Mary Martin will always be the best Peter Pan, to me. As a kid, I watched her version from the 60's so much, the film came off the reel of the video cassette, numerous times.
A very creative collage. I love Mary Martin in anything she did. The ultimate professional and a fascinating person with an incomparable voice. Cathy Rigby was also a great Peter Pan. Hilarious to see Sally Field on the way to Neverland. I almost expected to see Margaret Hamilton fly by on her broom, too!
I had the privilege of seeing Cathy Rigby play Peter Pan in 2015, and even at 60 years old she was amazing. But I grew up with the Mary Martin version and so I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that. I can’t really compare, and don’t really want to
We have to suspend our disbelief and place ourselves in the shoes of audiences that are a. Willing to suspend disbelief in the apparatus b. Decades apart in experience and sophistication c. Judging athletic prowess against what now is termed, "classic", legendary, status d. Viewing technological advances that are FORTY years apart I'd say both are amazing. Enjoy the mash-up. Thanks to the poster!
+Missstinky Cat Actually, she played both parts. It's the Wicked Witch of the East who Dorothy sees in the cyclone before her house lands on her. She's wearing the ruby slippers as she rides her broom. Look for it next time you watch.
Cathy rigby was the best. She incorporated her gymnastics moves in her flying, unlike martin whojust bulloxed her way around. Rigby was the absolute best.
OMG you are hysterical. Mary Martin clearly looks like a well endowed adult woman. Stiff? Rigby is a gymnast doing flips in midair. Mary Martin has 4 moves and swings back and forth like a spider hanging from a web caught in a breeze. Utterly laughable. My guess is you never saw any of them perform live.
@@nonyabusiness2510 Im sorry but the one who is hysterical is you sweetie. Attempting to take a jab a me via a comment that I left a YEAR AGO. I nearly forgot I even left a comment on this video because it was awhile ago lol. Don’t like my opinion? Then ignore it and move on. It’s not brain surgery lol. All I did was give my opinion. Nothing more. Nothing less. There’s nothing wrong with that.

She was the first I saw as well, But Kathy kills it with those acrobatics. She just does more with her body. Rigby is my favorite.

Mary Martin exudes such joy.

I would have loved to have seen Margaret Hamilton on her broomstick as the Wicked Witch of the East!
She played the witch of the west

I've seen Cathy Rigby 5 times as Pan! The best!
that's was so cool have Mary Martin in that also very nice touch to it

Cathy Rigby IS PETER PAN. NO QUESTION. No one Flies and flips like her. OMG
She was definitely "a boy". Sandy Duncan was my favorite (not in this video though)
I can't find the Lucille Ball movie anywhere on the internet to watch it, was my Fave. When was it made etc?
Cool and clever.
Cathy Rigby is the most Believable Peter Pan. She was the best Peter Pan on Broadway.
Very clever
and Mary Martin, Sally Field and Lucille Ball are involved how?
What..no Sandy Duncan?
What about Sandy Duncan?
This is so cool
this is fun!
How did you do that?
Gosh I'm aiming for someone to do something like this with Allison Williams
She sucked.
Allison Williams was a talentless hack that sank the live broadcast.
try that with Ghibli characters
Hold on
Cathy wins, hands down.
Why is PETER Pan always played by a female? Anybody?!
Mary Martin was the best. She had so much more natural stage presence. That Cathy chick seems so stiff.
Which seems ironic since Cathy Rigby is a professional gymnast and played Peter Pan for more than 40 years

I don't know. I think John Candy might have done it best. (TH-cam search: John Candy Peter Pan)
