- Naruto: Episode 8! I've lost my patients with Sakura as a character.
Didn't take very long... am I missing something here? Maybe it's too early to tell.
Do some people feel the same? DOES SHE GET BETTER LATER ON? Because currently, she's frustrating to watch.

As some already said, the problem with Sakura is, that she´s just a normal 12 year old girl that doesn´t come from a renowned ninja family, that push their kids to train early, have special family jutsu or inherited powers. Given that she obviously doesn´t have that much physical power as a young girl she basically is not of much use in an actual battle at this point, especially against some highly skilled brutal killer like Zabuza.
Contrary to some people´s opinion I don´t think that´s bad writing. It´s just what it is and also makes for an even bigger character development as she grows in personality and character later on and finds something she´s good at.
(After Shippuden Spoilers) Sakura gave birth to an Uchiha that needs glasses.
Sakura has a couple good moments in OG but she definitely pulls her weight in Shippuden more :)
all the Naruto openings are really good, the best ones are 2 and 4 plus 9 is really dope but they are all good :) love the fact that they made it clear here that our guys cannot beat Zabuza as he is simply too advanced and they need Kakashi, I hate it when shows make the kids OP right away and they can just beat anybody, then it takes away all the tension and development potential :P props to Tazuna for not just looking our for himself :) that was some brilliant teamwork from our guys big brain play :) Sakura is doing her mission guarding Tazuna while Naruto and Sasuke attack they cant just leave him exposed :D
also yep, Sakura was called "useless" all throughout the show
Straight facts, it takes like 70+ episodes for granny Tsu to show up. I can name like three relatively useful ones up to the end of Chunin exams.
Sakura's inner dialog thing DOES mean something, but it is never explained. They will kinda acknowledge its existence, during the Chunin Exams arc.
Only Ino discovered Sakura's two consciousnesses, who told Ino to get out or she would regret her infiltration. That's why Ino's jutsu doesn't work on Sakura.🤔🤔

I honestly don't care about how useful Sakura is. The way she treats Naruto is why I disliked her in Naruto. She kinda got better in shippuden and Boruto tho.
So, here’s a helpful hint, for the first Naruto series, is I would recommend in some of the episodes fast forwarding past the first 15 minutes or so, because it’s just recapping what happened in the last episode. And I mean it will pick up right where the episode ended and go through what you just saw.
This is just the start of the show.. let it progress..you will see the important roles of female ninjas in it

My favorite song is Blue bird or the canjo rap or whatever it is called.
Remember Sakura is also just a normal preteen. She comes from a good family, but her parents weren't ninja. Saskue comes from one of, if not thee most celebrated clan of the leaf village, and he's the son of the leader of the clan. Naruto also has a proud and powerful lineage, but I don't want to spoil anything. The two of them are literally built differently than "normal" kids. Fighting is in their blood and dna. Sakura has ZERO advantages compared to the plethora of advantages Saskue and Naruto have. The idea of a 12 or 13 year old going toe to toe with a physical giant like Zabuza is absurd. Yes Naruto and Saskue were able to out maneuver Zabuza, but they never posed any kind of threat to him. The show honestly doesn't do the best job of showing it, but Jonin like Kakashi are in a completely different tier, insanely in a different tier. Zabuza could have killed them all, but he likes torturing and playing with his victims. So Sakura would have died instantly if she tried to do anything against Zabuza.
Plus I never see this mentioned, but Sakura is also covering the bridge builder. Sure she couldn't stop Zabuza if he came at her, but that's what the others are for. If Sakura wasn't there, Zabuza could just toss a kunai or shuriken and bam the bridge builder is dead. Yes she appears totally useless, but she is legitimately playing an important tactical role. Despite her apparent uselessness, she's still 100 times better than the bridge builder. Sakura isn't stupid, she knows her own limitations, but that didn't stop her from shielding the bridge builder during the previous attack, she was totally ready to take that hit to protect him and do her part.
All of that said, I do agree Sakura could have been written WAY better, but she also does develop significantly as the story progresses.

Been a while since I watched the Anime Darker than Black.
Sakura is a prime example of a great character written horribly, she has so much wasted potential simply because Kishimoto doesn't know how to write female characters.

My favourite character in the show is Kakashi, he gets a lot of depth and backstory later on, and continues to be relevant all the way to the end

Yes the va of Sasuke is same as Uryu in bleach and yk there will be two more characters coming in Naruto that have same va as Kenpachi and captain Ukitake in dub... which is amazing

The us/toonami showing of Naruto made a theme song of their own instead of this one so I'm not used to it but it is pretty fun. But "we will rise" kicks ass if you're into a bit of guitar shredding

look sakura is a bit useless here it's true, i get the frustration, but she would just die if she tried anything tbh, it's a good thing she just stayed behind and watched... sasuke is a genius and his clan is known to be insanely strong and naruto has a beast inside of him, they are strong enough to do smth while sakura isn't. she has miles ahead of her before she can even think of fighting a guy of zabuza's level!

The women in Bleach are objectively written better that's 100%. Naruto does have a few though that are solid though, one of em is one of my favorite characters, you'll meet a bit further down the road
I love Sakura so much but she's always used to emphasize other characters strengths and given cool powers but its never given any payoff it's just said she is badly written

So it's a common thing in anime to use the same 10 voice actors in every anime. For example sakura's voice actor does like 4 different characters in bleach, and kenpachi is also a very popular character in this anime. And there is this one guy, who is known for doing just his regular voice in every... thing, everything... he's is all the call of duties, all anime, and atleast has a cameo in every other videogame series (not really but a ton) the guy I'm talking about does the voice of zabuza (the bad guy in this episode) and multiple other characters in this show... to be fair, he has a great natural voice, but it is funny that you end up noticing easier because he didn't try to change it at all. His name is Steve blum.
You basically just described acting in general.
You can hire 50 people to play 50 people... or you can hire 20 phenomenal people to play 50 people.
Happens a lot in live action, too. Particularly when it comes to side characters. (Though it happens the least in movies)

This is the thing. Range is limited. So most of the time you're going to be typecast to do a specific type of voice. For every hundred times people notice Steve Blum or Liam O'Brien. There's always those times where people go "No way!? THAT is Steve Blum!?" But another who gets typecast an awful lot is Crispin Freeman. It's all up to the discretion of the director. Yet it's always the actor who gets the shit for it. People also recognise Johnny Yong Bosch a lot for having to do the Ichigo performance yet he also has some roles where he gets to play a killer or a kid and it's very different.

@@FlexiejayAnime New subscriber, and yes he's right. Saw a comment which says like shounen is made for males and do not expect women empowerment blah blah and trust me it's not like that lol. There's a lot fo female characters which play vital roles in the series and more powerful than the male characters :). I know that Bleach is your favorite anime and yeah I've watched it too and I loved it, but trust me you should try to watch naruto without comparing everything with bleach and just watch Naruto like Naruto. There's a lot to come in the show and I know that you're going to get your mind blown! I felt like I should comment and speak my mind haha that's it... no hate no nothing, just love and btw I love your reactions, you deserve more subs.

It would be super fun if you made a reaction to all Naruto and Shippuden intoros and outros. Some of those are fire. But it you will, try to do it before you get too deep into the show so that the visuals won't make much sense to you and you won't get spoiled. But generally they're not spoilery. If you watched them you would get super hyped. So please consider.
as for Sakura, forget about her for now, she'll be useless until Shippuden so just get that thought into your mind and don't even bother until then

Don't get your hopes up for Sakura lol. Technically she is actually one of the strongest in the whole show by the end, but she will always be over shadowed and prove herself useless even at the end. I'm avoiding spoilers and you won't remember this by the time you get to that point but, there is a moment where she has done the only thing I could imagine could slightly redeem herself in my eyes, and then things go to another level, all because she couldn't stab an enemy who was asking her too, an enemy who has done everything to deserve it.

Anytime you see any of the ninja go on missions, they will be wearing backpacks to carry supplies their wallets and clothing so that way they can have places to sleep buy food, souvenirs and what not.
tbf Sakura was doing something. She was guarding their escort mission. They need at least one person on the guy to defend him in case the enemy tries an attack while the others are distracted. If that guy died their mission would have failed.
I'll be honest Sakura is one of my least liked characters, but this arc isn't one of the reasons why. She was just doing her job.
If she were attacked while "guarding him," she would have died.

Kishimoto is heavily criticized for writing poor female characters. He even admits he isn't good at it. There are some good ones later and Sakura does improve. Part of her character arc is realizing how worthless she is lol.

Sauske's Dub voice actor does voice some extras in the Bleach Dub. Not sure about the Sub tho.
Also, I agree this is one of my favorite OPs. Blue Bird is really good too. One of my all time favorite OPs is from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood tho.
There are important female ninjas in this show, but unfortunately I wouldn't say that many of them are well-written. I am a lifelong Naruto fan, but I acknowledge that I like maybe two or three female characters in this entire show. I think they all have great designs, but aren't written super well. My favorite female cast in shonen (and in anime in general) is actually Gintama's cast and it really set the bar quite high for me
Gintama's female cast are all absolute badasses.

I don't wanna spoil anything so I'll just say this. Naruto does poorly with writing the women in the anime, however Sakura does get major development later on. She's just obsessed with Sasuke to really play on the immaturity aspect atm.
Funny the English voice actor of Sasuke currently voices Spider-Man in the new games. Every time Spider-Man yells I just hear Sasuke yelling.

I just wanna say something about Sakura. I totally agree that she was kinda annoying and useless at this point of the story, but the thing is the way I like to see it is that her being "useless" was actually written intentionally. She is just a normal kid with nothing special whatsoever, unlike her team mates. She also has the most potential to grow. So just don't listen to the stereotypical saying that Naruto's female characters are badly written. It's true they're not nearly as good as the females in Bleach, but they're not awful either. Some females in Naruto would blow your mind. Some progress would surprise you too. I agree though that her obsession with Sasuke is totally annoying and unnecessary 😑

You know, I would "like" every word you say. The last statements dissuaded me from doing this. Readers just need to understand that Sakura does not have to love Naruto because he is the main character. She loves the one she chose from the very beginning. And her love did not become an obstacle to the level of kage without divine gifts. That's all people need to know about Sakura.

i would take 10 kid sakuras than the entire non development of orihime. talk about a non character. a literal damsel in distress. with the power of a disney princess.
sakura at least has a reason to act that way, she is a literal child, who still didnt understood the seriousness of the situation. and she does grow later. it takes some time. but it happens.
orihime on the other hand, ends the series pretty much the same way she started as, eye candy. 0 chemistry with the rest of the characters.

So you want Sakura, a character who just made Genin level, who doesn't have Sasuke's Uchiha bloodline, Doesn't have Naruto's Nine-tailed Fox/Huge chakra reserves to compete with a Jonin who's had years of experience assassinating people who killed his entire class, This mission was already beyond the scope of Genin just with the two Chunin Ninja at the start, Zabuza is a monster compared to them, a master assassin who was able to entrap Kakashi who has the Sharingan. Sakura stands no chance against them, this is her first real mission which is now an A-Rank, she's a baby who just passed the academy and is actually the only one doing her job which is to protect Tazuna from unknown threats, Kakashi specifically told her not to get close and just stick by him, she's just following orders.

Sakura is also defending the bridge builder...she is the last line of defense. Its a very important job. If she wasn't covering him, Zabuza could just toss a kunai and it would all be over. Honestly it speaks to her character that she NEVER abandons the bridge builder. Even when Saskue and Naruto are getting beaten up, and Kakashi is stuck in the water, she trusts her teammate and contributes the best way she can.
@@henchera Also when the 2 Mist Chunin attacked at the start of the mission she threw her body in front of him essentially willing to die for him that by itself takes remarkable courage.
To be fair though, you’re looking at 12 year old kids. Boys AND girls that are extremely immature. They’re thrown into these deadly situations as kids and it fits their personality and reactions well. Of course you’ll see Sakura’s strengths soon enough but she is by far one of the more ordinary people in the whole of Naruto. No special bloodline, no special backstory, no special implantations, she grows stronger purely through her own willpower. In terms of mediocrity, she’s right up there through no fault of her own.

Nobody with a lick of sense actually likes early Sakura. A few like her later, I'm not so sure I do... I can stand her later, but I don't like her. I like early Sasuke tho, oh he has his issues - But he's still a great guy on the overall early on.

Most female Characters in Naruto are absolute ass and a lot of Male Character are super well written. There is gonna be one later on which is my favourite female character in Shounen Anime though.
Since you are comparing I shall as well. I watched the big three and would without a doubt argue that Narutos best chracters are the best characters of the big three while Narutos worst character also rank at the bottom :D

Naruto has waaaaaay better written characters than Bleach, but early Sakura is very annoying. Kind of like how Naruto wasn’t mentally ready to be a ninja yet, Sakura isn’t mentally or emotionally ready for this kind of stuff.
My favorite is Naruto song is the natsuhiboshi but that in the future when you react to it😊

I watched all the big 3 from beginning till ending or been catch up. and I have to say the Naruto female cast are not even close to bleach or one piece. they are written so utterly bad. Even those with potential in the beginnen later on disappoint. ofc this is a opinion and other might not agree with me.
Dang! Thanks for this, yeah I’m a bit surprised tbh and perhaps that’s where my frustration comes from. Being an OG Bleach fan since I was a teen, I’ve got some high standards and Kubo gives so much variety. I appreciate your take since you have seen all 3, and I definitely plan to as well! Hopefully I like at least 1 female character in Naruto but something tells me I’ll be a bigger fan of ppl like Sasuke and Kakashi haha

sakura is basicly orihime before she gets any powers but with a shitty mentality. or even any random no-name female in bleach :P but ye there is alot of great females in bleach. and i do agree there is a much lesser amount of em in naruto or rather close too non. and sadly alot of the potentialy great females in naruto, just isnt. non the less... its a great story, that just dont have a big focus on great female leads. then again there is also alot of the females in bleach that is just beeing shit on every time the chance is there :S i love orihime. but tbf. in terms of impact. no more than sakura. mentality shes closer too hinata. hinata is abosluitely amasing. but until.... a movie. she gets shit on more or less every single fight. even sakura have more wins and usefullness in her bag. hinata is basicly for the most part the great hype woman and moral support through out the show for naruto. mentality hinata is the best by far. in terms of actual accomplishments and actively makeing a diffrence. sakura sadly takes the win. and thats really sad that those 2 are among the top of the best females. then ofc tsunade who have em both beat :P in terms of impatc and supporting the growth of naruto. for the forseeable future that is.

Remember that this is a shounen series, it's made for a male audience, so don't expect much from the female characters. Don't expect empowered women or anything like that. lol

@@FlexiejayAnime Female characters in shounen series are only used as support for male characters, and they are designed to please us men. I've only watched a few episodes of Bleach, but I bet it's the same there too because that's the formula for shounen series.
Sorry, but if you really want to see empowered female characters who have more protagonism than male characters, watch some shoujo series instead. lol Shounen series are specifically made for us men, and you have to keep that in mind. 😘

It’s crazy lol But Kubo SERVES UP and almost every male character is hot af so Kubo delivers lol. Incredibly attractive male and female characters and tons of options because he’s made about 100 of them. Aizen, Ichigo, Byakuya and Shunsui just to name my top 4 but there are others 🤤 and even some of the women have me feel a certain way. Kubo also writes some that are what you say, to help along the male characters and their arcs but they also have arcs and growth of their own and their motives are explained through amazing back story.. and then you also get the female characters that don’t “serve” male characters in the series and are literally just badass and some of the strongest characters in the series. 🙌🏻🤓 Kubo is unique lol

You are reacting to NARUTO...Stop with this Bleach obsession. Bringing up references is one thing, but constantly drawing a comparison is just nonsensical, especially when you have just started. Then there's Naruto : Shippuden, where you will be blown away ! Such are the storylines and character depths.
And about Bleach, it's not half of what Naruto is in terms of global popularity, adaptations, impact on pop culture, merchandise sales, anything lol.
I'm only a few episodes in and I'm really excited to see what happens and experience what everyone has been saying! I feel like I'm going to fall in love with it. It's definitely hard to NOT make comparisons from time to time because Bleach is my number 1 but I'm sure the more I get into Naruto the less it will happen. ☺
Bleach got a lot of hate and it was pretty popular to hate on it for a bit there but it's back and looking better than ever and finally getting the recognition it deserves, in peak anime form for tybw. Kubo the creator actually influenced a lot of popular anime now, like JJK and tons of others. Bleach has had its impact too 🙂 like all the big 3 have🔥 I can't wait to become a huge fan of Naruto. Hey! I have been hearing that a lot of people like the dub and it does have me curious. I’ll watch it on my own time and see what I think about it.
I just truthfully love listening to the Japanese language I think it’s beautiful and I love the Japanese humor in anime. I have found the experience to be really strange while watching dubbing, with English VAs trying to be these characters and make Japanese humor work in English. It disturbs me tbh 😅
But I’ll take a listen, thank you for your passionate comments! I’ll probably continue my videos with the sub versions for the consistency and because I prefer watching my anime that way 💕
