    (From Wiki):
The Gare du Nord (pronounced (literally Station of the North, or more simply North Station, lexically), officially Paris-Nord, is one of the six large terminus stations of the SNCF mainline network for Paris, France. It serves train services toward regions north of Paris, along the Paris-Lille railway. Near Gare de l'Est in the 10th arrondissement, the Gare du Nord offers connections with several urban transport lines, including Paris Métro, RER and buses. By the number of travelers, around 222 million per year, it is the busiest railway station in Europe by total passenger numbers.
The Gare du Nord is the station for trains to Northern France and to international destinations in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The station complex was designed by the French architect Jacques Hittorff and built between 1861 and 1864.

These notes will help you with this video. BTW: it's a huge train station and can be daunting to arrive out front or on an incoming train without knowing what to expect.
The video starts out front (Rue de Dunkerque) where you can see how massive the station is. The winged gold/orange statue is in the front of the middle of the station. As you go in (north) the end of the tracks are right in front of you (tracks 9 & 10). From this vantage point the tracks are 1-36 - left to right. To your left outside (west) will be the taxi stands and to your right (east) is the Starbucks (a useful point of reference) and the way to the Metro and rer lines (train to CDG) 2 and 3 floors below. Here are some points on the video for reference:
1:20 take note of this vantage (looking west) and the staircase on the left (I refer to these same stairs at 8:30). tracks 1-5 are ahead of you
2:00 camera turns (east) and proceeds in front of each track and platform starting with track 6
3:00 camera turns back towards the front of the station. Take note of the staircase and British flag. These stairs lead up to the Eurostar departure security area. Remember, you just walk off the train coming from London (and other European cities), but you must go through security to board the train to London. These stairs are in front of track 17.
3:44 the Starbucks is right in front - it is located in the far end of the terminal in the front corner.
4:18 tracks 20 & 21 and 30-36 are in front of you. Note the escalator to the right. This leads 2 floors down to Metro lines 2, 4 & 5 and the rer B&D lines - one more floor down.
5:27 this is looking out through the front of the station - the direction we started from. Note the Starbucks.
    5:30 down one floor
6:00 camera turns towards the front of the station. Note the Starbucks.
6:17 to the left is Metro 5 and ahead is Metro 4 (metro 2 is behind you via a long tunnel). The camera turns and proceeds west
6:30 camera turns to the north and turns back to the west
6:40 tracks 1-19 are above and the camera is moving back towards track 1 (west)
8:30 same staircase as at 1:20 - track 7 is to the right
    8:45 camera continues west, tracks 1-5 are to your right (EuroStar uses 3, 4, 5 & 6)
9:10 exit west side of station - taxis are to the right
    9:16 camera turns north
    9:40 camera turns east
10:27 back in front of winged orange thing!
Watch the video once again and then look at this exploded picture/map of the station:
    www.gare-du-nord.paris/images/plan-gare-du-nord-coupe.JPG
It seems confusing at first, but take your time and orient yourself with the video. Locate Niveau 0 (ground floor) - it is the largest floor- the one with the tracks. Note the faint drawing of the front (Rue de Dunkerque) of the station - it gives you perspective and shows how large the station is! In the front corner of that floor is where the Starbucks is - the corner right in front (above Metro 5) 2 floors down or Niveau -2. You can also see the holes in the floors in that area with the large escalators.
Take your time - watch some different Gare du Nord videos - there are several and you’ll soon be an expert navigating the station!

I'm hoping you can answer this for me. How long does it take to get from Gare Magenta (RER E) to the platforms where the Transilien H departs at at Gare du Nord?On the IDF Mobilités app, it says 4 min and 221 metres but I have my doubts. Going to Paris 2 1/2 weeks and on the first Saturday, I'm going to the AMTUIR museum in Chelles and after I want to go to Gare de Saint-Denis possibly to do some train and tram photos before going to do métro photos at Jaurès and La Motte Piquet-Grenelle stations before returning to our Airbnb in the 15th with Line 8.
      Cheers from Montréal, QC Canada!

      @lifecomm1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@gmnewlook You should have no problem at all making your connection. I'm pretty sure that Transilien trains depart from tracks 30-36 which are on the east side of the station (the same side as the RER lines and the Magenta Station). Once you get up to ground level, orient yourself in the station. The video is excellent for this. Have an awesome time on your trip! Also, look at the link I posted above of an exploded view of the station. You can see where the RER lines come in downstairs. Come all the way up to all the other trains lines - 30-36 are circled in red.

@@lifecomm1 thanks, we'll have a blast there!! I'll give myself a bit more time between trains, that way, I can sneak in a few photos between rides. ;) Same strategy for when come back from Saint-Denis station to Jaurès métro station.

Arrived in Gare du Nord via train from Amsterdam to see Paris for the first time. There was a terrorist attack when I got there and I couldn't get to my taxi, because the roads were closed and barricaded by military and police. Incredibly scary and crazy experience for me as a foreigner to France. Basically was stranded there for hours.

ryan Gare du Nord is slip in two part. Train including a lot of international train where the number of African (and Arabic) are limited, and the suburb trains part (RER) which cross Seine Saint Denis (93 department) in which maybe 80-90% of people are black and Arabic... usually the few white have luggage and are coming from Airport.

Bigotry has no borders... Citizenship in France is not based on ethnicity. France tries to avoid ethnicism and tribalism which occur in many countries though even modern ones (Japan, US...).

    • @shuaige3360
      @shuaige3360 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@hicetnuncmonamour Each country has the right to keep its own culture and not to be colonized, Algeria has the right to stay Algerian, Senegal has the right to stay Senegalese, Rainforest Indian have the right to keep their culture... and France too... French culture is not based on ethnicism, but based on culture, and go to "Gare du nord" or "seine saint denis" you will see a shitload of non-white people, who also do not have the french culture and even after 2-3 generations do not have the french culture, while before the Italian/polish/german/Spanish were assimilating and becoming french with french culture... and even today french born from Chinese/vietnamese parents are full french with french culture (even if they are none white), while most of arabic and African even after 2-3 generation still do not take french culture and worst by their behaviour (harasment on the street, violence, crime) they push people with french culture to leave the place they live... so they are behaving like colon, and step by step they are taking control of more and more french area.
Easy for you to criticize behind your computer, easy to play the Social Justice Warrior (SJW), but go to live next to guare du nord or in seine saint denis (or north area of Marseille, or one of the more than 700 areas "quartier perdu de la république" and after you can come back and make comment about how bigot and racist people who refuse this evolution for France are.
      FYI in France:
      - 60-70% of the crime are made by people form Muslim origin www.lefigaro.fr/actualite-france/2014/10/22/01016-20141022ARTFIG00314-un-rapport-explosif-sur-l-islam-radical-dans-les-prisons-francaises.php
      - 52% of rape in Paris are made by foreigners (not including all the people who get naturalized french and their kids) www.leparisien.fr/archives/enquete-inedite-sur-les-viols-a-paris-22-01-2016-5473637.php
      - African and Muslim are ultra homophobic and ultra antisemitic (63% of Muslim think homosexuality is a mental disease vs 10% of none Muslim)
      - an overwhelming majority of people harassing women on the street are from African and arabic background.
      - African and arabic people school level is total crap.. comparing to french with french origine... while chinese/vietnamese have the best results of all.
      and so all...
Sorry, a future full of sexism, homophobe, antisemtism, crime and violence, shitty school level (so shitty growth and development of the country), in which the french culture is destroyed is not what I want for my country. will you want the same for your country?
PS: it is this immigration from African and Muslim country which are bringing tribalism to our country, before with assimilaiton of people coming, France always accept anybody with any color as long as this person become french and do not behave has a colonist imposing his culture and dogm to us.

@@shuaige3360 well that was a video about a train station... And you came with your bigotry. Whatever your facts, you are as bigot as those that you criticize. A French citizen, conscious of his identity.
Btw once more France identity is not based on ethnicity. France is not White nor Black nor Asian. It may not please you but it's all about Enlightement and French Revolution. Culture is something in motion. Culture of our ancestors is not the same as ours. Fortunately !
