatre restoring old operas. This left him time to devote himself to his own composition. Here he wrote most of his greatest works, including two operas, symphonies 5-10, a second concerto for violin, one concerto for double-bass and one for balalaika, a piano concertino, much piano and violin music, choir and solo songs etc. Towards the end of his life, Tubin slowly began to gain recognition, particularly after the conductor Neeme Järvi, also an Estonian, escaped to the United States in 1980. In the last year of his life his Tenth Symphony was performed on 5 concerts by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Tubin received several Swedish music awards and was elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. After a long illness he died on 17 November 1982 in Stockholm.

Ritengo a mio avviso che è un ottimo compositore ma che trovo nella sua sinfonia un po' di plagi come dukas, stravinsky, Berlioz chacaturiajan ecc per me la musica finisce con Beethoven, e vivaldi, il resto è silenzio🙏

@@lomonacaarturo7825 da come risponde fa capire che io sono limitato al contrario di lei che se ne intende allora mi fa capire che anche lei e un pappagallo la musica si ama non si copia sarei capace anche io scrivere sinfonie copiate
